"The Establishment Is Terrified of Ron Paul & On A Mission To Destroy Him"
So says James Quinn at the financial review website "The Market Oracle" in a retrospective of 2011 and a look at 2012 AT THIS LINK
Mr. Quinn is hard hitting, highly critical of the economic powers that be as his articles title would indicate; "2011,Wall Street Shysters Stock Markets Targets Year In Review". Don't let that feisty title, and gloom and doom indications put you off from reading what he has to say however. He has been unerring in his predictions, scarily so, and what he sees going forwards is frightening or exciting depending on your point of view.
Quinn rips to shreds the stock market hype artists, and the government statisticians, who gloss over economic aspects they don't want to discuss, and who report statistics that are non-reality based. His failings it appears are actually under-predicting how calamitous 2011 would be, and the dramatic revolutions that have taken place and will take place, because of the current and coming economic dislocation.
Here is just one paragraph that gives a taste of how terrible things really are, and how much worse they will get, followed by his support of Ron Paul. I am not a Paul person but encourage Iowa caucus goers to vote for him on the 3rd as I set out AT THIS LINK. Perhaps there is more to the Paul story than I have originally envisaged?

"There is absolutely no way that Ben Bernanke could ever reduce the Federal Reserve balance sheet to the pre-crisis level without destroying the U.S. economy. He knows that and will never sell off those toxic mortgage assets. Not only won't he reduce the Fed balance sheet, but by mid-2012 he will institute QE3 and buy another $600 billion of mortgage debt. His hubris knows no bounds, as his reckless illegal actions thus far have not driven interest rates sky high - YET. He has only destroyed the finances of senior citizens, savers and people who eat food and use gasoline. He will surely go down in history, but not the way he envisions.
The rise in oil to $91 a barrel will not be a top. The Catch-22 of a declining dollar is that prices of all imported goods go up. If the dollar falls another 10%, the price of oil will rise above $120 a barrel and push the economy back into recession.
As Bernanke printed like a drunken sailor during the first six months of 2011, the USD fell by 9% and the price of oil did exactly as expected, rising to a peak above $125. The NATO "intervention" in Libya also added a few bucks to the price of a barrel of sweet crude.
No one in the MSM or government anticipated that the only truthful, honest, forthright politician in Washington D.C. - Ron Paul - could possibly win the Iowa caucus. His message of freedom, liberty, self reliance, and non-interventionism has struck a chord with young people and those capable of distinguishing between MSM propaganda and reality. The establishment is terrified of Ron Paul and is now on a mission to destroy him. What they don't realize is their time is coming to an end. The existing social order will be swept away in a violent manner. The youth of this country will lead the charge. 2012 should be a real doozy."

Palin in Washington Post: Take on Elites, Become Energy Independent
Posted by Ron Devito on December 31, 2011
The Washington Post today asked several key 2012 hopefuls who had declined to run what the would be campaigning on. Following is the complete transcript of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s response:
Given the concerns I have for some of the Republican field’s focus thus far, I must implore the candidates to do something that sounds self-promoting, but whatever. Candidates, please turn to Chapter Three of “Going Rogue” and read what it takes for our country to step toward energy independence. Note the lesson I share in the same chapter about taking on the “elite,” the crony capitalists and the permanent political establishment to get a job done.
Do you really realize what is at stake? What is at stake is our republic. The gravity of today’s situation is real. We count on you to lead our nation on the right path. Please let us know you realize this. Understand how the left’s terrifyingly naive assault on American industry exposes us to the mercy of foreign regimes whose prime objective is, at worst, our permanent demise and, at best, is stripping away our freedom. God has blessed America with ingenuity, natural resources and the strength of our workforce. Let’s use them. Tell voters that you understand this. Talk about this on the campaign trail. And quit gripin’ and moaning about “inside baseball” partisan machinations and maneuvering. We have other things to worry about. Stay strong. Focus on defending our republic and how we’ll re-industrialize our most exceptional nation in order to defeat the incumbent and win for America.

