Yes, this time it's the same. same as in 1929,1937, all the "black swans" in-between till big black swans in 1987, 1991 and of course 2008.
I've lived through the 1987 ones onwards and read about the earlier ones and the same old same old just keeps rolling along. What is puzzling is why people just never seem to see what is right in front of their eyes,
bubble after bubble and crash after crash follow as sure as night follows day but the herd or lemmings goes over the cliff time after time.
Can "this time it's different" actually blind people-apparently so, but you are smarter than your predecessors but for those of your acquaintance perhaps the astonishingly obvious tips below might be of value. They work for me at least.
1. This time is not different. If there is a bubble in whatever-housing, gold, silver, wheat then it will burst.
2. If people jump on the bandwagon they may be very lucky and catch a rising tide, but often the average Joe will jump in at or near full tide.
3. If you jump in, the jump out with a profit. If you stay in you may be lucky but you may lose the lot. You can always use a portion of your profits to jump back in and repeat the process till the collapse comes.
4. Point three clarified. Greed is not good. Self-discipline and small profits will see you permanently on the plus side where, over time, re-investment of interest oninterest can be the adjunct to trading to bring substantial wealth.
5. Trust nobody. Don't trust relatives, tipsters, water cooler millionaires, that long time friend who has set up a financial advisory business. Don't trust money managers, ultra-groomed bankers in tailored suits, and advisers who pose with blonds/BMW's/private planes, advisers with "knighthoods' from the West Indies.
Television tipsters make huge amounts with no personal responsibility, follow them at your peril. The preceding from the dont trust lists includes crooks, fantasists, incompetents, and most are, at the very least, glorified commission agents and all have their own interests either superior to or at a minimum equal to yours (plus their management fees).
6. If you are offered interest or profits well above the norm, especially year in and year out without any periods of decline-just say no.
7. There are no "secret" bank operations which you can gain access to as an "insider" nor do you have a long lost cousin in Nigeria who wants to give you millions.
8. Gold pays no dividends. yes it is on an extended rise and sensible people with managed investments (point three) will have done well. But when (point 1) it collapses there will be reduced value and no dividends.
9. Hugely successful finance companies who achieve massive profits (and whose staff earn big bonus payments) are sooner or later convicted of insider trading and/or a destroyed by "rogue traders" who operate with either tacit knowledge of management greedy for profits/bonus or incompetent ditto.
10. Iron rules of (Galbraith's "long dead") economists turn out to be false. Governments can print money endlessly without inflation as has been clearly the case since 2008. If it doesn't circulate, and there is a massive pool of "spare capacity" i.e. unemployed people, then the old saw of "too much money chasing too few goods" doesn't apply. All the doom and gloom inflationists missed out of a massive stock market rally subsequent to the 2008 crash. On the other hand those who urge endless printing of money will see how difficult, or not, it is to get the genie back in the bottle when the economy recovers.
11. The aforementioned stock market rally will not continue forever. When the next black swan comes all those people who would have kept their money safe in banks but who had to invest in the sharemarket, because of Bernanke's low interest policy will see their wealth destroyed (unless they followed point three). Then there will be hell to pay, which won't recover lost savings sadly.
12. Investment capital can be divided into equal sums of five and placed in term deposits for 1,2,3,4,5 years with interest payable monthly and as each deposit matures it is renewed for five years, The average interest rate will be higher than a shorter single term and, if there is renewed inflation the depositor will always be one year or less away from a maturity, which can be put at the highest rate available for whatever term is best suited to the prevailing rising interest rate scenario.
The above is all about wealth maintenance and accumulation over time. Some, a lucky few, can do well by speculation but they are the minority. Greed, envy and listening to advertisers selling an impossible lifestyle are pitfalls to disaster. The former, allied to common-sense and self discipline leads to prosperity and a good nights sleep. All the above may seem simplistic but it is the simple who ignore it chasing the American nightmare.

Redux:Anti-Palin Feminists & Victorian Repressive Tensions In The Art Of Dorothea Tanning
The vitriolic hatred of Sarah Palin by the radical feminists, as exemplified especially by the Blog “Shakesville” shows, beyond doubt, the terrible dilemma and schizophrenic mindset the conundrum that is Sarah Palin has put such feminists into.
On the face of it, a woman of Palin’s achievements should be the cause for triumphalism amongst feminists. In every aspect of her life, her career achievements in a “patriarchal” world, her completely equal sharing role with her husband (a “real man” if that has any bearing on the matter), her capacity to be an author, outdoors person, activist and caring mother are an incredible advance on where women were as late as the mid 1960’s.
But no, Palin is under ceaseless attack for one reason only, her dedicated pro-life stance. Whatever feminism was before the rise of Palin, and of course its aim of equality of opportunity was laudable, it is now seen to be mono-focussed. Pro/anti life considerations are its defining motif above all else.
