Sarah Palin's speech begins at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Golden Eagle Arena. School officials estimate there will be just under 2,000 people inside watching.

Bristol's Arizona House The Best Base For Palin's 2012 Run.UPDATE:Palin Broadcasts From Maricopa

I wrote an article (below, after the Daily Mail article) about the possible reasons for Bristol Palin buying a house in Arizona when there was considerable speculation as to why she had done,what a first sight seemed a puzzling move .Subsequent events seem to have supported my original premise that this might be an aspect of Sarah's 2012 run.


 The made up story published today in The Daily Mail/National Enquirer that Bristol was "banned Sarah from her house" was shot down in flames instantly by a commentator who advised that Sarah had done her Greta/Fox interview from a local park in Maricopa. 

The Daily Mail, quoting The National Enquirer-two really really reliable sources headline this absolute load of trash story;

"Back off mom! Newly-liberal Bristol Palin 'bans controlling mother Sarah from her home' - because she's too Republican.

The "story" includes such trash as: 

"If Sarah doesn't accept her, she isn't welcome in her home."

"The insider said: 'Bristol flat out told her that she needs to back off. She knows the only way that Sarah will stop being to controlling is to ban her from her home - because it would kill her not to get to see Tripp."

And numerous other knee-slappers-made up "quotes" hearsay and downright lies.

Here is what someone who actually lives in Maricopa (Bristols home town) has to say:

"This is totally not true. I live in the town of Maricopa where Bristol now lives. Just last night, one of my friends saw Sarah on the television and recognized the park where she was giving the interview. it was here in Maricopa. Her and her kids went to the park and watched her finish the interview and then met her. They took pictures with her as well. Sarah is staying with Bristol right now. If this was story was true then why would Sarah be here in Maricopa. This is a very small town and we do not have any hotels out here at all. The next closest town is 17 miles away. I wish you would get all of your facts straight before you print things that are not true"

Here is the original article which explains why Arizona is the perfect base for Sarah's 2012 run with electoral College map. If anything,subsequent events have confirmed the main poin tof the article and points even further to Sarah making a 2012 run from that base.

Speculation abounds as to why Bristol Palin has bought a 5 bedroom house in Maricopa Arizona. Whether or not Bristol moves to Arizona to go to ASU is a sidelight to the overarching reason i.e. Arizona is the perfect base for Sarah Palin to conduct her 2012 presidential campaign from.

It is hardly a coincidence that one of her key staffers, her lawyer Thomas Van Flein, is moving to Washington to work for newly elected Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar, whom Palin endorsed. Also, that Todd Palin had a long look-see at the area with the Deputy Mayor of Maricopa before Bristol bought the house (whose 5 bedrooms would seem excessive for Bristol and her baby).


Sarah Palin clearly found that McCain’s 2008 base was ideal as a hub and the electoral map for 2012 clearly dictates the same reasoning would apply. Obviously, given the enormous distances involved, Alaska would be to challenging, time-wise at least, to run a campaign from.


Then why Arizona?


An examination of the electoral map  (below) route to victory for Palin makes everything clear. If on election night Florida goes for Obama, then Republican supporters might as well turn off the television, as there is no combination of states, subsequent to the loss of Florida, which can give the Republicans the 270 electoral votes needed for victory. 


This implies that Palin's VP choice should be a Catholic with experience cred's such as Rudy Giuliani, or an Hispanic Catholic from Florida i.e. Marco Rubio. Both would appeal to the Hispanic voting block in Florida (Rubio being the obvious choice based purely on pragmatism) and in the vital southwest states.


Assuming Florida goes for the G.O.P. then North Carolina and Indiana should come back into the fold. Virginia is crucial as 270 EV's can't be reached without it unless the Hispanic vote in Nevada or New Mexico can be won over to some degree. Given this scenario the absolute key states start to unfold.

Ohio, Iowa, are battleground states each with their own peculiarities. Arizona, Colorado, Texas, New Mexico and Nevada are states where the Hispanic/Catholic vote will be crucial. Having a base in Arizona would allow Palin substantial time to make as many visits to these states as would be necessary. 

Palin has many allies who can take up the cudgels on her behalf too, which is a legacy of her brilliant endorsement program, such as McCain, Gospar, Brewer, new Governor Terry Branstad in Iowa and of course Governor Perry in Texas.


It is obvious that next to zero time and resources should be spent in the Eastern or Western states or in the safe states of the South and Mid-West. This is an excellent situation as it allows for the maximum spend in time, advertizing and supporters energy where it matters most.


Once again Palin confounds her critics who are dumbfounded as to why Bristol has purchased a house in Arizona. Let them continue to write her off as having no electoral skills, they will be utterly undone in November 2012..

If Obama Can't Stand Up To Palin/Trump Then How Can He Defeat Dictators?

With President Obama's cave in to Donald trump-and Sarah Palin who alone amongst the other prospective 2012 candidates had the gumption to ask that the "long form" birth certificate be released, how could he honestly project himself as being able to stand up for America in foreign affairs?