"I swear to all that's holy that I would pay serious money to watch the reactions of the moonbats when President Gingrich and Vice President Palin are sworn in."
That title is of course the quote of the day-if not the fast receding year from (Director Blue) Doug Ross @ journal AT THIS LINK
Doug goes on to present ( "Newt Gingrich just rang up a few extra points in my tally" plus some more colorful language than generally found on my sedate blog) the Gingrich article that I broke a few days ago in which he held out to Palin the Veep office or the sec of Energy role in his (hopefully) forthcoming administration.
Smitty at "The Other McCain" has a long and, as expected, well thought out series of observations " Newt Throws A Hail Sarah Pass"? on the Gingrich/Palin scenario-all in a positive manner and on Palin herself. Well worth reading AT THIS LINK
Here below is my original article on the possibly came changing subject.
*************************************************
"I can't imagine anyone who would do a better job than Palin"
At last one of the leading candidates has the courage to offer what all of them should have offered Palin when she decided not to run-a major role in their new administration.
It is a matter of much personal satisfaction to me that it is Gingrich who has made the obvious, and required move as I was one of the first to recognize Gingrich's incipient rise in the polls. The rise is foretold was not because it was Gingrich's turn as the "Not Romney of the month" but because he alone has the debate skills, policy knowledge knowledge experience, both domestic and foreign, to be a viable opponent for Obama.
Further he is a genuine conservative and, vitally I believe he would be the best candidate to propound and more importantly, bring Palin's points of view, ethical, moral, religious and policy, to his administration without flip-flopping.
Gingrich includes Palin is a list of possible VP's. This is of course acceptable and sensible. He has the right to choose whom he wishes based on regional balance etc and who he thinks would bring in the most votes. However Palin as Secretary of Energy is a sitter and there should have been no reason why any of the other candidates, if they had the guts and were not afraid of the leftist media, did not offer it to her.
I am proud of Gingrich for his statement which simply reinforces that he is far and away the best available candidate.

Gingrich Cries Over Memory Of Cancer Stricken Mother-Leftists Sewer Site Asks Is It A Campaign Trick
There is no depths to how low the leftist media will sink in their pursuit of conservatives. If the major rightist sites came anywhere near the depths of cynicism and utter depravity that the left purveys there would be a massive outcry.
Newt Gingrich displayed basic human emotion when tearing up in memory of his mother's life problems. the left,in a oh so very clever way as this "Gawker" example, puts a cynical response in a "you decide" manner-fooling no one as the site's comments section shows.
This Newall person at Gawker was a mainstay of the lowest cesspit site in the blogosphere "Wonkette" which was notorious for their disgusting attacks on Sarah Palin's family. The only good from all this is that, contrary to their intentions they energize decent thinking people to clean out the cesspool that the left inhabits.
That is a task that even Hercules who diverted a river to clean out a stable of filth would find daunting but must be undertaken.
Wonkette BTW is number 9 on my list of the top 10 blogs to avoid for ones mental health AT THIS LINK
9. Wonkette
Filthy disgusting kindergarten toilet humor. Black and white philosophy is simply left=good and right=bad. All human foibles on the right are gleefully cackled over and commented on by hundreds of juvenile minds who vie to be the most disgusting in their "snark' amongst their peers. This is the site that attacked Palin's Down syndrome child in such a vicious manner that they lost all their advertisers.
"The most pernicious race of little odious vermin that nature ever suffered to crawl upon the surface of the earth" J.Swift in Gulliver's Travels
The leftist scum at Daily Kos have joined in the attack "crocodile tears." That execrable site is number 3 on the list to avoid.
3.Daily Kos
A rabid "progressive" site. the level of invective aimed at anyone who does not toe the party line, whatever that may be as it changes from minute to minute, is astonishing. The denizens of this hell hole are termed "Kos Kids" but in fact many are ancient relics of the 1960's and although aged in body are still juvenile in mind. This is where the disgusting Tweet "mission accomplished Sarah Palin" originated from (from Kos himself) after the terrible, non-Palin related Gifford's shooting-a tweet that will live in infamy.
