Gallup;Romney 43% At McCain's Pre-Palin Level.Game Change VP Needed?

At Real Clear Politics the Gallup tracking poll has Mitt Romney at 43% against President Obama and declining. Although in the Electoral College (the latest map from
Electoral-Vote.com is illustrated below) Romney has never been ahead, he is currently a massive 114 EC votes behind, he has been up to 5 points ahead of Obama in the tracking polls.

To go from 55% to 43% in a matter of weeks is a poor indicator for the Romney campaign, with the usual caveats "polls don't count this far out, people are not paying attention and etc.

Be that as it may when the McCain team sank to 43% they considered what they might do to fire up the base and lift their numbers.

They certainly did not turn to a "boring white man" and it beggars belief that if they had chosen Romney or Pawlenty McCain would have passed candidate Obama in the polls as he did after Palin was chosen.

The history of the McCain campaign including of course Palin's dramatic entry and McCain's subsequent rise from doldrums to leader, is brilliantly set out
AT THIS LINK Further, the polling history from Gallup in 2008, chronicling McCain at 43% then rising to being in the lead, and the reason for his loss, is set out under the map below this post.

Does anyone believe that if Romney adds Portman or Pawlenty or Daniels or Thune to his ticket that he will get such a polling lift that he will pass President Obama either now or post convention?

It may be that the Romney team will go the "no drama" route and hope that either the economic situation does for Romney what it did for Obama or that the base will turn out, with eyes closed having someone else help them to put their tick next to Mitt, and vote for him because of  their "anyone but Obama" imperative.

Both of those situations may not happen. The economy might just dawdle along enough, the bully pulpit and the assistance of the leftist media might play their traditional roles and libertarian Ron Johnson might take enough conservtaive protest votes to give Obama another term.

One thing is certain though, if Romney chose Palin (if she would accept the role of course) or a Palin then he would get an immediate lift in support from most of the base. The enthusiasm for "Palin" would be palpable, as it was in 2008 and the negatives from 2008 would not come into play this time.

Everything the left could possibly dig up, make up and vomit up against Palin has been dug, made, vomited. Every aspect of her and the life of every member of her family has been dissected and distorted. The public are no doubt tired of the imitators and the "I can see Alaska shtick is tired and forlorn. No this time around the media would have to report on Palin's actual words not the caricature they make of her.

This time around Palin would be just as combative, possibly more so, and she would be media savy and not open, in her honestly and innocence, to the traps the MSM and the Journolist conspiracy set for her.

This time around, if there was a major economic downturn like the one that derailed the McCain campaign in 2008, it would be the Obama team which would feel the full brunt of the ire of the public and the spearhead thrusts of Palin.

Romney can play it safe and possibly suffer a worse defeat than McCain, or he can go for a game changer. History will show how his first "executive" decision turns out, but he has the option now to gain the base.

Gallup polls from the last presidential race prove that once Palin joined the ticket on Aug. 29, 2008, McCain’s ratings steadily climbed to a point where the Republican ticket even out shined Democratic Sen. Barack Obama.
In the two weeks before Palin joined the McCain ticket, the Arizona senator drifted in the low 40 percentile range, mostly around 41, 42 and 43 percent, while Obama held as much as an 8 point lead at about 49 and 50 percent. Four days after Palin joined the ticket, however, McCain’s numbers climbed to 45 percent and Obama’s sank to 47 percent, narrowing the gap significantly from eight points to two.
Between Sept. 4-6, McCain and Palin actually overshot the Obama ticket by 3 percent with the Republicans in the lead at 48 percent and the Democrats at only 45. McCain consistently held that lead until Sept. 15, and then the candidates balanced out with Obama enjoying a mere three-point lead, and no lead at all from Sept. 22-24, when the numbers were tied at 46 percent.
[...]
Some were intrigued as to how McCain’s decision would play out in the polls, but once he suspended his campaign in late September he never recaptured the lead he enjoyed with the breaking news of recruiting Palin.
It was downhill from there.
McCain’s campaign was taken out of suspension, but it never actually got back off the ground. From then, the gap between McCain and Obama only widened, leaving the Republicans at a severe disadvantage. McCain’s numbers remained steady around 42 and 43 percent throughout October, but Obama’s continued climbing, and by October 31, McCain’s standing had dropped to 40 percent and Obama’s had reached 53 percent - a devastating 13-percent gap.

