No Country For Old ,Young, Middle Aged Men And Women

Cormac McCarthy "No Country For Old Men"

Exactly so.

America's "Golden Age" commenced in January 1953 with the inauguration of President Eisenhower. This brought eight years of growth, prosperity, domestic balance and the defense of those values against communism at home and abroad.

The golden age ended in November 1963 with the assassination of president Kennedy.

The two men, Eisenhower elderly and avuncular, Kennedy youthful, vigorous and with a beautiful wife were perfectly cast for their times and reflected the spectrum of the American Age.

Of course things were not perfect but the stirrings of the civil rights movement were supported by both presidents, were addressed positively by both men within the ethos of the times, but courageously and directly. Women were disadvantaged certainly but the feminist movement was commencing with reasoned argument.

On the other hand the perceived values of women as homemaker, mother and support for the single income earner was hugely valued, and in itself represented a major part of the balance and security of mainstream America.

The descent of America to where it is today, with race relations in a terrible place, with cities in disrepair, with an economy stuck in slow growth combined with trillions in the public debt began after Lyndon Johnson's landslide election in 1964. Nixon and Watergate brought the shame of a president and vice-president's resignations and further debunking of authority.

The immoral Vietnam war unleashed a torrent of violence, the repudiation of classic values of civility and disdain for authority. The deficit spending to finance the war unbalanced the economy, drug "culture" commenced as a norm and Hollywood was empowered to glorify every perversion of normal sexuality as the proper end for liberal society.

Certainly the first term of Ronald Reagan restored a degree of a return to stability but the Iran Contra affair stained his legacy and President Clinton debauchery brought the presidency to a low deemed impossible in previous generations.

Donald Trump because of the fact he is not beholden to any group or faction, offers the chance for a return not only to prosperity, and of course jobs are the best solution to crime and displacement caused by unemployment, but to a society where authority, and especially the police and armed forces personnel are valued, respected, an honored.

To expect such an outcome from Bill Clinton's wife, whose "values" and honesty are debatable to say the least is foolish.

America is at a crossroads, perhaps the last one, and if the wrong turning is taken the future of the country as a cohesive, peaceful society is dubious.

Twitter, Google, Blogs, MSM-Goodbye To All That

Today I closed my Twitter, Google and FaceBook "alerts" Hot Air and C4P accounts.

The terrible, shocking events in Dallas, Nice, New Orleans,Turkey, Bangladesh, Pakistan and elsewhere weighed heavily on me but, by themselves they were little different to what the world has experienced many times. Although these events being so close together amplified the injustices, hate and madness that humanity is sadly prone to.

They by themselves were not enough to have me close my various accounts but reading the endless rants in the various sites pubic comments sections were.

There is no personal attack so vile, so foul mouthed so based on lies and deliberate distortions that won't be Tweeted and blogged and stated. I found myself answering these vile creatures, which is of course utterly silly as it has absolutely no effect as facts are meaningless to them.

What that does of course is not only to drag one into the dark and sad world of haters, but brings out the worst in oneself. I am unable to be involved in an atmosphere of childishness, pettiness, point scoring, immaturity and indeed madness. It is ridiculous to entertain the thoughts of such persons and the negativity they create and one absorbs, my only regret is that I involved myself in that world for so long.

There are of course some excellent Bloggers, Jim Hoft, RS McCain and Smitty at The Other McCain, Iz and Steve at C4P for example, and I will miss reading their thoughts and occasionally interacting. But their boats sail in a miasma and I don't have the strength of character they have to keep their sails afloat as they circumnavigate the sewer that is the blogsphere generally.

Lets be clear, the media is basically the partisan press and the columnists are mouthpieces for the media owners. There is no point for a conservative to read anything that comes out of e.g the NY and and L.A. Times or Washington Post. The better path is to totally ignore such organs of leftism.

The page views for this site will of course decline but for those who appreciate a conservative, Christian and hopefully ethical/factual point of view their continued visiting is of course appreciated as is that of any lost soul who stumbles upon this site.

Regards to all of good will.

Ever Gracious; Gov. Palin Congratulates Pence & Calls For Unity

Former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin offered her congratulations to Indiana governor Mike Pence on being chosen as Donald Trump’s running mate.