No matter what Palin has achieved, no matter what she may further achieve-even to the ultimate feminist triumph of becoming the first female president of the United States, she will never be acceptable to the feminist left.
This is the ultimate failure of feminism in its current aspect as a manifestation and tool of the Alinsky radical left. In this current guise its goal is to defeat Palin and prevent her from achieving the highest office in the land. This is because she is a woman whose life views they disagree with-at the cost of negating economic policies which will help all women.
This dichotomy in the collective mind of radical feminists is highlighted further by their failure to grasp that there are elements in society, and human nature, which transcend the blinkered notion of “patriarchy” and the liberal world view.
Their attitude to Palin’s life reinforcing/religious stance is mirrored by their non-comprehension of the Dionysian nature of humankind which finds its expression in women as well as in men. The surrealist paintings of Dorothea Tanning are an odd journey into a world which, if depicted by a man, would be the subject of much feminist attack as misogynist e.g. one of her seminal works Eine Klein Nachtmusik .
Tannings paintings bring the viewer into “an unsettling world” of what appears to be Victorian repressive neurosis.
The male created surrealism of e.g. Dali has a dreamlike, or similarly other worldly nature, but there is nothing of the overt, distorted nature of Tanning’s work. Even the title of her major work (pictured below) “The Truth about Comets and Little Girls" reinforces this unsettling innuendo "Her work explores the female psyche through the medium of dreams. Her paintings often combine a superficial childhood innocence with rather disturbing undertones and morbid symbolism"
Even Hieronymus Bosch, the predecessor of what we know as surrealism presents nothing of the nature of Tanning’s oeuvre. His work, even with his most gory depictions, have an element of being so over the top that they transcend being unsettling.
Feminists, Paglia perhaps excepted, have been so radicalized by years of extreme anti-patriarchal propaganda that they have inured themselves to viewing the broader brush of humanity. This humanity expresses itself in regarding men and women as having diverse, but equal natures, some aspects of which are not particularly attractive, but that in reality are held nonetheless.
Women can hold to a pro-life stance for which they shouldn’t be demonized by other women who “know better” and which demonization leads to, ultimately, the detriment of all women and society as a whole. The feminists, in their black and white view of the world are unable even to entertain a reasonable dialogue regarding an individual’s pro-life stance. By doing so, they expose themselves as lacking a truly humanistic and balanced view which accepts the diversity in women in the arts and in the body politic.

Thinking The Unthinkable;A New Populist Conservatism:Pt.1 David Brooks Patrician Prescription
David Brooks, as the conservative in residence intellectual at The New York Times (Jennifer Rubin serves the same function at the Washington Post of course) has an article up, grandly titled
"The Conservative Future" where he surveys the "new voices" of the post Romney conservatism.
He concludes, prescriptively as is the wont of the patrician, with a list of authors we should follow for our enlightenment in this new era of Republican "open mindedness. In his words:
"Since Nov. 6, the G.O.P. has experienced an epidemic of open-mindedness. The party may evolve quickly. If so, it’ll be powerfully influenced by people with names like Reihan, Ramesh, Yuval and Derek Khanna."
In the plethora of intellectual elitism on offer one gets the feeling that we are reading a Leninist "what is to be done" menu, and in the end the various formulas on offer are top down.
"Burkean Revivalists. This group includes young conservatives whose intellectual roots go back to the organic vision of society described best by Edmund Burke but who are still deeply enmeshed in current policy debates"
Yes that will resonate with Marx's (Groucho)"Barber of Peru" (Indiana)
That this is clear is readily discerned by the rejection of Reaganism and the attack on the base and there being not a single mention of the Tea party. The fact that the Tea party brought one of the biggest Republican landslides in 2010 whereas the establishment candidates in 2008/2012 lost two presidential elections in a row is also swept under the rug.
"By and large, these diverse writers did not grow up in the age of Reagan and are not trying to recapture it. They disdain what you might call Donor Base Republicanism. Most important, they matured intellectually within a far-reaching Web-based conversation. In contrast to many members of the conservative political-entertainment complex, they are data-driven, empirical and low-key in tone."
In part two, I look to address what I would ask, not prescribe, the grass roots, Tea Party Republican base to consider/dialogue, as the social and economic policy road to 2014 and 2016 is considered

Redux:Patriotic American Jewish Benefactor Made Bunker Hill Monument Possible
The Jewish contribution to American society is monumental. In fields of science, Dr.Salk/Einstein; in music Gershwin/Presley; in theatre Steven Berkoff; in movies-well there isn't enough space in twenty blog posts to even begin to list those of a Jewish heritage and faith who have made a significant contribution in so many fields. Baseball not so much, gridiron-I'll draw the veil.