Whose In Charge? Palin's Obamacare Ruling Tweet 6,025 Retweets Romney 's 4,529 Retweets

Just who is running the GOP's campaign at the moment? Is it the putative candidate Mitt Romney whose Massachusetts health care bill is an acknowledged precursor to Obama care?

Or is it Sarah Palin the rank and file look to for advice and taking the battle to the opposition with credibility?

Palin has been on Greta/The 5/Hannnity since the ruling and numerous comment sites/media outlets have analysed her thoughts on the matter-Romney not so much

Here's what the Twitterverse thinks (via Michael at Cool Change and Exodus2011 at Conservatives4Palin)

"Irrelevant" Palin: “Nancy Pelosi is a Dingbat”

Sarah is amazingly in demand as a commentator for someone the left advises is "irrelevant"

Palin: “Nancy Pelosi is a Dingbat”

Posted by Jackie Siciliano on June 29, 2012
dingbat: a stupid or eccentric person
Sarah Palin appeared with Sean Hannity tonight for an extensive discussion covering the recent decision of the Supreme Court to uphold the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).  Palin did not hold back as is evidenced in the title of this blog post.
Governor Palin also expressed her disgust with the members of Congress that walked out on the Holder contempt vote citing a lack of respect for the Brian Terry family.

Palin Leaves Beckel Speechless on "Death Panels"

My favorite part: At about the 2:25 mark, Bob Beckel attempts to discredit her brilliant (and effective) death panel metaphor for Obamacare’s inevitable rationing.  She knocks it out of the park, leaving Beckel speechless.

Interview With Sarah Palin On SCOTUS Decision Plus Conservative Commentary

Sarah Palin is more qualified to be the conservative spokesperson on the SCOTUS decision as she is unencumbered by the history that Mitt Romney has.

Here is her interview with Greta on the vital subject
followed by a commentary from BrianusBerkleianus from Conservatives4Palin.

She calls the Supreme Court's obamacare decision "treachery."

Note that "treachery" signifies betrayal of one's own side; it signifies treason. We expected the four Leftist Justices to side with obama, pelosi, and reid. Therefore, it is the supposed "conservative" John Roberts, principally, who is the treacherous one.

However, in the face of this treachery she urges OPTIMISM: The issue of healthcare is back in the hands of the People via their representatives.

She wants Congress to rescind the TAX in July.

"Absolutely it’s a tax; it's nearly a trillion dollars' worth … this is a penalty; it is a tax on the People; it's a tax on States, it's a raiding of Medicare funds …"

She repeats Milton Friedman's (I think it is) "There is no such thing as a free lunch."

The 50% who pay taxes will have even more taxes.

The other 50%, who think they are getting a free ride, will have less availability of healthcare; fewer choices; less efficient and more bureaucratic healthcare--it will be RATIONED." (emphasis mine)--This last statement goes right to her famous "death panels" phrase. She did not explicitly wield the words this last evening, but she implies them here!!

"[It] truly defies economic and common sense to say that healthcare with more enrollees in the program will not have to be RATIONED." (emphasis mine)

She speaks carefully about Romney.

Greta mentions him explicitly. In response to the host's specific inquiry, The Governor replies, "If Governor Romney is elected President--and let's hope the GOP does take over the White House, and can secure the Senate, and holds onto the House …" Note that she does NOT say "And let’s hope HE does take over the White House." She says, "… and let's hope the GOP does take over, etc."

Anyway, if this happens, obamacare must be repealed.

Further, TORT-REFORM and anti-competitiveness problems must be resolved.

She calls on common-sense-conservative Democrats to join in this great effort!!

If obama is reelected, we will be a fundamentally transformed country, just as he promised. If obama is reelected, America will no longer recognize herself.

obamacare is a HARBINGER of things to come.

She wants GOVERNORS to be tough, and to opt out of obamacare, and EXERT THE TENTH AMENDMENT!!!

THEN SHE HURLS THE GAUNTLET IN obama's TEETH AS ONLY SHE CAN!!!