Palin was not included amongst the 'birther's" but simply asked that,in the interest of "moving on  to a normal review of important issues" that the certificate be released so as to put  an end to the matter. In this she applauded Trump's,now successful efforts.


Joan Walsh at Salon,with an apparent sigh,called it "giving in to bullies" but if that is how she  and the left see it then again, what confidence can there being a president who can't hold his ground against two basically powerless people ,especially compared to the North Korean and middle-east dictators who will,surely, be heartened, by this weakness.

Palin Asks(Video) President Obama-When Will You Roll Up Your Sleeves and Govern?

“Obama wrapped up a week on the campaign trail…instead of focusing on challenges facing our country, such as Libya and $5/gallon gas,” Governor Palin said tonight in a single segment interview with Greta Van Susteren from an undisclosed location.

Tonight’s interview follows in the wake of a scathing Facebook Note in which Gov. Palin took Obama to task essentially for shirking when he should be working on Libya.

“We cannot afford our commander-in-chief, our CEO to  not focus on his job," she said. “He needs to help get the economy back on track. The perception he gives on some issues is that he can’t be bothered.” Gov. Palin said if that’s the case, “government should get out of the way, don’t monetize debt, no quantitative easing and no wars we can’t afford.”

She said Obama “has been extremely inconsistent on why we’re in Libya. First, Gaddafi had to go…then it’s not our job to tell Libyans what to do do…why there? Why not Syria? What is our interest in Libya?”

Gov. Palin said “when you have a trillion-dollar deficit and $14 trillion in debt you have to be careful with the wars we engage in….We should only get involved if we’re in it to win it.” She added that we have to make sure a replacement government is not something worse than the predecessor.

“We cannot afford to be the world’s ATM and babysitter,” Gov. Palin said.

When asked how she would handle today’s high oil prices, Gov. Palin responded, “there should be no moratorium on drilling…the EPA is making it impossible for responsible drillers…there should be no subsidizing Brazil and other foreign countries’ drilling.”

Gov. Palin noted that the State of Alaska had already completed studies on whether speculation and collusion were at the root of high oil prices. The study concluded that it was a supply and demand issue. Gov. Palin said that Obama needs to work with these results and similar results from other states’ studies and support domestic drilling. She said his “hare-brained schemes” for green energy were no solution.

“A devalued dollar combined with the lack of domestic supply results in higher prices,” Gov. Palin said adding that it was a “deadly combination.”

Greta did not ask Gov. Palin about her own 2012 plans but asked her about Donald Trump’s. Gov. Palin said that she “respects what Trump is doing regarding the birth certificate and college records, and hopes that now he will force a shift in debate to other more important issues.” She added that “the media is loving this,” and they are “making curious Americans sound kind of crazy.” Gov. Palin dropped a hint that Obama’s memoir may have been co-written by domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. She said there is nothing wrong with asking Obama to disclose his thesis and other college papers – not because of the grades he may have gotten – but to understand his thought process, and “what goes into his thinking.”

“It is not inappropriate to ask why our commander-in-chief would want our troops under the control of NATO….People want to be able to trust their government,” Gov. Palin said.

Wonkette, Attacker Of Disabled Children, Has Advertisers: Harper Collins/Amazon/Barnes&Noble

Wonkette, the site which ran the now infamous attack on Sarah Palins disadvantaged child Trig, has lost 43 advertisers, but appears to still have an advert up from a major company.


As is well known a storm of protest against this execrable site and its equally obnoxious personnel found a massive campaign spontaneously built up to contact Wonkette's advertisers with the simple question-do you wish to advertise on a site that attacks disabled children?


The end result was, that company after company pulled their adverts. However it appears that the publishing company Harper Collins has a book advertised on the Wonkette site, which advert also refers prospective purchasers to either the Amazon or Barnes&Noble on-line sites.


It would be nothing short of amazing if  long established firms, such as these three, which have a reputation for ethics, would wish to be associated with such a site as Wonkette. No doubt they might perceive they have a prospective customer base amongst the immature and juvenile minded who inhabit that site, but surely their reputation is worth more than the disgrace that might cling to them by this poor association.


It would not be a surprise if the three firms were the recipients of demands to cease their sponsorship from outraged parents of handicapped children and decent people everywhere.

As Palin Polls Lift Has Wonkette Ironically Put Her In the White House?

If in January 2013 Sarah Palin lifts her right hand and starts a sentence with these four words “I do solemnly swear” as she commences her inauguration as America’s first female president then in irony beyond irony the ultra-liberal website “Wonkette” may have been the biggest contributing factor.

Since Palin’s nomination as the GOP’s vice-presidential candidate in 2008 she has been the subject of the most unrelenting, unprecedented, attacks by the left-across the whole spectrum “progressives”, mainstream, Democratic Party operatives, the media and the entertainment industry.


Some of the attacks have been on her policy and social attitudes, which is the normal cut and thrust of the political scene but they have been well in the minority. The overwhelming number of attacks on Palin has been of a personal nature-her appearance, her family, and her own children. A substantial number of these “alinsky” leftist attacks have been distortions, half truths, outright lies and, with the “Trig Truther” brigade, bordering on insanity.