Of course if I were to detail the contribution from Blacks/Irish/Polish etc etc, to the American heritage, there would also be an endless list. But I wanted to give a special tribute to an unsung Jewish hero who made such an important contribution to the landscape of Boston and to American culture, and to the memory of a great event in the founding of the America, the battle of Bunker Hill.
The building of the Bunker Hill Monument was a very ambitious undertaking in the times when it was reared, and the work lagged greatly. Nothing of such magnitude had ever before been attempted in the country. In our day, when government is exalted into a great paternal institution, the thing would be handled in a more simple fashion. The public treasury is expected to do everything.
The people now are accustomed to go to Congress and get an appropriation when the desire to satisfy their patriotism by erecting a monument, but in 1820 public opinion was not so advanced upon such lines. The people believed that they should commemorate the first great battle of the revolution by a popular subscription in which each one directly gave his part; and so they embarked upon raising what was then a great sum of money.
After twenty years of struggle the monument was till uncompleted and twenty thousand dollars more were needed. At last, Amos Lawrence, a leading merchant of Boston, offered to give ten thousand dollars if another would give an equal amount. The princely offer was received in cold silence in the financial section of the neighbourhoods such as Boston and New York, from which a favourable response might have been expected.
But there came a remittance of ten thousand dollars from a remote part of the country, from Judah Touro, a Jew, of New Orleans, and the completion of the monument was assured. The event was commemorated by a dinner in Faneuil Hall. Amid the eloquent speeches that were made, a toast was proposed in lines which recognized the generosity of the two patriots, but hardly recalls the literary glories of Boston’s golden age:
Amos and Judah, venerated names,
Patriarch and Prophet press their equal claims;
Like generous coursers running neck and neck,
Each aids the cause by giving it a check;
Christian and Jew, they carry out one plan-
For though of different faiths, each is in heart a man.
Touro was born in New England. He migrated to Louisiana where as a merchant, an importer and exporter, he made a great fortune. When the war of 1812 moved from the sea and from the North to the Southern field, he was in the thick of General Jackson’s fighting. In the battle of New Orleans he was almost mortally wounded. His philanthropies were country-wide.

Israel;Against All the Odds; The Republican Party Is The Godly Party
It was reported that a spokesperson from the President-Elect Donald Trump transition team stated (as regards moving the American embassy to Jerusalem)
The transition official told The Daily Mail the embassy move is “going to happen” and asserted Huckabee is ready to “see it through.”
Clearly the Republican party is the Godly party. yes, certainly it consists of fallible men and women as all people are, but it and they err on the side of God and Gods purpose and plan for Israel and humanity.
It is timely I believe to revisit this overview of the miracle that is Israel.
A moments honest reflection would, surely, convince even the greatest skeptic atheist that something beyond all odds and expected historical results must be an aspect of the creation and success, survival and prosperity of Israel and the in-gathering of the Jews after 2,000 years, an event unprecedented in history ******************************************
Op-Ed: Israel, Against All Odds Published:
This is a good day, one on which Israelis woke up to a surprise unity government, to remind ourselves of what a miracle it is to have a Jewish country.
Ted Belman The author is a retired attorney and the editor of Israpundit. In 2009 he made aliya and is now living in Jerusalem. ►More from this writer;
God must love us or how else do you explain how we Jews overcame seemingly insurmountable odds, time and time again for the last 100 plus years, in establishing and growing a Jewish state. Although the Jews repeated in their prayers for two thousand years after the Romans destroyed their Temple and sent them into exile, “Next year in Jerusalem”, there was no political movement to realize that prayer until Theodor Herzl was energized by the Dreyfus Affair, to publish, The Jewish State, in 1896.
At that time, Judea and Samaria was part of a province of the Ottoman Empire which was called Palestine and had been since the time of the Romans. Try as he might, Herzl could not get the Ottoman Sultan to agree to allow the Jews to set up their “Jewish state” in Palestine. So he turned to the British who were sympathetic but could only offer Uganda which the Jews rightly rejected. The Jews continued to knock on the Ottoman door with little hope. As a result, Zionism languished, but not for long. The First World War pitted Germany, Ottoman Empire and others against Britain, France and Russia. Although the great mass of Jews lived in the Pale of Settlement which was situated in eastern Poland, Ukraine, and western Russia, there was an established Jewish presence in Western Europe and in the United States.
The Jews were divided into ideological camps, namely, the assimilationists, the Communists, the socialists, the orthodox and the Zionists. For the most part, they were loyal to the country where they lived. So Jews fought Jews. How could they do otherwise. But the Zionists, consisting of the Jewish masses in the Pale and the elite in Great Britain, although not of one mind, began debating who was likely to win the war so that they might support that side and hopefully be rewarded with a state. If they chose wrong, the Jews in all countries would pay the price. Fortunately, they choose right. They offered to support Great Britain by doing their best to get America to ally with her and doing their best to get Russia not to withdraw from the war as she was considering doing.