"[He] does not understand the Constitution; he even being a Constitutional lecturer and SUPPOSED (emphasis mine) scholar in our Constitution, not understanding, probably never reading nor absorbing the Tenth Amendment to understand that STATES HAVE RIGHTS. WE ARE SOVEREIGN STATES." (emphasis mine)

Sarah well understands that obama obtained his places at Columbia and Harvard (or wherever it was) SOLELY BECAUSE HE WAS A USEFUL TOOL FOR THE RADICAL LEFT. A Clarence Thomas, for example, would never be welcome at such places!!

Two final observations:

SARAH is the one to carry the battle standard of the now revitalized and reinvigorated TEA Party in the autumn; the author of Romneycare is not the person for the task. NOBODY eviscerates barack hussein obama, and understands the heart and mind and soul of America, the way SARAH PALIN OF ALASKA does.

Also, IMHO, I suspect John Roberts of playing a sneaky double game in support of BOTH WINGS OF THE GOVERNMENT PARTY that is opposed to Sarah's nascent concept of a Party of Freedom.

Namely, Roberts saves obamacare for the Left, but also cynically figures his decision will rouse up enough conservatives to "hold their noses" and vote in Romney in November. He thus helps the entire Establishment, Left and RINO.

HuffPost Writer Chelsea Hoffman "Palin's Crosshairs Propaganda May Have Led To Gifford's Shooting"

Alleged human and Huffington Post leftist contributor one Chelsea Hoffman responded to Sarah Palin's critique of the SCOTUS health care ruling in the only way leftists seem to be able to, with disgusting innuendo and unproven claims.

Dealing with the substance of Palin's argument is clearly beyond the capability of Hoffman, but out and out Alinskyite propaganda is her forte.

Hoffman says inter-alia in her disgusting screed at Politics.Gather.com  what supposedly passes for argument from the left in the highlighted comments in red below

It is beyond belief that anyone could even use the word "may' as a qualifier to an outrageous supposition. There is absolutely no proof whatsoever, either from Loughner, who is clearly deranged, or anyone else connected with the tragedy that anything Palin said or did had an bearing on his actions.

Hoffman's statement ranks in infamy with that other alleged human Kos Moulitsas from the PDS afflicted leftist hate sight "Daily Kos" who Tweeted, after the tragedy and with no real knowledge of what caused it, "Mission accomplished Sarah Palin"

Not content with advising that Palin may have instigated Gifford's being shot in the head, the disgusting Hoffman then goes on to make totally unfounded comments about Palin's appearance, ascribing extensive plastic surgery to her. To state that Palin "looks like a wannabe terrorist leader" is frankly, bordering on the insane.

Hoffman and her ilk do a service in that they expose the unparalleled utter hatred the left has for a right to life conservative woman who lives her Christian principles. By exposing the pustular ulcers that lie at the heart of leftists, Hoffman helps the wider public to avoid them like the plague they are.

Here is Hoffman in full Palin Derangement Syndrome flight

"Maybe the plastic surgery she's been getting reduced the oxygen flow to her brain because making comments like that really makes her look like a wannabe terrorist leader! Hey, since she couldn't keep her job as Governor of Alaska without quitting like it was some fast food gig, why not be a talking head for the craziest of the crazies in the U.S.?

"Sarah Palin has a habit of using war-rhetoric, which is drenched in violence and borderline threats of "revolution." Afterall, her "crosshairs" propaganda may have been what led to Arizona democrat Gabby Giffords getting shot in the head by attempted assassin Jared Lee Loughner."

Imbecile Childish SCOTUS Comments At Leftist Hate Site "Daily Kos"

That the leftist hate site "daily Kos" is a repository for utter childish buffoons is a given. Why the site has any credence or standing is a mystery but as long as there are people with an immature outlook there will be some sort of venue for them to froth and gibber I imagine.

The site  is notable amongst such hate sites for the astonishingly childish and hateful tweet by the sites  founder one Kos Moulitsas after the Gifford's shooting "Mission accomplished Sarah Palin" and his acolytes inventing the disgusting myth that rig was not Palin's son.

In case anyone believe the site has any pretence to having any educational value the post , reproduced in part below, in respect of the SCOTUS ruling, which, whichever stance you take one must agree it is an issue of import and substance an is to be discussed rationally.