During the short time you started publishing I have witnessed your decay from amiable drunk through voyeur and track rat to misogynous, vitriolic pariah". Robert Hamilton on The Sun
Here is a decent man expressing human emotions which only the left could attack.
What Makes Pippa Middleton So Attractive Even To Old Goats?
What is it with Pippa Middleton that makes her so attractive?
She is only a wee thing and a few moments viewing from the, admittedly attractive posterior view would not normally be enough to make her the number one search on Yahoo today so many months after the Royal Wedding.
I think it is the overbite. In the balance of a small, heart shaped face it is wonderfully endearing and (but please don't tell my wife) I find Pippa pleasant to look at.
For those of a similar mind there is a massive lot of photo's AT THIS LINK
Here is a small sampling-I am not so obsessed that I would go through the lot, but am very pleased to see that even with my advancing years I am not dead quite yet.
Time For A Palin World Tour?
One by one the leftist media's "Sarah Palin" who bears no resemblance in reality to the real Sarah Palin, is being whittled down and will shortly have no substance in the alternative reality they have fashioned for their Pygmalion (perhaps Golem might be a better description as the creature they have fashioned is mud splattered.)
A few perspicacious commentators on the left (tellingly not in the traditional MSM) have woken up to this fact and are putting out warning signals to the broader left that they too had better wake up and start dealing with the "Genius of Palin" as Jon Stewart describes her.
It is nothing short of amazing-genius is indeed the only applicable word to describe it-that a person who was written off completely by the MSM when she resigned as Governor has, entirely by her own innate wisdom, incredible energy (Truman in 1948, also against all the odds, is an apt comparison) and political skills (so much for the McCain advisors who ridiculed her-where are they now?) become the highest profile politician in America after the President.
One by one the negative aspects the media have created for her have been destroyed. Dumb? Not this multi-million book sales author, spellbinding public speaker.
Not ready for the big time-avoiding the tough interviewers? The grillings by King/Wallace (I gave her as tough a time as I could)/Blitzer/ O'Reilly/Walters passed without negative comment on her grasp of issues. Vacuous beauty queen? Not the person who could hold an audience " in the palm of her hand" (and laugh at herself) on Conan/ Oprah (twice)/Leno.
Sensing the scales were falling from the public’s eyes the MSM and radical blogs shifted tack. Stupidly, instead of challenging what the public could clearly see is a person of intellect, they became even more shrill and vicious. A brief campaign of implying she was a racist by association fell flat when there was not the slightest evidence to back it up (and of course her mixed marriage basically insulates her against that slur).
Then came the attacks on her children, her marriage, and the latest (and most ludicrous) that she is now some sort of elitist, Hollywood money grubbing type divorced from the commonfolks she has risen above (whilst managing at the same time to be "trailer park trash"-quite a feat).
It's all so sad and so tawdry and thankfully is coming to an end. There is however one area which is open to valid criticism and that is Palin's lack of a substantial body of foreign experience at the level the public might expect in a candidate for higher office. She has addressed this to a degree with her speech to business people in Hong Kong and Korea and at a major rally in Canada where her special topic, energy, was canvassed. To this can be added her troop visits to Kosovo (where she met the Lithuanian Minister of Defense) and Iraq when Governor.
What would, I suggest, be helpful in filling this gap in her CV and removing one further impediment/MSM attack point, would be to arrange for a "grand tour" of the major European capitals in the not too distant future.
There is a good base for this as Palin met with a number of world leaders at the U.N. during the 2008 campaign and some sort of follow up structure in Europe might be put in place. I have no doubt she would be received by huge crowds wherever she went and world leaders.