They offered to fight on the side of Britain if she would form a Jewish Legion. All this they offered in exchange for a promise of a Jewish National Home as set out in the Balfour Declaration in 1917 and the right to have the Jewish Legion part of the British forces which would conquer Palestine. Germany and the Ottoman Empire were defeated in 1918. Then in 1919, when the WWI victors met in San Remo, they awarded the Jewish people the right to reconstitute their national home in Palestine.
Things were looking up for the Zionists, but they went quickly downhill from there. The British Military Administration in Palestine was anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic and did its utmost to frustrate the Declaration. It preferred to side with the Arabs and even incited them to violence. Many Jews were killed while the Administration turned a blind eye. Even Britain’s Home Office began regretting the declaration and attempted to whittle it down through interpretation contrary to its original promise. It kept delaying the ratification of the Mandate by the League of Nations, which was provided for in the San Remo resolution. Finally, it decided to remove Transjordan (East Bank) from the Mandate and to give it to the Hashemites.
It than forced the Zionists to accept this loss of 78% of the lands promised on pain of not getting the Mandate ratified by the League of Nations. The Zionists had no choice but to accept and the Mandate was signed in September 1922. One of the issues which drove the opposition was that the Arabs in Palestine, numbering 700,000, outnumbered the Jews by a ratio of 10:1 and to some it didn’t seem right to give the land to the Jews. But this was seen as a very temporary imbalance as Jewish immigration would soon put them in the majority.
With this opposition in mind, the Balfour Declaration favoured the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people as a whole. So the Zionists insisted, in any representative institutions to be established in Palestine, that the constituents must be the existing Arab community on the one hand and the Jewish people as a whole, numbering about 13 million, on the other hand. Nevertheless the British policy remained to frustrate the Mandate by restricting immigration of Jews - but not Arabs - and by allowing Arabs to be armed - but not Jews. The most egregious thing the British did was to prevent Jews from escaping the Holocaust by fleeing to Palestine. And this policy of barring entry by Jews continued after the end of the war as Jews were forced to remain in displaced persons camps rather than to be allowed to enter the promised land. Is it any wonder that the Jews in Palestine created an underground army to force Britain to leave. Against all odds, they were successful.
In 1947 Britain decided that she had had enough and introduced the Partition Plan to the General Assembly of the United Nations. This plan when passed in November 1947 was nothing more than a recommendation that the remaining 22% of Palestine should be divided between an Arab State and a Jewish State. Britain was to depart from the land six months later. Ben Gurion, the then leader of the Jews in Palestine, knew that declaring the state of Israel on the departure of the British, meant that Israel would be immediately invaded by the surrounding Arab countries. As it was, the Jews were outnumbered 2:1 in Palestine. His arsenal at the time consisted of 200 Bren guns, 1500 rifles and 400 machine guns. He had six months to prepare for war and he had no money to finance the acquisition of arms.
To make matters worse, the US placed an embargo on arms going into Palestine and the British military kept confiscating Jewish weapons and preventing Jewish immigration until they left. He sent Golda Meir to America to raise the money from the Jews and they responded generously. When the British left, they turned over to the Arabs their command posts and much equipment. Talk about impossible odds. In the lead up to the declaration, the State Department put enormous pressure on Ben-Gurion to postpone the declaration and warned him that the Arabs would attack and that the United States would not come to his aid. In fact the State Department, threatened to stoke anti-Semitism by publishing documents that would “do great harm to the Jews” as retribution for the establishment of an independent State of Israel, according to newly unearthed diplomatic cables. Chaim Weizmann warned, “It’s now or never” and the Jewish people agreed.
The state was declared and the war began. Every time Israel fought a defensive war against the Arabs, the State Department pressured Israel to retreat and to this day, that pressure continues. One month later the parties agreed to a truce. The Arabs were not doing as well as they expected and the Jews needed a rest and time for more arms and Jewish refugees to reach Israel. A month later the war commenced and Israel captured more land. When the Armistice Agreement of 1949 was being negotiated, the State Department put enormous pressure on Ben Gurion to retreat but he steadfastly refused. As a result of the influx of Jews following the Declaration of the State and the fleeing of Arabs as a result of the war, the Jews reached a majority of the population by the end of 1950 and Israel acquired more land.