Here is the best the best minds at "Kos" can come up with after the landmark SCOTUS health care decision. It is only a small part of a cascade of childish imagery and buffoonery which is only matched by the further comments from the denizens of the site. I am not going to link to it as they don't deserve any traffic, but it is of value to see how the  hate filled minds of the leftists works.

Palin In Full Attack Mode Over Scotus"Rescind The Tax"

Mitt Romney advises that "on day one of his presidency" he will remove Obama care. In actuality it is Palin not Romney who has credibility on the issue-even president Obama pointed to Romney's Massachusetts health care law instituted by him as a precursor to his own law.

Nothing needs to be added to Palin's statement below  "Congress has the power to rescind a tax" apart from the musing that perhaps there is still time to change candidates for the GOP nomination.

Sarah Palin: Thank you, SCOTUS.

From Sarah Palin's Facebook post:
Thank you, SCOTUS. This Obamacare ruling fires up the troops as America’s eyes are opened! Thank God.

This proves to be such an unsettling time in America as we undergo the fundamental transformation that Barack Obama promised he would do to us if elected.

Obamacare was dealt in deception and confusion by flooding the public with an overwhelming amount of conflicting “rationale” via thousands of pages of unread legislative detail, which is the radical left’s M.O.

Obama promised the American people this wasn’t a tax and that he’d never raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000.

We now see that this is the largest tax increase in history. It will slam every business owner and every one of the 50% of Americans who currently pay their taxes.

The other 50% are being deceived if they think they’re going to get a free ride – because Medicaid is broke. Recipients of Obama’s “free health care” will have fewer choices and less accessibility. Trust me – this much more expensive health care WILL be rationed; to claim otherwise defies all economic and common sense.

We will not retreat on this. A newly elected legislative branch is key to defending our Republic and fundamentally restoring all that is good in America.

SCOTUS now rules this is a tax? Well, Congress has the ability to create taxes – and also has the ability to rescind them. Upon their return from the July recess, Congress should act immediately to repeal this terrible new tax on the American people, and indeed they must repeal all of Obamacare. This is the most brazen and sweeping new tax and government overreach imposed on us. We the People did not ask for this tax, we do not want this tax, and we can’t afford this tax. This is not an answer to America’s health care challenges.

It’s time, again, for patriotic Americans to rise up to protest this obvious infringement on our economic and personal freedom. November is just around the corner. Today, the Supreme Court issued their ruling on Obamacare. In November, We the People will issue ours.

Finally A Senator Responds (Video) To Palin's Death Panels"Repeal Entire Law"Deny Bureaucrats Power

The key remarks from Senator Barrasso whilst under direct and constant prodding attack against Palin) are towards the end of the video in direct response to the question (from an MSNBC commentator) about death panels where he pointedly remarks about "faceless bureaucrats' in respect of cost management leading to denying proper care.

Governor palin's complete post on the subject follows below without the MSNBC filter

The Hill has the comments detailed below from Senator Barrasso in respect of Sarah Palin's renewed attack on the Obama administrations health care law including her terming an aspect of the law as 'death panels.

Palin was roundly criticised by the left but it is generally agreed that her attack on the Obama admin's proposals created a massive resistance to them and may have been one of the major contributing factors to the Tea party movement which led to the GOP takeover of the House in 2010.

Senator Barrasso is vehemently opposed to the law and his opinion carries extra weight as he is a medical professional as well as a law maker.

The whole The Hill article as AT THIS LINK

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said Wednesday that a portion of the controversial healthcare overhaul legislation that's designed to control Medicare costs will result in the denial of care for patients.
"You shouldn't put anyone between their doctor and their patient, not an insurance company bureaucrat, not a government bureaucrat," Barrasso said on MSNBC's "Jansing & Co."
Barrasso was responding to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's newly revived claim that President Obama's signature healthcare law would create "death panels."

"Though I was called a liar for calling it like it is, many of these accusers finally saw that ObamaCare did in fact create a panel of faceless bureaucrats who have the power to make life and death decisions about health care funding," she wrote on her Facebook page Monday.

When asked whether Palin's accusations were true, Barrasso said "I want to eliminate the entire law, have the entire law repealed."