There is no question that the massive weight of this unrelenting campaign has had some effect, how could it not, and Palin has seen a drop in her poll support. Part of this drop has been because she has not made a commitment to running for president in 2012 so there has been a natural dispersing of potential support towards those who have made more of a commitment, or who are the media’s latest bright shiny object e.g. Bachman and Trump.


However, it is a sensible presumption to conclude that the personal attacks, especially the gross distortion by the media of Palin’s statement on the Gifford’s tragedy, would have had some degree of effect on her poll numbers. Perhaps heartened by that, the left tried to go in for the kill.


This was undertaken by a media campaign which had as its theme that “Palin is now so insignificant that we will have an embargo any news item about her”. Then, with what seemed to be the coup de grace on what they thought was a politically mortally wounded person, the execrable blog ‘Wonkette” ran their now infamous attack on Palin’s son Trig on his birthday.


This attack on a defenceless, handicapped child, brought a firestorm of protest which even included some voices on the left it was so vicious. Apart from Wonkette losing 43 advertisers, as an enraged public launched an email blitz which told companies that if they continued to support Wonkette they would lose patronage, a most unexpected consequence-to Wonkette, and the left, took place.


With Palin maintaining, in the face of a most scurrilous attacks on her and her children, a dignified silence, (except to give a brief note of thanks to all those who so valiantly took up the cudgels for her and Trig and common decency) the wider public could see the true heart and methods of the left exposed.

The face of leftism, with the mask having slipped, was so revolting that a wave of sympathy for Palin started to build. All those leftists who, when Palin defended herself valiantly against the media assault, said she was “playing the victim” were shown to be partially right-Palin was a victim and the public could now see that for the fact it is.


Palin lifting in these recent polls:


1.In the latest Newsmax/Insider Advantage poll of Republicans they advise “Donald Trump holds a slim lead over other potential candidates in the race for the Republican presidential nomination,”


In the survey of Republican and Republican-leaning respondents completed on Monday night, 14.3 percent said they would vote for the billionaire real estate mogul if their state’s primary or caucus were held today.

In what even the leftist Washington Post admits is a “bump” upwards for Palin the CBS Poll/Times poll has shown an “unexpected’ lift in nationwide support for Palin from a ridiculous 19% to now 26 % which, with a drop in her unfavorables in this poll, marks a nine point shift in her favor. If even this most silly of polls-which alone amongst pollsters reporting on Palin has an “undecided” response of 16% (down from the silly 19% in the previous poll, and a ludicrous 2% listed as “not heard enough”) can show this sort of bump, then something is happening.


In what might turn out to be the greatest piece of irony, the confirmation of the rule of “unintended consequences” what was intended to be the final nail in the Palin coffin could well turn out to be the final nail in the leftist attack plan coffin. All of a sudden there has been a noticeable lift in Palin‘s polling which, if it continues could lead, inexorably to the January 2013 scenario. Hubris, schadenfreude, irony, would be insufficient to describe the result of that denouement, perhaps President Palin could come up with a new, suitable word.

Trump's Obama Birth Cert Findings May Mean Constitutional Placing McCain/Palin In Office

If Donald Trump's reported statement to CNN's Anderson Cooper that "President Obama's birth certificate cannot be found or may not exist turns out to be correct, and if subsequently, upon investigation, President Obama's election in 2008 is decided to have been illegitimate due to his disbarment from running for the office of president under the Constitution then his removal from office may be undertaken.

The current vice-president Joe Biden would have no apparent legitimate hold on office as he would not have been elected in 2008 if his running made had no right to seek the Electoral College majority. Further he would have, surely, no moral right to the office.

The 20th amendment ot the Constitution gives a clear legitimacy to, where a presidential and vice-presidential canddiate, having failed to be qualified, disbarring them from those offices. Congress can clearly, at that point, choose the legitimate office holders.That choice would surely have to be the two persons who received the highest number of legitimately received electoral and popular votes-John McCain and Sarah Palin who would be sworn in immediately upon selection by Congress under the Constitution.

The 20th amendment to the Constitution, Section3.:

3. If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.

Palin Is Media Liberal Jew's Mistaken "Golem" Target And "Primal Scream" Therapy

In  the 17th century, a time of terrible persecution for the Jews of Europe, surpassed on by the Nazi period for persecution and murder, the poor, isolated in ghetto's Jewish communities turned to mysticism, the Cabala and folk legends for comfort and solace.


One of the most powerful of these legends was of the Golem. This was an enormous creature in the shape of a man, fashioned out of clay, and brought to life by wonder-working Rabbi's, particularly Rabbi Yehuda Loew "the Maharal" in Prague. Such was the skill of the Maharal of  Prague that with the aid of an amulet placed on the Golem it could be made invisible when going on particularly risky missions.

The Golem was particularly useful in The Maharal's battles against the "Blood Libel" accusation against the Jews-that they used the blood of Christian children in the making of ceremonial matzoh bread which accusation was the cause of numerous pogroms and mass killing of Jews.