Palin posted the following to her Facebook page:

CONGRATULATIONS PENCE FAMILY; Illegitimi non carborundum
In this clash of civilizations, the courageous, unrelenting fight for America’s future is beyond paramount. If eyes are not open to this after the latest Islamic attack, then one may be hopelessly lost in the fake utopian world into which the Left sucks the gullible.
Congratulations to Gov. Mike Pence on being chosen to run for Vice President. Pence is an accomplished Indiana politician with decades of politics under his belt. He is a devoted family man, and he is a gentleman. He will serve well as Trump’s partner; Trump’s second in command.
Commonsense, independent patriots must now be wholly united and involved in this election process. Recognizing the nation’s enemies hellbent on decimating us militarily and economically, it’s wise to insist gentlemanly politics to take a back seat to the fighting Warrior spirit that must drive all our leaders in this upcoming epic battle for America’s security, solvency and sovereignty. A GOP team is now set to win that battle through strengthening our military, our Supreme Court, our balance sheet, and our common resolve to finally put America first.
Congratulations to the Pence family: stand your ground and fight alongside your dad through the coming months and years of scrutiny. Illegitimi non carborundum.

After Nice; 2004 Election Again Trump/Hillary/ISIS Replaces Bush/Kerry/Bin Laden

Roger L. Simon  at P J Media sets it out clearly;

"Will Trump Win in a Blowout?"
This is going to be a national security election. I started writing this article before the horrifying news started coming in from Nice, but even then the situation couldn't have been more obvious.

 As anyone paying the slightest attention knows, Islamic fundamentalism is at war with Western Civilization. It's not just ISIS, but unfortunately many continually metastasizing organizations based on the same ideology. (Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula recommended using a truck as was employed in the Nice attack in its magazine Inspire in an article entitled "The Ultimate Mowing Machine.")Barack Obama's response to our civilizational enemy has been a disaster.

Because of the president's deep neurotic ambivalence about his own Muslim background, he is incapable of confronting, let alone naming, the evil of jihadism. In reality, he made the problem worse and encouraged the rise of ISIS through the abandonment of Iraq."

And further;

"Could it happen here? Of course. Was Barack Obama right to allow so many Syrian and Middle Eastern refugees to come to the United States virtually unvetted? Is Hillary Clinton right to actually increase that number by some huge amount? Are these two leaders crazy - or sadistic?"

 The 2016 presidential election has turned, too date, basically on the character of Donald Trump. Although poll after poll shows that Hillary Clinton is hugely disliked and distrusted and there is nothing she can do about that fact the voters have not made their minds up on Trump's character.

Clinton is dropping markedly in the polls after the multitudinous reinforcements of her negative aspects. The Bill Clinton/Lynch tarmac meeting, the ruling on her server/emails further reinforced her negativity to the point that she has now passed Trump in "unlikeability" in key states like Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida.

Trump on the other hand has stayed basically static, (although the gap is closing) until now, as the latest state and head to head polls are starting to show an uptick in support for him especially in the key industrial states. This is to be expected as there is always a lag between events and their effects in the polling.

The clever and prescient Scott Adams (of "Dilbert" fame) ascribes, colorfully, the reason for Trump's rise to Trump's post Dallas "Cop Killers Versus Racists" meme change which of course has validity in its exploration of the public perception of who is correct in the public mind after Dallas.

Adams concludes (after earlier noting the more "presidential" Trump")

"I still think Trump needs to come out clearly and unambiguously against racial politics. And I expect that to happen. But the police shootings in Dallas probably changed the Clinton brand enough that Trump can glide into the presidency as things stand now, unless there are new developments.
But stay tuned because there are always new developments."
And, yet again, Adams is perfectly correct and the "new developments" came swiftly in Nice France.

The 2004 Bush versus Kerry  election (the latter is still a major player in some way in the 2016 scenario, even as a ghostly echo) turned on national security.
That Bush was competitive after the "stolen" election of 2000 when Al Gore won the popular vote handily was kept in check of course by the aftermath of 9/11. Bush's handling of that (pre-the Iraq invasion) and the Homeland Security success kept Bush competitive.
It can be fairly said that Bin laden's intervention in the campaign with his video threats ensured that, in the final analysis, national security was the paramount issue that gave Bush the narrowest of wins percentage wise of any re-elected president.

"Kerry blames defeat on Bin Laden"
Although Bush won the popular vote handily he won Ohio, and the electoral college majority by a football stadium crowd size majority and won Iowa/Colorado/New Mexico, all states that went subsequently for Obama, by wide margins.
If Roger Simon is correct, as I have little doubt that he is, the 2016 election will also, in the end no matter the twists and turns between now and November, also come down to "who is best to answer the 3 a.m. call."
Trump's likeabilty, which will improve over time, is not the deciding factor although his honesty, which polls shows is rated higher than Hillary's may have some input, but rather "who has the strength to keep my family safe in this dangerous world."
President Obama and Former Secretary Clinton have tried and failed. Nice, and the previous international terror examples, plus Ft.Hood, Boston, San Bernardino and Orlando stand as proof.
By themselves they give weight to Roger Simon's considerations and should ensure Trump's election. If, heaven forbid, any further major terror attack in Europe of the USA happens between now and November it will be a "Bin Laden moment" and the question mark in Simon's "Blowout?" will be removed.