***************************************************************************************

Governor Palin: “Death Panel” Three Years Later

As we wait for the impending Supreme Court decision on Obamacare, I reiterate what I wrote in my first post on this topic nearly three years ago. I stand by everything I wrote in that warning to my fellow Americans, because what was true then is true now, and it will remain true as we hear what the Supreme Court has to say.
It was a pretty long post, but a lot of people seem to have only read two words of it: “death panel.” Though I was called a liar for calling it like it is, many of these accusers finally saw that Obamacare did in fact create a panel of faceless bureaucrats who have the power to make life and death decisions about health care funding. It’s called the Payment Advisory Board (IPAB ), and its purpose all along has been to “keep costs down” by actually denying care via price controls and typically inefficient bureaucracy. This subjective rationing of care is what I was writing about in that first post:
The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s “death panel” so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their “level of productivity in society,” whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.
Health care by definition involves life and death decisions. Human rights and human dignity must be at the center of any health care discussion.
Rep. Michele Bachmann highlighted the Orwellian thinking of the president’s health care advisor, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of the White House chief of staff, in a floor speech to the House of Representatives. I commend her for being a voice for the most precious members of our society, our children and our seniors.
We must step up and engage in this most crucial debate. Nationalizing our health care system is a point of no return for government interference in the lives of its citizens. If we go down this path, there will be no turning back. Ronald Reagan once wrote, “Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth.” Let’s stop and think and make our voices heard before it’s too late.
If the Supreme Court doesn’t strike down Obamacare entirely, then Congress must act to repeal IPAB and Obamacare before it is indeed too late.” All of Obamacare must go one way or another.

Top Ten Songs For Cats (And Their Human Slaves)

Music reviewer Bob Tarte has an article up on how his music and pets gets jumbled up (in a good way) at the Algonquin site AT THIS LINK. Bob has compiled a list of the top ten cat centered songs especially for cats and their human slaves. There is a site which has a taste of some-Orriel Smith's cat songs

Ten Catterrific Songs

By Bob Tarte
For 20 years I somehow managed to crank out a world music review column for The Beat magazine, and I rarely think about it now without also thinking about our pets. My first book, Enslaved by Ducks, got its start in the little essays about our critters that frequently opened the column. Cats took a backseat to bunnies, ducks, geese, and parrots, though, because bird and rabbit antics seemed more spectacular to me back then. While I partially make amends for past omissions by delving into the mysteries of cat personalities in my new book –  Kitty Cornered – I still feel that I owe Frannie, Agnes, Maynard, Tina, Moobie, and Lucy. So I’ve compiled a list of Ten Catterrific Songs that they might approve of – if they ever approved of anything that a mere human does.