Centuries of persecutions and mass murder against the Jewish Peoples is not so easily cleared from the folk memory-even in these modern enlightened times. It is only just over 60 years since the closure of the concentration camps and it is understandable if the Jewish Peoples (as with the Armenian Peoples who still bear their scars from the massacres of the early 20th century) still are scarred 'even down to the current generation" who have no personal knowledge of any lifestyle apart from the, in the main, comfort and ease of America.

I wrote previously in trying to understand why there appears to be such a deep, illogical antipathy to Sarah Palin by many on the left and why it appears that the Jewish commentors see a disproportional element in this cascade of  calumny against her

I viewed this deep antagonism as stemming from a cultural/historical background. The oppression and in some cases genocide which was very much a part of the Jewish immigrants world, especially for those from Eastern Europe, certainly is not an aspect of the day-to-day experience of modern American Jewry but for many the "tales learned at grandparents knees' affects their political outlook.


If not a family history of oppression then in many cases there will be one of the classic immigrants story of struggle and hard times and especially the great depression of the 1930's where the strong bond with the Democratic party was formed.

What has happened is that Palin has become the vehicle by which Jewish folk memories are expunged from the subconscious in a "primal scream'"(an apt description of the totality of unhinged media attacks on her in many cases.) She has become the stream of conciousness target of the "Golem" for the Jewish liberal media elite to, in an act of mass self psychoanalysis, bring to the surface the subconscious repressed hate elements against a Christian society,of which Palin is an exemplar, which, in reality bears them no ill will.

If, by this act of mass annihilation of neuroses the media can understand what has transpired, they hopefully can gain by it and move forward, as new men and women, to a more reasoned world view and address their political antipathy to Palin on a basis  of policy rather tha attacking the "hidden Goy of dread" which she represents to them deep down.

I am obliged to the columnist Garry P. Jackson who published this analysis of the liberal media collusion the "journalist conspiracy" to elevate Obama in 2008 and destroy Palin. If anyone considers it far-fetched that there is a Jewish group of media personalities who worked towards that end a cursory glance at the names on the list below will quickly show the reality of the situation. The list only includes journalists-it could be expanded, for the use of this article, to include Hollywood producers, television writers/producers, actors, comedians

It is to be hoped that these media people, who have been exposed as carriers of a bias which even they do not understand the roots of, will now undertake a course of deep introspection and hopefully move forward. Even at the very least for their own credibility, which has been sorely tried because of the Arizona tragedy reporting fiasco on their part-such was their haste to destroy the "Palin" of their neuroses.

That the liberal Jewish mindset can be overcome, and that there are those who were never inflicted with it in the first place, is proven by the growing number of Republican voters amongst the Jewish community and Palin supporting blogs by Jewish intellectuals which proves there is much hope for their liberal brethren.

 I am indebted to a Jewish colleague for this insightful commentary on the above post.

1. Many of the people you listed below (the 151) certainly are not Jewish.

2. The question of why so many U.S. Jews are left/liberal or are
"disproportionately" anti-Palin, or pro-Obama, is a complicated one, that is
not necessarily clarified by reference to the Maharal of Prague, fascinating
though his story is.

3. It is true that only about 1/3 of U.S. Jews are strongly connected to
Israel, but this is mainly a result of our cultural assimilation here, of
losing touch with our Jewish knowledge, values and interests.

4. Our best estimate is that 1/3 of Jews voted GOP in 2010, up from 20% in
2008. Many have "buyer's remorse" over Obama's treatment of Israel.

5. The Dems are terrified of going into 2012 continuing to hemmorage Jewish
support. This effects fundraising, media and cultural commentary, as well as
voting patterns in a number of key swing states.

The White House has been very concerned not to appear anti-Israel, even as
it applies very one-sided pressure on Netanyahu. BTW - many leftist Israelis
are happy about WH pressure on Bibi."

Wonkette Forlornly Denuded Of Advertisers Goes Palin Attack Berserk

The execrable Wonkette, having lost a fabulous 43! advertisers (see the irrepressible Ron Devito's  

"US For Palin" site for the full list) to the campaign of the righteous from right (mostly) and left (a few) who were sickened by that " meta humor' sites disgusting attack on Sarah Palin's handicapped child have erupted in a veritable Vesuvius of venom striking blindly out at Palin.

In the days subsequent to their being exposed for the horrible pack they are Wonkette has run with three articles attacking Palin.

Sadly for them Palin has not made any public statements of note, so in their latest childish outburst they have dug up (from April 17th) an ever so condescending article from the ultra-liberal Los Angeles Times which looks down the authors nose-Charles Gibson style at Palin, which Wonkette headlines as "Los Angeles Times calls Palin a "special needs Case'. Ha ha-get it? Of course the newspaper did no such thing.

The execrable Wonkette can rant and foam at the mouth and hit out at their (self inflicted) tormentors-they hint that Andrew Breitbart is next up for their latest "expose" (which I look forward to-as it should be the death knell of Wonkette by taking him on) but the empty advertising space on their front page tells the true story  of who was the winner and who was the loser in this sorry tale of liberal hubris.