The United Nations quickly passed Res 194 calling for the return of the refugees to Israel and the creation of UNRWA. The US by supporting this resolution was attempting to reverse Israeli gains. Thereafter, every time Israel fought a defensive war against the Arabs, the State Department pressured Israel to retreat and to this day, that pressure continues. At least that pressure is to the Armistice Lines of ’49 and not the Partition Lines of ’47; at least for now. Perhaps the State Department’s ultimate goal is to return to its original position of no Jewish State at all which is certainly the Arab position.
Despite all the wars, the efforts of all her enemies including the State Department and the United Nations, the deligitimating and demonizing campaigns began in earnest in Durban I, the flotillas and flytillas, the growing antisemitism, the European supported NGO’s in Israel seeking her destruction, the worldwide BDS movement, the terrorism of her citizens, the Iranian threat of annihilation, the Charters of Hamas and Fatah calling for her destruction and the threats and pressure by Pres Obama, Israel has grown and prospered.
Since Israel’s Declaration of Independence in 1948, her population has grown 10 fold, and her GDP, 100 fold, She enjoys the highest fertility rate in the western world and a stronger economy than either that of the US or any European country. Tourism is at record levels, unemployment at record lows and foreign currency held, at record highs.. As I say, against all odds.
The transition official told The Daily Mail the embassy move is “going to happen” and asserted Huckabee is ready to “see it through.”

Nadeem Walayat Sees 1.Invasion Gaza 2.Invasion Lebanon 3.Invasion Of Iran. 4. USA Involved 5.China's Takeover Of Japan Islands;I See Possibility Solomon's Temple Rebuilt
Nadeem Walayat a hugely influential financial commentator at the British Financial Analysis site The Market Oracle has turned his attention to the current Israel/Gaza crisis and produced, in his usual, inimitable manner an in-depth article.
Walayat posits what he sees as the furtherance of Israel's real aims, the destruction of Iran's atomic bomb capacity through the mechanism of the Gaza/Hamas crisis. Israel, he says, instigated the crisis and is escalating it deliberately using it as a pretext to remove the capacity of Hamas, and then Iran to counter a strike against Iran with a heavy missile attack against Israel. Israel does not have enough anti-missiles to block the estimated thousands that would be launched if the conflict spreads so they will, in his opinion,. take them out before invading the Iranian nuclear facilities.
He sees the USA involved in support of her ally, and the conflict spreading in other directions as China takes advanate of the situation to seize the disputed islands off Japan.
Walayat errs I think, in describing Israel as have instigated the crisis, as clearly Hamas did by firing rockets into Israel knowing full well that Israel will not countenance any such action. Knowing that it is hard to fathom why they commenced their rocket attack, but that is something we may never know. Perhaps Iran, though Hamas, wants to instigate an all out conflict? Walayat says Iran's government needs a diversion because of the bad inflationary situation-perhaps this is the diversion)
Here, below are Walayat's core conclusions, the whole article is AT THIS LINK and is highly recommended.
There is another scenario which he has not considered, and that is what happens if an Hamas (or Iranian) rocket destroys the Muslim shrine The Dome of the Rock? That Mosque is built on the site of Solomon's Temple, and if it is destroyed then the Israeli's may choose to commence the Biblically ordained restoration of their Temple. This is what is deemed as the final requirement, after the restoration of Israel and the in-gathering of the Jews. What is happening in Israel now may, on the surface seem to be man' actions, but it may well be the final playing out of God's purpose and plan-we shall see.
My article on this aspect "Hamas Rockets Hit Jerusalem For First Time; If Dome Of The Rock Is Destroyed It Is The Penultimate Step To The Second Coming" is AT THIS LINK. For sceptics, how much would anyone have bet in say, 1939 that within 9 years Israel would be re-established?

List Of Republican's (Update:Add Gingrich) Now Throwing Romney Under The Bus (So Far) Jindal/Christie/Martinez/Cruz/Pawlenty/Rubio
UPDATE:here's Newt Gingrich putting the boot into the still warm political body of Mitt Romney:
"Newt Gingrich took an opportunity to express mass displeasure at Mitt Romney’s explanation to campaign donors who said he lost because Obama gave gifts to voters."
AT THIS LINK
***********************************************************************
Here is the fullest list I can discover of Republican's who have thrown their recent leader under the bus. Ben Smith writing at Buzzfeed says the party can't get rid of him quickly (Why Republicans Want Mitt Romney To Go Away) enough but this lot I sure having a go.
It is interesting that the person Romney and his team shunned Sarah Palin, remained loyal to the GOP, under the most trying circumstances, and it is noticeable that she has not joined in the feeding frenzy.
Chris Christie of course threw Romney under the bus even before the votes were cast and he was Romney' keynote speaker at the Tampa convention Palin was not allowed to make a major address at.
As you sow so shall ye reap
As for the now condemners of al things Romeny-where were they when the campaign was on, and even more to the point when he was running in the primary campaign and was the same person then as now (and in fact as in 2008 when he was rejected for the presidential nomination and the VP slot)?