1. Cab Calloway and His Orchestra, “We the Cats Shall Hep Ya”
I get it that this song is about humans. But does anyone doubt that the slinky, self-satisfied housecat is the archetype of cool? The skittery rhythms of jazz, its nimble changes in direction and the gravity-defying acrobatics suggest a cat as strongly as they say nay to a horse, dog, or goat. And Cab is cat hepness personified here, exuding the condescension for the congenitally uncool that real life cats can’t hide. Hidey-hi-dee-meow.
2. Solomon Linda and the Evening Birds, “Mbube” (The Lion)
Not only is this 1939 South African recording the original mbube version of the blockbuster “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” but it’s also the song that gave a Zulu a cappella genre its name. Musicologist Alan Lomax played “Mbube” for Pete Seeger, who re-worked it for The Weavers – and the king of cat songs has been with us ever since. But no version wields claws as sharp as the original.
3. Orriel Smith, “Salut D’Amour, Op. 12,” by Edward Elgar
Best known as the octave hopping folkie from 1963’s A Voice in the Wind LP, Orriel Smith has expanded her following to winged and furred fans. Her version of “Salut D’Amour” dares to dream how Elgar’s composition for violin and piano would sound if the violin was replaced by a singing cat. This coloratura soprano has the chops to pull it off. Her two CluckOratura CDs star herself gliding through classical pieces as an operatic chicken.
4. Ă‘ico Saquito, “AdiĂłs Compay Gato” (Goodbye Mr. Cat).
A cat gets a bum rap as a symbol of cuckoldry in this rustic guaracha by legendary Cuban songwriter, performer, and baseball player Ă‘ico Saquito, whose career got a posthumous bounce following the success of Ry Cooder’s Buena Vista Social Club projects. “The cat catches the mouse, the mouse eats cheese, the cheese comes from milk, milk comes from the cow, and the cow has two horns. Do you see what I mean?” No, so I’d better listen another hundred times.
 5. Ian Whitcomb, “Chester the Cat”
At the peak of the British invasion, Ian Whitcomb scored a rock hit with “You Turn Me On.” But his passion has always been ragtime. The rollicking British music hall arrangement of “Chester the Cat” morphs sweetly into a waltz at the end. “The song was directly inspired – nay commissioned – by the dying and much beloved cat of my wife, a gorgeous Maine Coon,” Ian told me. “He lay at my feet as I picked at the piano.” Ian plays musette accordion, and film composer David Raksin conducts the Bungalow Boys orchestra.
6. Osamu Minagawa, “Kuroneko no Tango” (The Black Cat Tango)
This song about a black cat barely missed being chucked into the too-cute-for-comfort receptacle by yours truly. The first thing that saved it was the sheer perversity of a six-year-old boy scoring a million-seller hit with a Japanese version of an Italian version of an Argentine tango. Second, it survived by dint of a melody and performance that a single listening will embed in your head for days – sort of like a severe migraine. On second thought, I should have chucked it.
7. Parov Stelar, “Catgroove”
Swing and techno music aren’t all that far apart. Both bristle with the industrial tensions of their day. Mass production steams at full tilt in the precision horn charts of swing, while information technology runs amok in techno. Austrian DJ and bandleader Parov Stelar welds both styles together with appropriate wooziness in a reed and brass soundtrack to a tom’s big night out. The sharp foreground and blurry, purry backdrop add to the cartoonish sense of temporal displacement.
8. Norma Tanega, “Walkin’ My Cat Named Dog”
Kudos to anyone who can actually take a cat for a walk, regardless of its name. While I’m tempted to dock this a few points on account of Tanega’s confession that she actually wanted a dog, but couldn’t have one in her apartment, this understated tribute to her pet overflows with joy. It was rare back in 1966 for a solo female singer to accompany herself on electric guitar – heck, it’s rare today – but you need to go to YouTube to get the full effect.
 9. Bob Marley and the Wailers, “What’s New Pussycat?”
Get your jaw up off the floor if you didn’t realize that the Wailers recorded a ska version of the Burt Bacharach classic. In their pre-reggae days, the Wailers covered pop as far afield as “Teenager in Love” and the Beatles’ “And I Love Her.” Just as you might expect, they rarely made a misstep – and certainly not here in this tough and lean antidote to Tom Jones’ blustery original. It may not exactly be “Concrete Jungle,” but it’s no “Delilah,” either.
10. Lord Kitchener, “Cat Party in the Sky”
I’m a cat lover, but a bird guy at heart. So I end with a musical morality play in which birds get the best of a kitty that’s been terrorizing them. They lend him feathers, and like Icarus he flies too high. Calypso legend Lord Kitchener built a career on the kind of humor, word play, and comedic vocals on display in this song that he recorded in the second decade of a 50-year-long career. He could tell a convincing story from the point of view of the most unlikely character, but this is the one and only song in which he speaks for cats, ducks, geese, and parrots. I can’t help but identify.

Moobie will be sharing Kitty Wisdom this Friday, 12:30-1pm Eastern, on Twitter. Have your cats tweet their questions (you can do the typing for them, if needed) to #Ask6Cats @BobTarte.

Hatch's Victory In Utah Gives Palin Six Straight Endorsement Wins; Irrelevant? Only To The Left

Final Utah GOP Senate result. Hatch 66.9/ Liljenquist 33.1

Mourdock in Indiana, Fischer in Nebraska, Cruz (Part1) in Texas, Governor Walker and Lt.Governor Kleefisch in Wisconsin and now Senator Hatch in Utah. All endorsed by Sarah Palin. All victors, prior to Utah tonight, were winners in different ways whether come from behind, or against all the odds, or didn't stand a chance when they started.

All three showed the courage of conviction by Palin who put conviction above self-interest. Certainly, if the long-shots had all lost, the leftist media would have totally written her off as irrelevant, whereas now they (or rather some) suddenly discover "the power of Palin".

