Andrew Sullivan Dumps Obama-Will He Endorse Palin For 2012?

Ultra-hip, oh so clever "Outside The Beltway" takes a cynical hit at Sullivan's diatribe about Obama and his budget;

"And so it begins" (Joyner at BTB commences and then quotes Sullivan as follows)

[T]his president is too weak, too cautious, too beholden to politics over policy to lead. In this budget, in his refusal to do anything concrete to tackle the looming entitlement debt, in his failure to address the generational injustice, in his blithe indifference to the increasing danger of default, he has betrayed those of us who took him to be a serious president prepared to put the good of the country before his short term political interests. Like his State of the Union, this budget is good short term politics but such a massive pile of fiscal bullshit it makes it perfectly clear that Obama is kicking this vital issue down the road.

To all those under 30 who worked so hard to get this man elected, know this: he just screwed you over. He thinks you’re fools. Either the US will go into default because of Obama’s cowardice, or you will be paying far far more for far far less because this president has no courage when it counts. He let you down. On the critical issue of America’s fiscal crisis, he represents no hope and no change. Just the same old Washington politics he once promised to end.."

Joyner then goes on to suggest that if the GOP nominates anyone to the right of Palin then Sullivan,who keeps switching sides on consecutive elections, will endorse the anti-Obama. The commentators agree that Sullivan rushes headlong into a "man love" affair with whomever takes his fancy and then tosses them under the bus.

Since Sullivan is, they advise, so erratic and since deep hate is so near to deep love in the circle of human relationships, it is entirely possible that a person so constituted would see the light and endorse Palin.

And why not? She stated she had no objection whatsoever to the Gay conservative presence at CPAC, her best friend is a lesbian and she, as Governor, was very progressive in this area. If Sullivan is looking for a candidate "with balls" he need look no further than Palin .If he wants a candidate who will stand up for the USA overseas and against radical Islam ( the reason he supported Bush-well she's your man..errr woman that is.

In fact, putting aside the inconsequential "Trig birth problem" what  exactly does Sullivan have to object to about Palin. Is she "dumb"?  Let him meet her face to face and make a judgement then-certainly her political instincts are hardly the hallmark of someone who is dumb.

On the other hand-is Obama intelligent, urbane, highly educated? If so then where has that got Sullivan in light of his falling out. Does Obama support Gays? It took two years to get around to DADT and Obama is still against Gay marriage-where did Sullivan's support of Obama get him-disillusion and regret.

No clearly there is no real impediment to Sullivan switching to a true conservative like Palin except pride, but if he can admit his mistake about Obama, then surely he is a big enough man to admit it over Palin.