No doubt the left would attack and ridicule her but their double standard-they are giving Michelle Obama the taxpayers clothes horse a pass whilst of course they lampooned Palin for looking attractive is beyond idiotic and blatant. When candidate Obama went to Europe that was hailed as a master stroke by a coming statesman so there is precedent for Palin to counter the left on that score.
Not Voting Romney Because He's RINO But Because He's Sincere Mormon
I am certain That Mitt Romney has a belief in his Mormon faith that is deeply held and sincere. It, his faith, is a mark of his character which I applaud and respect.
It appears to me that he, through his faith holds to ideals of peace, love and humanity. Indeed, I have never met a person of the Mormon faith whom I did not find anything but pleasant, especially at a number of inter-faith meetings I have attended at the Church of Latter Day Saints temples from time to time.
For me however, when it comes to choosing which candidate to vote for, especially for the highest office in the land, I am unable to separate the person from their religion when that religion is Mormonism.
I can appreciate that most, if not all religions have a degree of the fantastic about them. Much of this is clearly set out to illustrate moral precepts or is, frankly, propaganda directed at perceived enemies. However, nothing I can see in the Judeo-Christian Muslim context is divorced from historic, anthropological and archaeological reality.
Taking an undisputed source, The Book of Mormon itself we find in the introduction what is set out to be the historical setting of Mormonism. In summary the introduction advises, inter-alia, that " A glorified, resurrected being, Moroni," showed to Joseph smith in 1823 some golden plates upon which Moroni's father Mormon had inscribed the history of an ancient civilization in America and the visit of Jesus Christ to that civilization.
Again in brief " Two great civilizations came from Jerusalem
( to America) in 600 BC" namely the Nephrites and the Laminites the latter being the "Ancestors of the American Indians".There was, apparently, an older civilization the Jaredites which preceded them after "God confounded the languages at the Tower of Babel."
Now it is indisputable there there is not a single shred of archaeological evidence of any pre-Native American ("American Indian" ) civilization, especially one of the purported size and sophistication set out in the Book of Mormon. Not a building, boat or artifact, not a domestic utensil, article of jewelry or clothing, or grave, in fact, nothing at all.
The ancestors of the "American Indians" did not come from the Middle East, they are indisputably of Asian origin having crossed the ancient land bridge from Siberia. The idea that the language (or rather multiplicity of languages) of Native Americans' was "confounded in Babylonia" is ridiculous and is not of course supported by any regarded ethnologist. We are clearly dealing not with fable or even fantasy but with a romance.
Again, there is a lot to challenge in the history of the Christian religion but nothing on the level of the entire religion being divorced from any sort of reality grounded in time and place.
I appreciate that people of faith can compartmentalize their life views.World famous scientists can view their work in the strictest of rationality whilst being sincere Christians which religious dogmas they understand they adhere to as a matter of faith divorced from the mindset they use in their occupation.
However, as much as I respect this attitude (which I hold to myself) there is a point at which I have to question the mindset of those who have, as I see it, stretched the faith/rationality dichotomy beyond its limits.
Thus for Romney to hold,as I am sure he sincerely does, to the purported historic roots of the Mormon faith
shows that, to me at least, he has thought processes that are a significant aspect of his personality that are questionable in respect of wider views he might hold now or in the future.
These include concepts which, again to me, are are totally divorced from reality. I would not look to a candidate for president to have, again, as a major aspect of his very being, this sort of mindset. Simply put, if non-rationality at this core level can be accepted and acted on then, what other non-rationality can also be accepted and acted on?
It may be said that Palin might hold to a set of fundamentalist beliefs, which may or may not consider e.g. evolution to be totally true, and which might take the old testament to be literally correct.
However those views, even if held, are well within the mainstream of acceptable religiosity and have been held by world leaders throughout the ages. I would be sure the majority of voters would be comfortable electing a person to high office who subscribed to them.