Iowa Caucus Poll: Palin 33%-Huck/Mitt/Tpaw Combined 18%

At the "2012 Iowa Caucus" site which bills itself as presenting "Official News, Information And Analysis For The 2012  Iowa Presidential Caucuses" in a very impressive and comprehensive manner-with prospective candidates biographies and up to date information the results as of this writing for their poll are as follows;

As can be seen the percentage for Governor Palin exceeds the combined percentage for Huckabee/Romney/Gingrich/Bachman/Pawlenty/Trump/Barbour.

This poll has recorded a substantial number of votes which makes the result all the more striking and
emphatic. However, as totally opposed to the current media meme that Palin is "finished, cast aside for Trump
the result mirrors, time and time again, the poll results from other major sites where GOP activists congregate.

For example, the last two Hot Air polls of over 7000 respondents showed Palin increasing her lead to 35% across a large field which entirely mirrors the results of this latest Iowa poll. The lesson is, once again, that irrespective of what the media wishes to promote, the activists in the GOP want a genuine conservative candidate-and that person is Palin. When she announces these results will only get bigger as the field collapses at that point.

Easter Sunday Reflections On Baptism In the Spirit

As part of a series of occasional wanderings from things political into things metaphysical here is an exposition on the workings of the Holy Spirit. This a an amalgam of various postings and my own commentary as my knowledge is far to poor to have made such a deep analysis with so many insights.The compilation speaks to me of my own experience and hopefully it is inspiring to others.

BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT

IT IS CONSIDERED ALL CHRISTIANS HAVE THE INDWELLING HOLY SPIRIT BY THE FACT THEY ARE BAPTISED WITH WATER AND LIVING IN A STATE OF GRACE, ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE ACCEPTED JESUS AS THEIR PERSONAL SAVIOUR.

THIS POSITION IS, HOWEVER, ONE THAT MIXES THREE SEPARATE SPIRITUAL STATES; FIRSTLY) THAT OF A BAPTISED CHRISTIAN IN THE STATE OF GRACE (WHO IS SACRAMENTALLY A CHRISTIAN “BAPTISED INTO CHRIST”) (1)Gal.3:27

SECONDLY) THAT OF A CHRISTIAN WHO IS “BORN AGAIN” (REGENERATED). THAT IS, A CHRISTIAN WHO HAS UNDERGONE A KIND OF “CONVERSION” WHICH INVOLVES A KNOWLEDGE OF AND COMMITMENT TO JESUS AS ONE’S LORD AND PERSONAL SAVIOUR (2) Gal.2:20

AND…. THIRDLY) THAT OF A CHARISMATIC CHRISTIAN WHO HAS RECEIVED THE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT AS AN EXPERIENCE SEPARATE FROM, USUALLY SUBSEQUENT TO, A “CONVERSION” EXPERIENCE (3)Titus.3:4-5

THE PENTECOST EXPERIENCE OF BECOMING CHARISMATIC BY BEING “BAPTISED IN THE SPIRIT” (4) Acts.1:5 IS SOMETHING CLEARLY DISTINCT FROM, AND BEYOND, THE EXPERIENCE OF BECOMING A CHRISTIAN BY BEING “BAPTISED INTO CHRIST” (5) Rom.6:3 BY WATER.THE TWO BAPTISMS HAVE TOTALLY DIFFERENT PURPOSES.

WATER BAPTISM MAKES ONE A CHILD OF GOD IN A SPECIAL WAY, GRAFTING ONE INTO THE BODY OF CHRIST (6 Gal.3:27/7 Rom.6:3 WHILE SPIRIT BAPTISM GIVES ONE CHARISMATIC POWER TO BE AN EFFECTIVE WITNESS OR EVANGELIZER IN BUILDING THE KINGDOM (8 Acts.1:8-9 9 Luke.24:48-49).

THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN VARIOUS BAPTISMS IS SCRIPTURAL (10 Heb.6:2)

All FOUR GOSPELS QUOTE JOHN THE BAPTIST EMPHASISING THAT DISTINCTION “I BAPTISE YOU WITH WATER, BUT HE WILL BAPTISE YOU WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT” (11 Mat.3:21/12 Mark.1:8/13 Luke 3:16/14 John.1:33)

JESUS ALSO MAKES THE DISTINCTION IN A PRE-PENTECOST DISCOURSE WITH HIS DISCIPLES IN JOHN (15 14:17,) BY USING TWO DIFFERENT PREPOSITIONS; ‘WITH’ AND ‘IN’; ‘THE SPIRIT…LIVES WITH YOU (NOW) AND WILL BE IN YOU (LATER)” JESUS THUS CLEARLY DISTINGUISHED BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT LEVELS OF INTIMACY BY WHICH THE SPIRIT CAN RELATE TO AN INDIVIDUAL.

