Outstanding Collection Of John W. Davis 1924 Campaign Memorabilia

I am a big fan of presidential campaign memorabilia,especially the buttons. I started when very young and built up a pretty good collection including Lincoln ferro types and my prize an Blaine for president flag banner which came from an old barn in Maine. One thing I did not have was a selection from the 1924 campaign of John W. Davis however.

That was because they are extremely difficult to find and very expensive. the Davis campaign was beaten before it started and clearly the Democrats decided they would not put much effort into promoting him so unlike e.g. the Bryan or McKinley campaigns which saw a veritable flood of items there are very few Davis pieces extant.

Thus I am delighted to have found a museum collection of Davis items which include a whole range of subjects most of which I have never seen and I doubt if many others, including serious collectors, would have seen them. I would imagine the collection would be worth upwards of a quarter of a million dollars with so many rare items but that is only part of the story of course. 

I congratulate the Davis museum people on their great work and thank them for bringing it to the wider pubic. A virtual museum of the 1924 presidentialcampaign of John W. Davis

The 1924 campaign of 1924 Democratic Party nominee John W. Davis is one of the most obscure of the twentieth century. Davis was defeated in a landslide by President Calvin Coolidge who had taken office upon the death of the popular Warren G. Harding. Relatively few promotional items were made to support the candidacy of Mr. Davis, and of those, hardly any were saved. Consequently, such items are very hard to obtain by collectors of political campaign memorabilia. This virtual museum has been put together to show historians and collectors the materials produced for the Davis campaign. Most of the pictures are from the collections of private collectors. Some have been electronically produced based upon the historical record. If any of these are in error we would welcome corrections or accurate photos.  Do you know of any items we have not listed?
