The message from the CNN poll (which shows substantial movement to Gingrich) is clear. Even Erickson at RedState sees it is time for Perry to remove himself from the fray and endorse.Erickson doesn't explicitly say it should be Gingrich but even Blind Bob could read his column and work it out.
The Palin's have endorsed Newt in SC and Newt has asked Santorum to pull out of the race as well-a perfectly valid statement unless Santorum wishes the vote to be split and for Romney to win.But if Santorum won't leave the race I suggest his supporters should leave him in SC as, as Palin points out, the race can continue. Otherwise it may be all over and what would Santorum have gained?
A CNN/Time/ORC International poll indicates that 33% of likely South Carolina Republican primary voters say they are backing Romney, with 23% supporting Gingrich. The former Massachusetts governor's 10 point advantage over the former House speaker is down from a 19 point lead two weeks ago. According to the survey, former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania is at 16%, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is at 13%, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry stands at 6%.