It might also be stated that the same objections to Romney/Mormonism was made in respect of John F. Kennedy (and Alfred E. Smith before him) which objections have proven to be unfounded. However, the objections to Roman Catholicism was predicated on the belief that the Pope would be put in a position of having undue influence on American politics through the mechanism of a Catholic president-not primarily to the basic beliefs of the religion itself.
Whether the majority of voters would be comfortable in voting into the White House a person who held to the Mormon faith is a matter of conjecture but for me it is a settled issue.
Dan Riehl Goes All In For Perry-Is It Perry In The Long Run After All?
Noted columnist Dan Riehl AT THIS LINK considers the state of the GOP field as Iowa looms and sees Rick Perry not only rising but, in the long run, the only viable "Non-Romney.
Riehl then goes all in "Perry must be conservatives last best hope to hold off a Romney nomination"
Apart from the analysis of the current candidates, and as I have stated , I don't agree with Dan about Gingrich seeing him as the best candidate to take on Obama head to head, to me the deepest insight Riehl brings is his views on Romney.
I will never vote for Romney for reasons different from Riehl and I believe a substantial number of conservatives will sit out the 2012 election if he is the candidate. No more RINO's, it is better to lose election after election until the GOP establishment finally gets it.
Riehl takes the RINO situation to its ultimate, and frightening conclusion. I have not considered Perry, but if he is, as Riehl advises, the last best chance for a non-RINO I will most certainly vote for him.
"If you believe, as I do, that Mitt Romney is not at all instinctually conservative and will only play ball, giving us Republican politics as usual"
"Obviously, Texas Governor Rick Perry and his team must do their part, as well. Barring that, it will be Mitt and quite likely what Hillsdale College History Professor Paul Rahe recently called "just another bump in the long, gentle road leading us to soft despotism" given a Romney nomination and potential victory in 2012."

Palin Dec.5th "Voters Will Turn To 5% Polling Santorum." Dec.30th Santorum 16%
Conservatives4Palin explains the power of Palin. This is the person whom the left now calls "irrelevant and Sarah Who?"
"She makes a significantly better political candidate than political analyst but I think it’s fair to say the Governor absolutely called the Santorum surge in Iowa on December 2nd when she said that voters concerned about ideological consistency would turn towards the former Senator.
On December 2nd, Santorum was averaging less than 5% in the Iowa polling and now he’s on the verge of leaving Iowa as the last social conservative standing among the Bachmann/Perry/Santorum trio, a prospect that would have been laughable in late August."
Dear Lord Please Don't Mix Up My New Year's Resolution Result Like Last Year
“Dear God, my resolution for 2012 is a big fat bank account and a slim body, please don’t mix these two up like you did last year.” AMEN!!!
150,000+ Site Hits-Thank You For Your Interest And Comments
As indicated in the upper right hand side of the blog we, the readers and I, have soared past 150,000 page views.
This is in just over two years, but interestingly the 100,000 page view mark was achieved in September so the volume of page views has increased strikingly. All I can do is repeat the "thank you" list from the 100k mark as there is nothing I can add except to say all thanks are doubly reinforced.. Michael J.
****************************************************************************
THANK YOU !
This Blog started in November 2009 with 8 posts, posted in trepidation and with next to zero blogging skills.
As of today it has just passed the 100,000 hits mark-with a substantial proportion of those coming in the last 6 months.
Here are the official "Wordpress" statistics;
Not too bad for, as the masthead says, an occasional blog, although given the increasing response I have been posting more regularly recently. I have tried to keep the post varied and not too politically centered and have been able to have posts on religion, art, baseball, family, and a host of other subjects, including humor and satire, which I hope have piqued interest.
There have been a number of people who have acted as mentors, especially on the technical bits, and who have shown endless patience and kindness, these (their links are on the blog) include:
Josh Painter at TexansforSarahPalin
Fay at Sarah Palin Information Blog
Stacy McCain at The Other McCain
Smitty at The Other McCain
Lisa Gilmer at Saucy American in New Zealand
Ian Lazaran at Conservatives4Palin whose link to one of my posts resulted in 4,315 hits-my largest single response.