As for the Romney enablers like Coulter/Hume/Rubin/Rove et al they should join Romney as yesterday's persons as their credibility is zero.
Marco Rubio "gently rebuts Romney"
Susana Martinez "Romney Remark Set Us back"
Chris Christie "Unwraps Mitt Romney's Gift Claim"
Tim Pawlenty (who jumped the Romney ship mid-campaign) Mitt Romney's Gifts Didn't Elect Obama"
Bobby Jindal "I absolutely reject the notion (Romney's comments that "gifts" elected Obama )
Ted Cruz Mitt Romney "French Kissed Obama"
Here's various Republican governor's "in the hallways"

Hamas Rockets Hit Jerusalem For First Time;If Dome Of The Rock Is Destroyed It Is The Penultimate Step To The Second Coming
The Biblical research site 100prophecies sets out ten major Biblical prophecies pertaining to the re-establishment and rebuilding of Israel its prosperity, safety against enemies, and it becoming the world's most important religious site. It also shows the prophecy of Israel becoming "fruitful" in both the agricultural and spiritual manner-with Christianity being its most significant "fruit" which was established in Israel and exported across the entire globe.
Whether a believer or not, a person, no matter how much an atheist they might be, must surely give pause, if they are the slightest bit intellectually honest, and consider the unique historical facts. There is not one instance of any nation's peoples being completely ravaged by war, dispersed across the globe, subject to every possible persecution for millenniums and the herded into concentration camps by the millions where they were tortured and gassed to death.
And then, against impossible human odds, these same peoples saw the restoration of their country and, again, against impossible odds, saw that country defend itself in three major wars and at one point expand to the size of Davidic Israel.
Both Jews and Christians look to the coming of the Messiah. For the Jews, they look to this happening for the first time, for the Christians it will be the second and final time. One thing both agree on is that he will be a Jew "Salvation is of the Jew's" said Jesus.
The restoration of Israel, against all odds except God's plan is, after nearly two thousand years, the first sign of the return of the Messiah, the last judgement and God's reign. According to prophecy one further thing has to happen regarding Israel and that is set out in point six below:
In Micah 4:1, the prophet said that the Temple mount in Jerusalem would become the focal point of the world. This prophecy has not yet been fulfilled.
Here is Micah 4:1
The restoration of Solomon's Temple at the Temple mount, of which only the wailing wall remains, is at this time impossible. Why? Because the Muslim conquerors of Jerusalem, as is their usual practice when they conquer a territory and put their religious buildings over destroyed religious sites as a sign of supposed superiority, built a major mosque on the site "the Dome of the rock". For Israel to destroy that building to commence restoring Solomon's temple would cause the biggest of "holy wars" and would never be attempted.
How then can Micah's prophecy be implemented? The only way would be if the Muslim's themselves destroyed their own holy site in an act of war which they then could not blame the Jew's for. That this is now possible, when until modern times and weapons it was not (and of course was not possible before the re-establishment of the state if Israel) is proven by Hamas rockets hitting Jerusalem for the first time
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Palestinian militants took aim at Jerusalem for the first time Friday, launching a rocket attack on the holy city in a major escalation of hostilities as Israel pressed forward with a relentless campaign of airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.
The End Times has a prophetic analysis which it ties in with the historic events leading to the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem and the, up till now, impossibility of the Temple ever being rebuilt in its original location, and also states the challenge:
"This puts Israel’s future Temple at odds with the Islamic world. Islam would never accept the building of a Jewish Temple over this location. Orthodox Judaism, the ones in favor of building a Temple would not accept the “Dome of the Rock”."
And then sets out the possible scenario's for this challenge to be overcome and Biblical prophecy to continue on its seemingly impossible path to its fulfilment. The re-establishment of the Jews in Israel and it's restoration as a country was ridiculed and mocked but came to pass-we shall see what transpires in Jerusalem in our day.
*******************************************************************************************
Against all odd the restoration of Israel and the return of the Jews. Biblical prophecy fulfilled after thousand of years.
These 10 Bible prophecies were fulfilled after 1948, when Israel became an independent country for the second time in history. These prophecies foretold of modern Israel's stunning military victories and of its transition from a desert wasteland to a prosperous nation.
1. Israel will prevail over its enemies
Bible passage: Isaiah 41:12-14
Written: perhaps between 701-681 BC
Fulfilled: late 1900s
In Isaiah 41:12-14, the prophet said God would help Israel during times of conflict with enemies (if the people have faith in God). Isaiah said this during a time when the northern kingdom of Israel had already been conquered by the Assyrian Empire. And the southern kingdom, Judah, was about to be conquered by Babylon. (The Bible explains that Israel and Judah lost their independence because so many of the residents had turned to false religions). But, since 1948 when Israel was re-established, Israel has been attacked by much-larger countries. And Israel has prevailed in each of those attacks. This prophecy has found partial fulfillment; Christian scholars believe that a time will come when all of Israel's enemies are destroyed.