THE BAPTISMS MENTIONED IN HEBREWS (16 6:2 ) WERE REFERRED TO BY JESUS AT THE BEGINNING OF HIS PUBLIC LIFE; IN JOHN (17 3;5 ) HE TELLS NICODEMUS THAT A PERSON MUST BE ‘BORN OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT.’THEN, AT THE VERY END OF HIS EARTHLY EXISTENCE, JUST BEFORE HIS ASCENSION, HE AGAIN DISTINGUISHES BETWEEN THE TWO BAPTISMS “JOHN BAPTISED WITH WATER, BUT IN A “FEW DAYS” YOU WILL BE BAPTISED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT’ (18 Acts.1:5)

THE DISCIPLES WERE ALREADY CHRISTIANS, OF COURSE, AS SHOWN BY THE FACT THAT THEY HAD ALREADY RECEIVED SPIRITUAL LIFE FOR HAVING ‘HEARD HIS WORD AND BELIEVED IN THE ONE WHO SENT HIM”(19 John.5:24). JESUS HAD ASSURED THEM THEIR ‘NAMES WERE WRITTEN IN HEAVEN“(20 Luke.10:20).

FURTHERMORE, THE RESURRECTED JESUS HAD BREATHED UPON THEM, EVEN IMPARTING THE HOLY SPIRIT TO ACTIVATE A MINISTERIAL GIFT OF FORGIVING SINS (21 John.20:22-23). YET HE TOLD THEM TO PRAY FOR (22 Luke.11:13) AND TO WAIT FOR (23 Luke.24:49/ 24 Acts.1:4) A SUBSEQUENT (AND THEREFORE SEPARATE) GRACE OF THE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT A “FEW DAYS “ AFTER HIS ASCENSION (25 Acts.1:5) –CLEARLY AN ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE BEYOND THE CHRISTIANITY THEY HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING.

AN EXAMPLE IS SEEN IN 26 ACTS.19:2 PAUL FOUND TWELVE DISCIPLES AT EPHESUS WHO WERE BELIEVERS AND ASKED THEM “DID YOU RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT WHEN (OR AFTER) YOU BELIEVED?”

WHEN THEY ANSWERED IN THE NEGATIVE, PAUL BAPTISED THEM. THEN , “WHEN PAUL PLACED HIS HANDS ON THEM, THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME UPON THEM AND THEY SPOKE IN TONGUES AND PROPHESISED” (27 Acts.19:6).IF BELIEVING OR BEING CONVERTED CARRIED WITH IT THE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT, THEN PAUL’S QUESTION WOULD HAVE BEEN MEANINGLESS.

THE EPHESIANS’ BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS SUBSEQUENT TO (AND THEREFORE DISTINCT FROM) THEIR BELIEF IN CHRIST AND ALSO DISTINCT FROM THEIR WATER BAPTISM.  WHILE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT IS ALWAYS DISTINCT FROM THE CONVERSION EXPERIENCE, IT NEED NOT NECESSARILY BE SUBSEQUENT TO IT, AS THE CASE OF CORNELIUS’ HOUSEHOLD, ALL OF WHOM RECEIVED THE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT BEFORE THEY WERE BAPTISED IN WATER.(28 Acts 10:44-48 ).

IN RECOUNTING THIS EPISODE AT THE COUNCIL OF JERUSALEM (29 ACTS 15;7-9) PETER REFERRED TO TWO SEPARATE ACTS: PURIFYING THEIR HEARTS BY FAITH (CONVERSION) AND RECEIVING THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. PETER CLEARLY IDENTIFIES THE EXPERIENCE OF CORNELIUS’ HOUSEHOLDWITH THAT OF THE DISCIPLES ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST(30 ACTS.11:15-17;15:8)TO ILLUSTRATE: COMMON TERMS SUCH AS “BAPTISED IN/WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT” “POURED OUT” AND “GIFT” APPEAR IN BOTH ACCOUNTS.

PAUL’S BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT AT THE HANDS OF ANANIAS CAME THREE DAYS AFTER HIS CONVERSION ON THE ROAD TO DAMASCUS, AND JUST BEFORE HIS WATER BAPTISM (31 ACTS 9:3-18). HERE AGAIN, SPIRIT-BAPTISM IS SEEN AS DISTINCT FROM A CONVERSION EXPERIENCE AND DISTINCT FROM WATER BAPTISM.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING IS TO REGARD SPIRIT BAPTISM AS A ONE-TIME ISOLATED EVENT, RATHER THAN THE BEGINNING OF A ‘GROWTH IN THE SPIRIT” WITH THE POSSIBILITY FOR FURTHER “REFILLING” PERIODICALLY WHEN PETER AND JOHN JOINED IN A PRAYER MEETING AFTER BEING RELEASED FROM PRISON, THEY WERE REFILLED BY A DEEPENED PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (32 Acts 4:31) .THE EXACT TRANSLATION OF (33 EPHESIANS ( 5:18 ) IS NOT “BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT” BUT ”BE BEING FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT” –AN ONGOING, RECEPTIVE EXPERIENCE

THUS, IT IS CLEAR THAT THE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT IS AN EXPERIENCE OVER AND ABOVE EXPERIENCES OF WATER BAPTISM AND THE BORN AGAIN EXPERIENCE, AND IN GENERAL, THE CONVERSION EXPERIENCE.

IT ADDS TO THE “INDWELLING” OF THE SPIRIT A NEW KIND OF PRESENCE- AN “INFILLING” THAT CAN PRODUCE EMPOWERMENT AND GROWTH- A GROWTH IN THE FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT (34 GAL.5:22-23) AS WELL AS THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT (35 1TIM.4:14 ) 36 2 Tim.1:6).