The people who were so kind as to become "followers" of this blog humble me immensely, and force me to keep posting regularly, as I feel deeply obligated to them for their interest. As I do too of course towards all those who have read and commented on the blog.
I was stunned and appreciative towards the two kind people who donated $20 -I will not dine out on caviare on the income from this blog, but the gesture was wonderful. I would hope to build this up to where it becomes a regular and sophisticated forum for conservative thought, and social commentary, but that will be up to the readers to decide if it is possible.
Again, thanks to all,
Michael Joseph Sheppard

Gingrich Holds Out VP Or Energy Secretary To Palin. For This Alone He Should be The Nominee

Dan Riehl Nails It On Romney Coulter And Santorum
Although I disagree with Dan Riehl of "Riehl World View" choice for Republican nominee, Rick Perry, preferring Newt Gingrich (sans a Palin run) I found his latest columns on the conservative voter, Santorum, Mitt Romney and Ann Coulter to be exceptional.
Rather than clip out long chunks as doing so leaves nuance behind, the best thing is to direct readers to his columns on these subjects;

Top Ten Leftist (Mostly) Blogs To Avoid For A Happy 2012
You can ensure a happy, mentally healthy 2012 simply by "taking out the trash." By not sending our negative vibrations to the universe, so to speak, you gain the benefit of not only not have brought anyone down, but lifted yourself up.
One way to do this is to avoid negativity, vainglory, hypocrisy, madness, misogyny, and basically all bad influences ending in "ess" "isy" and "yny" by not visiting blogs/web sites/columns which purvey such trash (unlike this one I might add, simply to stop wiseacres jumping in first).
Some may entice with supposed experts, pontificators, prognosticators, big media names and fancy sites, but they all lead to various levels of Dante's circles of hell. To help in this Miltonic Pilgrim's Progress I, hopefully helpfully, list the top ten sites to avoid in 2012 which will help ensure a balanced, clear and fulfilled mind. Having listed these sites it would be terribly amiss of me to link to them as the danger to innocent minds would be far to great.
I intersperse the sites with negative quotations. These may not necessarily relate to a particular site, but seem to me to encapsulate the negativity the sites, taken as a whole, create.
1. Immoral Minority
The first part of this blog's title sounds the clearest warning. This site gained notoriety at the height of the anti-Palin mania, but now a self confessed Obama re-election site. The blog's mainstay a "Gryphen' was exposed by the redoubtable Stacy McCain at The other McCain site but still blasts out Palin screeds to a dwindling audience-each screed more desperate in its attempt to find negative "facts" about Palin now that she is not running. A "Trig Truther" site still peddling the Trig is not Palin's son by birth madness which in itself should be enough of a warning to stay away.
"A monster, gibbering shrieks, and gnashing imprecations against mankind.Tearing down all shreds of modesty, past all sense of manliness and shame;filthy in word, filthy in thought, furious, raging, obscene." W.M Thackeray on Swift
2.Outside The Beltway
A long love affair between site mainstay, Doug Mataconis and his fondly gazed at infatuation Doug Mataconis. The condescension towards plain folks, especially Palin supporting plain folks drips, or rather oozes off the site.
3.Daily Kos
A rabid "progressive' site. the level of invective aimed at anyone who does not toe the party line, whatever that may be as it changes from minute to minute, is astonishing.
4. Redstate
To show I am equally against conservative sites that are negatively charged I include this supposed mainstay of the right. In fact the antagonism by some of the regulars against anyone who dares transmit anything that is against their orthodoxy du jour equals for vitriol the worse the left can produce. Leftist arrogance is sad and pathetic, rightist arrogance is disgusting as they should know better
5. Free Republic
Again, sadly, a rightist site. This is the right wing site that is equivalent to the Kos Kids of the left. The only thing that can be said in mitigation is that they are, in the main, actual kids as a quick perusal of the juvenile rantings will show. Again, arrogance, especially from the executive, oozes from the site and people are banned for expressing their opinions
6. Ann Coulter
As with leftist commentators like e.g. Kos who rose to prominence in the Bush years so to did Coulter as an outspoken defender on the right in that period. Well past her use by date and serving no purpose now that the left is in power she embarrasses herself and the right by supporting RINO's like Christie and Romney.