Here is Isaiah 41:12-14
Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, O worm Jacob, O little Israel, for I myself will help you," declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
2. The ruins of Israel would be rebuilt
Bible passage: Amos 9:11, 13
Written: about 750 BC
Fulfilled: late 1900s
In Amos 9:11, 13, the prophet said that God would restore the land of David. (King David ruled Israel from about 1010 BC to about 970 BC). The land of David - Israel - was conquered and destroyed by the Babylonians, Assyrians and Romans. The land has been in ruins for much of the past 2000 years. The Jews, who had been scattered throughout the world, began to return in large numbers during the past 100 years. Since then, they have been rebuilding many of Israel's ancient cities. Amos also said there would be continuous planting and harvesting. During the past 100 years, the Jews have been using advanced farming and irrigation techniques to turn barren land into productive farmland. Today, Israel is a source of food for many countries.
Here is Amos 9:11, 13
"In that day I will restore David's fallen tent. I will repair its broken places, restore its ruins, and build it as it used to be,'' … "The days are coming," declares the Lord, "when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman and the planter by the one treading grapes. New wine will drip from the mountains and flow from all the hills."
3. Ezekiel prophesied prosperity for modern-day Israel
Bible passage: Ezekiel 36:11
Written: between 593-571 BC
Fulfilled: late 1900s
In Ezekiel 36:11, the prophet said that there would come a time when Israel would be more prosperous than it was in the past. The Bible describes Israel as being a prosperous nation during the time of King David and King Solomon about 3000 years ago. But, Ezekiel knew a very different Israel. In Ezekiel's day (he lived about 2600 years ago), the northern kingdom of Israel already had been decimated by the Assyrians, and the southern kingdom (called Judah) was being destroyed by the Babylonians. In the centuries that followed these destructions, Jews rebuilt the city of Jerusalem, but their homeland was destroyed again, by the Romans, about 1900 years ago. Since then, a majority of Jews have lived in exile. But during the past 100 years, millions of Jews from around the world moved to Israel and they have been rebuilding the country once again. Today, Israel again is an independent nation, as it was in the days of King David, and it is one of the world's most prosperous countries. In 1999, Israel had the highest per capita Gross Domestic Product of any nearby country, even though the surrounding countries have many oil resources.
Here is Ezekiel 36:11
I will increase the number of men and animals upon you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
4
. Trees again would grow in Israel
Bible passage: Isaiah 41:18-20
Written: perhaps between 701-681 BC
Fulfilled: late 1900s
In Isaiah 41:18-20, the prophet's talk of a future restoration of Israel coincides with an occurrence in modern Israel - the construction of a vast irrigation system to improve farming. The lack of available water, including rain, is one reason why Israel had been a desolate, unproductive land during much of the past 2000 years. But, during the 1900s, when many Jews returned to their ancient homeland, they built a network of irrigation systems. And during the past century, more than 200 million trees have been planted in Israel.
Here is Isaiah 41:18-20
I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs. I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together, so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.
5. Isaiah said Israel's fruit would fill the world
Bible passage: Isaiah 27:6
Written: perhaps between 701-681 BC
Fulfilled: late 1900s
In Isaiah 27:6, the prophet said Israel would one day blossom and fill the world with fruit. This prophecy has been at least partially fulfilled, literally and symbolically. Today, the land of Israel, which had been barren for centuries, is a leading producer of agricultural products, exporting food to many countries. This prophecy also has been fulfilled symbolically with the worldwide spread of Christianity. Christianity, which began with Jesus in Israel, now has about 2 billion followers worldwide.
Here is Isaiah 27:6
In days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill all the world with fruit.
6. Jerusalem would become the world's most important religious site
Bible passage: Micah 4:1
Written: sometime between 750-686 BC
Fulfilled: Today
In Micah 4:1, the prophet said that the Temple mount in Jerusalem would become the focal point of the world. This prophecy has not yet been fulfilled. But, it is interesting to note that Jerusalem is, and has been for centuries, the world's most important religious site. Christians and Jews regard the city as the world's most important, and Christians and Jews comprise about one-third of the world's population. No other city in the world is a religious focal point to as many people.
Here is Micah 4:1
In the last days the mountain of the Lord's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.
7. Egypt would never again rule over other nations
Bible passage: Ezekiel 29:15
Written: between 593-571 BC
Fulfilled: 1967, etc.