ALTHOUGH PAUL FOUND MUCH TO CRITICISE AMONG THE CORINTHIAN CHRISTIANS, HE STILL CALLED THEM ‘SANCTIFIED’, AND YET “CALLED TO BE HOLY” (37 1 Cor.1:2) THAT IS, HE ATTRIBUTED TO THEM WHAT SOME THEOLOGIANS CALL ‘POSITIONAL SANCTIFICATION”, AND YET HE URGED THEM TO “PROGRESSIVE SANCTIFICATION”. THE GROWTH FACTOR IN THIS “PROGRESSIVE SANCTIFICATION” IS THE HOLY SPIRIT HIMSELF  (38 1 Peter.1:2 ) ( 39 Rom.13:16 ). WHO “HELPS US IN OUR WEAKNESS AND INTERCEDES FOR US (40 Rom.8:26).

HENCE IT FOLLOWS THAT THOSE WITH A RELATIONSHIP WITH THIS “SPIRIT OF HOLINESS” ( 41 Rom.1:4) THROUGH THE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT HAVE OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRACES INDUCING THAT GROWTH. (42 1.Th.3:13 ) (43 John 7:38-39)

IS BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT (AS AN EXPERIENCE DISTINCT FROM WATER BAPTISM) NECESSARY TO THE CHRISTIAN LIFE? THE ANSWER IS NO.  BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT IS NOT NECESSARY FOR SALVATION.THE REQUIREMENTS FOR SALVATION ARE REPENTANCE, FAITH AND BAPTISM (44 Acts 2:38 ) ( 45 Mk.16:16 ).

NEITHER IS BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT NECESSARY TO EXPERIENCE POWER IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE. THE TWELVE AND THE SEVENTY TWO WENT OFF ON MISSION WITH THE POWER AND AUTHORITY OF GOD (46 Lk. 9:1,6 ) 47 Lk. 10:17,19 ,EVEN PRIOR TO PENTECOST.THE REQUIREMENT FOR POWER IN MINISTRY IS SIMPLY FAITH (48 Jn.14:12).

BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT IS NOT NECESSARY TO EXPERIENCE THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT.THERE ARE MANY CHRISTIANS TODAY WHO DO NOT DISPLAY EVANGELISTIC FERVOUR BUT CERTAINLY EXHIBIT LOVE, JOY, PEACE PATIENCE, KINDNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF CONTROL (49 Gal.5: 22:23). WE CAN EXPERIENCE FRUIT AS WE GIVE OURSELVES TO CHRIST AND LIVE IN HIS SPIRIT (50 Gal.5: 24:25)

THUS TO LIVE A GOOD AND FRUITFUL CHRISTIAN LIFE, WE CAN DO WITHOUT THE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT.BUT WE CAN ALSO EXPERIENCE, THAT BEYOND CONVERSION, GENEROSITY, BEYOND EFFECTIVE SERVICE, BEYOND EXPERIENCING FRUIT, BEYOND SALVATION,THERE IS BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT. THEN WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

IN THE FIRST CASE i.e. WATER BAPTISM, WE ARE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT.WE BECOME A “WELL OF LIVING WATER’. IN THE SECOND CASE SPIRIT BAPTISM, WE ARE FILLED TO OVERFLOWING, AND BECOME “RIVERS OF LIVING WATER” THESE RIVERS OF LIVING WATER GENERATE POWER AND BOLDNESS WE NEED TO CARRY OUT GOD’S PURPOSE FOR US.

“BUT WHOSOEVER DRINKS OF THE WATER THAT I SHALL GIVE HIM SHALL NEVER THIRST: BUT THE WATER THAT I SHALL GIVE HIM SHALL BE IN HIM A WELL OF LIVING WATER SPRINGING UP TO EVERLASTING LIFE.” (51John.4:14)

IN THE LAST DAY, THAT GREAT DAY OF THE FEAST, JESUS STOOD AND CRIED, SAYING, “IF ANY MAN THIRST, LET HIM COME TO ME, AND DRINK.HE THAT BELIEVES ON ME, AS THE SCRIPTURE HAS SAID, OUT OF HIS INNERMOST BEING SHALL FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER”. [BUT THIS SPOKE HE OF THE SPIRIT, WHICH THEY THAT BELIEVE ON HIM SHALL RECEIVE: FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS NOT YET GIVEN; BECAUSE JESUS WAS NOT WAS NOT YET GLORIFIED [ASCENDED TO HEAVEN] (52 John.7:37:38

LET US NOW TRY TO DEFINE WHAT IS BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT.

THE BASIC TEXT IS (53 Acts.1:8 ) “YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES UPON YOU, AND YOU WILL BE MY WITNESSES IN JERUSALEM, THROUGHOUT JUDEA AND SAMARIA, AND TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH." ACCORDING TO LUKE, THESE ARE THE VERY LAST WORDS OF JESUS, AND IT IS AFTER SAYING THIS THAT JESUS ASCENDS INTO HEAVEN ( 54 Acts.1;9)  THE VERY IMPORTANT LAST WORDS.THE VERY FINAL INSTRUCTIONS.THE VERY KEY TO BRINGING ABOUT WHAT JESUS HAD COME INTO THE WORLD FOR-THE SALVATION OF THE WORLD.