7.The Peril's Of Palin
The most insane site in all the blogosphere in my opinion. This atheist weirdie created anti-Palin tableau's using Barbie dolls. Has to be seen to be believed that such things exist outside of Bedlam. But please take my word for it and don't look as you might be seriously affected by such madness.
8. The Politico
The den of the Obama "Journolist" conspiracy in 2008. Another supposedly neutral political reporting site but so blatantly leftist that,as the fortunes of the left decline its total of visits shrinks constantly. A relic of the Bush years that is well past its time.
10. PoliticsUSA
Vicious, one eyed, childishly leftist world view and all the worse for the "certainty" of view it purveys. Another all leftism=good, all rightist thought actions/deeds/people=bad. Avoid like the plague.
"Approached nearer than any person mentioned in history or fiction, whether man or devil, to the idea of consummate and universal depravity" T.B Macaulay on Bertrand Barere.
Dishonorable mention. Right Wing Nut House (yes that relic is still extant) "feminist", unless the women are conservative pro-life "Shakesville" and "Pharyngula" all three vie for utter intellectual arrogance. Dare to comment against the ruling current of site thought and be cursed, damned and banned.

My Endorsement; Ron Paul For Iowa In Support Of Bachmann's Co-Chair's Endorsement of Paul
As is lighting up the blogosphere and tomorrow the MSM it is reported that Michelle Bachmann's Iowa Co-Chair, State Senator Kent Sorenson has endorsed Ron Paul for Iowa.
Although I am a strong Palin supporter and, since she is not running at present have urged conservatives to support Newt Gingrich I now urge Iowa caucus goers to support Ron Paul on January 3rd.
The latest polling from Iowa, which has been consistent, shows only three candidates with a realistic chance of winning in Iowa. Unfortunately Gingrich is not one of them. The Palin supporters are fighting a valiant effort to get Iowa supporters to caucus for her, running a series of television and radio adverts. Certainly there is logic in trying to get a reasonable level of support which they then envisage as building inexorably towards her getting into the race.
However, we have to deal with the world as we find it. I don't think Santorum has, in the remaining time left to make his case, the winning of Iowa. If he loses there I can't see him winning anywhere else-he has hinted that a poor showing might see him bow out altogether.
Newt is too far off the pace as are Bachmann and the rest and surely she is now finished. That leaves Romney and Paul. I will never vote for Romney and am confident that a large number of conservatives feel the same. I am also confident that if he is the nominee then Trump will run and the GOP should at that point give up and just support the down tickets to take the senate and hold the house (see my "Palin candidacy only insurance Trump won't run and ensure Obama's re-election).
Thus, in my opinion the very best thing for the GOP would be for Ron Paul to win Iowa and do very well in New Hampshire. If that were the case then Gingrich would have a very good chance in Florida and South Carolina and the possibility of a deadlocked convention would be very real. If that happens then what is the reality now, as someone said, the "office seeking the woman" would come into play and Sarah Palin would stand every chance of being drafted in Tampa.
For that reason I urge Gingrich/Santorum/Bachmann supporters to caucus for Ron Paul. I personally would not vote for him in any other state but in Iowa and New Hampshire if I had the vote there but to vote for him in those two states is good common sense in my opinion. Paul will not be the nominee but he can, by winning Iowa help to ensure the right person is.
I note that "Smitty' at the influential conservative blog
The Other McCain, appears, under certain circumstances, willing to consider voting for Paul;
"Could I vote for Ron Paul in a primary as a protest against GOP tomfoolery? It sounds mad, but less so over time. . ."