Senator Hatch actively sought Palin's interaction and endorsement and, as has been the case with all the people she has endorsed in this magnificent string of wins, he went up in the polls subsequently to 60% to 32%. Final results are at the link here to the official Utah secretary of state results . Prior to Palin's endorsement Hatch had failed to be able to not be primaried as he received 59.1%  The Official site is at at this  http://electionresults.utah.gov/

In some ways Palin's endorsement of Senator Hatch took more courage than her endorsment of some of the other recent candidates whose electoral path might have seemed to be harder.

Palin received a huge amount of negative comments from the right for her Hatch endorsement but, once again, she has put her principles ahead of whatever personal cost may have come her way. This is why Palin stands head and shoulders above so many in the political world.

Here is the pre-election report from Doug Brady at Conservatives4Palin with the Palin/Hatch endorsement link. That takes Palin's recent endorsment succes rate to six out of six-but according to the left Palin is "irrelevant"

About five weeks ago or so, Governor Palin endorsed Senator Orrin Hatch in his primary contest with Dan Liljenquist.

I join other conservatives like Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, and Tea Party leaders like Sal Russo in encouraging Utah voters to return Orrin Hatch to the U.S. Senate. Since Mark Levin has always got a way with words, read what he recently told Senator Hatch: “I feel that you would be… a terrific elder statesman to a lot of these other young guys who I’m going to be pushing in these other states.” I’m with Mark. That’s spot on.
We need Orrin’s conservative Reagan-like leadership – and our new crop of conservative senators Richard Mourdock, Deb Fischer, and Ted Cruz might need some friendly advice finding their way around the Senate.

Since that time, Liljenquist has tried a variety of theatrics, including debating himself, in an effort to gain traction. Liljenquist’s main approach has been to try and co-opt Tea Party energy by painting himself as a “grass roots” conservative arrayed against Orrin Hatch who, according to Liljenquist, is an out-of-touch elitist RINO, or whatever. The problem for Liljenquist, or course, is that neither of these characterizations is true. Indeed as Stacy and I indicated a month ago, Liljenquist’s TEA Party cred is, at best, highly suspect:

Dan Liljenquist’s campaign has stated that he would never label himself a “Tea Party” candidate, and now we see why.

Update by Doug: I’m stunned. For a couple of reasons. First, all these alleged Tea Party proponents are supporting a guy who’s already signaled his willingness to compromise with liberals on what’s supposed to be one of the Tea Party’s core principles: Tax increases. Isn’t TEA an acronym for “taxed enough already”. Not that Liljenquist would know since, as Stacy noted above, he doesn’t consider himself a Tea Party candidate anyway. I can certainly see why.
Second, these same folks who are promoting Liljenquist’s Tea Party bonafides are trashing Orrin Hatch as an Establishment RINO, Washington Insider type. And yet here we have their candidate adopting classic insider doublespeak for tax increases. Revenue enhancements? Really? But not to worry, they assure us. If only we blindly throw reliably conservative Orrin Hatch under the bus for their guy, everything will work out fine. I think not.

With the election less than 24 hours away, the latest poll out of Utah indicates that the vast majority of Republican primary voters have reached a similar conclusion:

SALT LAKE CITY — Sen. Orrin Hatch has a significant lead over his opponent in Tuesday’s GOP primary, former state lawmaker Dan Liljenquist, according to a new Deseret News/KSL-TV poll.
Sixty percent of the registered voters in Utah polled who said they will vote in the Republican primary backed Hatch’s bid for a seventh term in the U.S. Senate. Just under one-third of the respondents, 32 percent, said they supported Liljenquist.
The poll, conducted June 15-21 by Dan Jones & Associates, has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percent.
“Those are very good numbers for the senator,” Hatch’s campaign manager, Dave Hansen, said. “It’s nice that the voters of Utah, the Republican voters, have that much confidence and support for him.”

This is about the same percentage Hatch received at the convention, while Liljenquist has seen his support erode by about 8 points. The poll also gave Hatch an even bigger lead against his general election opponent, Democrat Scott Howell:

The poll found that in a general election race against Hatch, Howell would win 29 percent support to 63 percent for Hatch. Howell would do better against Liljenquist in November, with 34 percent to 48 percent for Liljenquist, according to the poll.

To summarize, it’s a virtual certainty that Senator Hatch will be heading back to DC in January.