WHAT IS BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT? IT IS AN INFILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT BY WHICH A PERSON IS EMPOWERED TO BE A LIVING WITNESS TO JESUS FOR THE PURPOSE OF GLOBAL EVANGELIZING !!

WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS THAT THERE IS A RENEWED OUTPOURING OF THE SPIRIT IN ONE’S LIFE.

THIS POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ENABLES US TO BECOME EFFECTIVE.THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IS IMPARTED NOT JUST TO ENABLE US TO LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE, BUT TO ENABLE US TO DO A VIBRANT AND EFFECTIVE MINISTRY .IT IS THE POWER FOR MISSION.

THE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT EXPANDS OUR VISION, STIRS OUR HEARTS TO ACTION, SUSTAINS US WITH PERSEVERANCE, EMPOWERS US WITH SPIRITUAL GIFTS, AND FILLS OUR HEARTS WITH GREAT JOY AS WE DO OUR MISSION.GOD WANTS THE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT FOR EVERYONE.

”FOR THE PROMISE IS MADE TO YOU AND TO YOUR CHILDREN AND TO ALL THOSE FAR OFF, WHOMEVER THE LORD OUR GOD WILL CALL” (55 Acts.2:39). ALL FOLLOWERS OF JESUS CHRIST ARE CALLED TO HOLINESS AND ALL ARE CALLED TO MISSION.

THIS INFILLING CAN BE AN ACTUAL PHYSICAL EXPERIENCE.I HAVE SEEN IT DESCRIBED MANY TIMES AS “A GENTLE BREEZE, OR LIKE A CURTAIN OF HONEY, FLOWING THROUGH THE BODY FROM OUTSIDE THE BODY FROM HEAD TO TOE”. IT MIGHT BE WHAT THE DISCIPLES EXPERIENCED WHEN JESUS “BREATHED UPON THEM IMPARTING THE HOLY SPIRIT” (56 John.20:22

THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT IT IS A GENUINE PHYSICAL MANIFESTATION AND IMPARTS AN INCREDIBLE BLESSING.IT DOESN”T MAKE THE RECIPIENT IN ANY WAY BETTER OR DIFFERENT FROM CHRISTIANS WHO LIVE BY FAITH ALONE, IN FACT IT MAKES THEM EQUAL AS IT CAN BE SEEN AS AN AID TO THOSE WHO ARE WEAK IN THE FAITH.

RATHER, IT SIMPLY MEANS THAT THEY HAVE BEEN BAPTISED IN THE SPIRIT FOR SOMETHING THAT GOD WANTS THEM TO DO WHICH THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO DO WITHOUT HIS GRACE AND HIS FREELY GIVEN POWER TO DO IT.

HOW CAN ONE BE BAPTISED IN THE SPIRIT? AS WITH ALL THINGS EMANATING FROM GOD’S LOVE IT IS COMPLETELY SIMPLE AND COMPLETELY FREE- JUST ASK FOR IT! YOU ONLY HAVE TO DO TWO THINGS.

FIRST, ONCE YOU HAVE ACCEPTED JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOUR YOU JUST HAVE TO ASK GOD TO BAPTISE YOU IN THE HOLY SPIRIT.THE BIBLE SAYS “ASK AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN TO YOU” (57 Luke.11:9).

SECOND, BELIEVE YOU HAVE IN FACT RECEIVED THIS GIFT FROM GOD.THE APOSTLE PAUL, WRITING TO THE GALATIANS, SAID “DID YOU RECEIVE THE SPIRIT BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW, OR BY HEARING WITH FAITH”?  58 Gal 3:2). THE OBVIOUS ANSWER IS, BY FAITH.  YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT IF YOU ASK, YOU WILL RECEIVE.

I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT, AS IN THE GOSPELS, THIS ASKING SHOULD BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE LAYING ON OF HANDS- BUT I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT, AS GOD CAN DO ANYTHING, IT CAN BE RECEIVED SIMPLY BY ASKING.

HERE IS A PRAYER TO ASK BY IF YOU SINCERELY WISH TO RECEIVE THE BAPTISM IN GOD’S HOLY SPIRIT:

“HEAVENLY FATHER, AT THIS MOMENT I COME TO YOU. I THANK YOU THAT JESUS SAVED ME. I PRAY THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT MIGHT COME UPON ME. LORD JESUS BAPTISE ME NOW IN THE HOLY SPIRIT.

I RECEIVE BAPTISM IN THE SPIRIT RIGHT NOW BY FAITH IN YOUR WORD. MAY THE ANOINTING, THE GLORY, AND THE POWER OF GOD COME UPON ME AND INTO MY LIFE RIGHT NOW.MAY I BE EMPOWERED FOR YOUR SERVICE FROM THIS DAY FORWARD.COME INTO MY LIFE LORD JESUS.