In Ezekiel 29:15, the prophet says that Egypt would recover from a desolation (perhaps Babylon's attack about 2600 years ago), but that it would never again rule over other nations. Up until the time of Ezekiel, Egypt had been a world power for centuries, dominating many nations, including Israel. But for most of the past 2500 years, Egypt has been controlled by foreign powers, including the Romans, Ottomans and Europeans. Today, Egypt is an independent nation again. In 1948, 1967 and 1973, Egypt tried to dominate Israel but was unsuccessful each time, despite the fact that Egypt is 10 times larger than Israel. Since the time of Ezekiel, Egypt no longer rules over other nations.
Here is Ezekiel 29:15
It will be the lowliest of kingdoms and will never again exalt itself above the other nations. I will make it so weak that it will never again rule over the nations.
8. Zechariah prophesied the Jews return to Jerusalem
Bible passage: Zechariah 8:7-8
Written: between 520 and 518 BC
Fulfilled: 1967, etc.
In Zechariah 8:7-8, the prophet said God would bring the Jews back from the east and the west to their homeland (Israel) and that they would be able to live in the city of Jerusalem again. This prophecy has been fulfilled more than once. About 2600 years ago, Babylon destroyed Jerusalem and took many Jews as captives to Babylon. But many Jews later returned from Babylon. The Jews rebuilt Jerusalem but the city was destroyed about 1900 years ago by the Romans. The Romans killed more than 1 million Jews and forced many more into exile. The Jews did not have control of Jerusalem again until 1967 when the Jews recaptured the city during the Six Day War.
Here is Zechariah 8:7-8
This is what the Lord Almighty says: "I will save my people from the countries of the east and the west. I will bring them back to live in Jerusalem; they will be my people, and I will be faithful and righteous to them as their God."
9. Israel's deserts will become like the Garden of Eden
Bible passage: Isaiah 51:3
Written: perhaps between 701-681 BC
Fulfilled: Being fulfilled now
In Isaiah 51:3, the prophet said that God will restore Israel and make it a paradise, like the garden of Eden. This foreshadows what is currently happening in Israel. The Jews have been irrigating, cultivating and reconditioning the land during much of the 1900s. Many of the country's swamps, which had been infested with malaria, have been converted into farmland. And water from the Sea of Galilee has been channeled through portions of the deserts, allowing some of the deserts to bloom. Much work remains, but parts of Israel are blooming again. Although it was described as a wasteland as recently as the late 1800s, Israel is now a food source for many countries. And at least 200 million of trees have been planted there during the past century.
Here is Isaiah 51:3
The Lord will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins; he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.
10. Isaiah foretold of the worldwide return of Jews to Israel
Bible passage: Isaiah 43:5-6
Written: perhaps between 701-681 BC
Fulfilled: late 1900s
In Isaiah 43:5-6, the prophet Isaiah said that the Jews would return to their homeland from the east, the west, the north and the south. Isaiah lived about 2700 years ago. At that time, the Assyrians had forced many Jews in the northern kingdom of Israel into exile. Those Jews were taken to other areas in the Middle East. Then, about 1900 years ago, the Romans destroyed the city of Jerusalem and killed and exiled hundreds of thousands of Jews. Since then, the Jews have been scattered to virtually every country in the world. But, during the past century, millions of J
Jews have returned to Israel, from the east, the west, the north and the south.
From the east: Many Jews living in the Middle East moved to Israel by the early 1900s.
From the west: During mid-1900s, hundreds of thousands of Jews living in the West (Europe and the United States) began moving to Israel.
From the north: The former Soviet Union (Russia) is north of Israel. It refused to allow its Jewish residents to move to Israel. But, after years of pressure from other countries, Russia finally began to allow Jews to return to Israel during the 1980s. So far, hundreds of thousands of Russian Jews have moved to Israel.
From the south: Ethiopia, which is south of Israel, also refused to allow its Jews to return to Israel. But, in 1985, Israel struck a deal with Ethiopia's communist government to allow the Jews of Ethiopia to move to Israel. On the weekend of May 25, 1991, 14,500 Ethiopian Jews were airlifted to Israel.
Isaiah's prophecy was also correct in saying that the north (Russia) and the south (Ethiopia) would have to be persuaded to give up their Jews. Many countries pressured Russia for years before it began to allow its Jews to leave. And Ethiopia had to be paid a ransom to allow its Jews to leave.
Isaiah's prophecy was also correct in saying that the Jews would return "from the ends of the earth," and Isaiah said that many centuries before the Jews had been scattered to the ends of the earth. During the past 100 years, Jews living as far east as China, as far west as the West Coast of the United States, as far north as Scandinavia, and as far south as South Africa, have moved to Israel.
Here is Isaiah 43:5-6
"Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, `Give them up!' and to the south, `Do not hold them back.' Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth…