Note further;
The Beslan Massacre: Then as American school children were returning to school, the horror of the Beslan (Russia) hostage crisis on September 1, 2004, unfolded before our eyes with 24x7 media reportage.  There is probably nothing more frightening than the slaughter of innocents to catalyze action:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bes...

American voters went to the polls with an extra measure of fear and caution in their collective memories.  Did they want Beslan-type school slaughters on American soil?  I posit that these two key events created an appetite within the general populace for a decisive president that had placed homeland security as Job 1 since 9-11.  Lucky or not - before either of these events occurred, the Republicans had tagged John Kerry with the flip-flop image with varying degrees of success.

If Demographics Makes The Presidency Unattainable For Any GOP Candidate-What Then?

California the heartland of liberalism, and its demographics give 55 Electoral College votes to the Democratic party candidate for president to start their campaigns with.

This is 15 more votes to the 9 mid-west "safe" Republican states or 16 more than 7 safe deep south GOP states. Add the 161 other safe Democratic states in New England, upper Midwest and the Pacific Northwest and Dem's start with 216 of the required 270 Electoral College votes.

California, where the Democratic Party holds all elective offices statewide and control both chambers of the legislature will not be competitive for the GOP on the state legislature, governorship and senatorial level, much less the congressional (currently 39 Dem's to 14 GOP) and presidential level for generations.

The substantial Hispanic (33%-71% Dem) and (7%) Black (7%-93 Dem) populations will give Democrats an unshakable hold on the state until a substantial middle class evolves among those demographics.

It's quite simple, If Donald Trump loses to Hillary Clinton in November the Republican Party as constituted will never capture the presidency ever again. No Republican of any stripe, a conservative, in his day, McCain (or Cruz if you prefer) centrist Romney, populist Trump could or can ever win the state.

If it holds together, which would be by no means certain, it or it's successors will, from time to time, control either of both houses of Congress and a majority of Governorships and other elected offices.

If Hillary wins then the current GOP will be in a worse position that the Democratic Party was from 1860 to 1932 when it had only two presidents elected in 72 years. This was partly because of reconstruction, when a number of states did not participate, and also because of internal divisions and general economic prosperity.

If Trump loses and Hillary enacts the immigration program as described by "NeverTrumper" renegade (Palin describes such as "traitors") Noah C Rothman in a 'Commentary' article, then it will be impossible for a Republican to be elected president via the Electoral College;

The simple fact is, because of the head start California gives to the Democratic candidate, that no Republican nominee can win in the Electoral College without Florida's 29 votes. A quick analysis of the map at 270toWin where viewers can assign states to the candidates
shows that even if Trump won Ohio/Pennsylvania/Colorado Hillary would only need Nevada or Virginia. The New York Times Nate Cohn sets this out in some detail.

However, even if by some magic Trump managed to squeak out a win without Florida this would only delay things by one election. With so many illegals enrolled to vote and with a good ground game the Texas Democratic Party would commence to turn that state purple then red. With the loss of 55 California, 38 Texas, and 29 Florida electoral votes the presidential campaigns, such as they would be, would be over before they started.

It is a strong possibility that if a Trump defeat was assisted by the machinations and negativity of the "NeverTrump" spoilers, then the Hillary enabled demographic changes would just be an adjunct to the end of a Republican presidency as the party could well split after November.

If the "NeverTrump" faction believe that by helping to defeat Trump they, the Jeb/Graham/Romney/Ryan/Cruz-ite dead-enders/Kristol/Levin/Deace/ et al think they will inherit a GOP like the 2012 grouping they are utterly mistaken. It is, frankly, impossible to conceive that the Trump/Palin supporters would even contemplate aligning themselves to such a concept.

The only check on a rampant leftist presidency stretching into the future would be, as happened from 1860 to 1932 an occasional opposition controlled Congress (even if that were, for convenience sake, a coalition of former Republicans). The Supreme Court, subsequently a permanent leftist structure, would

make America an unrecognizable social polity.

For Trump supporters, for "NeverTrump" diehards for the disengaged Cruz and other ex-candidates supporters the choice is absolutely clear and stark. Vote for Trump and give whatever GOP faction you support a voice in future presidencies and the Supreme Court or enable a Hillary presidency and the end of the Republican Party holding the presidency ever again.

If the Republican establishment allied to the "Never Trump" recalcitrant ultra-conservatives make a Trump loss worse than it might have been a break-up of the GOP
may well ensue further consolidating a Dem hold on the presidency for the foreseeable future,
