"Red Wave"? California And Now Virginia Canaries In The Coal Mines?

Two swallows do not a summer make but California's two GOP wins, a solid Wisconsin hold and now a huge swing in a local Virginia election.

If further such swings happen in the few elections between now and say September the omens will become clearer. The Massachusetts GOP was reduced to 2 seats having lost 50% of their 4 in local elections last week but, perhaps that state can be considered as a GOP graveyard and is not representative.

"Following the 2019 Virginia election in which Democrats took control of the state senate and the House of Delegates, liberal policy pushes by local lawmakers and Governor Northam have soured residents of the state on many Democrats."
As stunning as Garcia's resounding victory for Republicans in California was, however, a shocking GOP blowout in the Staunton, Virginia city council election this week has given Democrats a reason to be alarmed.
Like many cities in Virginia through the last several years, Staunton has trended toward liberal candidates in national and municipal elections, supporting Barack Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 elections, and Hillary Clinton in 2016. The city also helped buoy Democratic governors Terry McAuliffe and Ralph Northam to victory in the past two gubernatorial elections while consistently electing a majority of Democrats to the city council.
Following the 2019 'Blue Wave' in Virginia legislature elections, however, residents of Staunton, which is supported in large part by private liberal arts college Mary Baldwin, came out in droves to support Republicans this week. Three Democratic council members lost to their Republican challengers in an unprecedented sweep by the GOP with a voter turn out that smashed previous election cycles.
More than 17,000 votes were cast in the in the election in which all four council members were vying to protect their seats. The last Staunton election for all four members was in 2016 in which fewer than 7,000 votes were cast. One Virginia political analyst, Chris Graham, of the Augusta Free Press described the results as "stunning almost beyond words."
Noting the eye-popping voter turnout, Graham credited Democrats for getting more votes than they did in the last cycle. However, Republican voters left no chance for defeat, with a turnout "more akin to, not quite a presidential year, but approaching gubernatorial their rivals at polls," according to Graham.
Following the 2019 Virginia election in which Democrats took control of the state senate and the House of Delegates, liberal policy pushes by local lawmakers and Governor Northam have soured residents of the state on many Democrats. Anti-gun legislation signed by Northam earlier this year drew massive protests in the state capital of Richmond and have drawn a line in the sand between residents and progressive lawmakers.
Northam also angered Virginians at the onset of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic in the state, becoming one of the first Democratic governors to enact strict lockdown orders and called for a shutdown into mid-June just weeks into the crisis. He has since eased on his stringent orders for the state, but as he keeps the most populous counties in the northern part of the state on continued restriction and continues with a very slowly phased reopening plan everyone else, criticism against him remains at a fever pitch.
Election analysts and representatives of the August County Republican Committee agree that the unpopular gun legislation and Northam's response to COVID-19 factored into the GOP shellacking in Staunton this week.
"I’m rarely shocked by something that happens in politics, but I have to admit, I didn’t see this one happening," Graham said in a post-election analysis.

"This turning point for the city shows that the citizens want a change in their government," Austin Armentrout of the ACRC told Townhall. "Many people are getting involved in politics and making their voices heard around our country, and it is resulting in Republican victories. The Staunton City Council Election was one of many in the Commonwealth of Virginia that show a growing momentum for Republican candidates that will carry through into November when President Donald Trump and Congressman Ben Cline [R-VA 06] are re-elected."
With Republican victories in California and Virginia already on the books for 2020, Democratic Party operatives will be forced to look at how to reach voters clearly frustrated with state lockdowns that are almost entirely perpetuated by Democratic governors. Likewise, Democratic congressional candidates and incumbents must stand behind their actions during the last two years in which they pushed an unfounded impeachment of the president and blocked attempts to help Americans during the pandemic.
The trouncing in Staunton, a city that has supported almost every Democrat for more than 15 years, is a bellwether that Democrats across the country would be foolish to ignore.

You Gov Trump vs Biden Blacks Vote Intention; Disaster For Biden

YouGov May 22nd (prior to Biden's "you ain't Black if you vote for Trump gaffe) in a D+7 Registered Voters poll
Democrat 33% Republican 26% Independent 29% Other 3% Not sure 9%

Trump versus Biden;

Blacks;
Biden 74%
Trump 18%
Third party 3%
Undecided 5%
Don't Know 2%

This, if it actually represents Black preference in November would be an utter disaster for Biden and the Dems. Trump received 8% of the 2016 black vote Hillary 88%  which, along with Kerry, was the lowest for a Dem in a two party contest since 1988.

With 8% plus stay at homes in 2016 Trump won Michigan and Pennsylvania even though the Black turnout in Philadelphia was at near Obama levels. At 18%, or anywhere near that figure, Trump would, at least, repeat his 306 Electoral College victory and win those states by even bigger popular vote margins

In the same poll Hispanics were 36% Trump compared to his 29% in 2016.

In the head to head poll Biden leads 46% to 42%  with 6% undecided 4% Third party 2% Would Not Vote. As usual it is Trump's support, or lack of it with women which is bringing his overall numbers down Trump 37% Biden 49% a 12 point margin which has been reflected in numerous polling.

Of the 10% up for grabs Trump only needs 4% to equal his 2016 popular vote tally. If the Black support is anywhere near what this polls says it would be more than enough given the Dems "wasted vote" in California and New York.

I said it once, and I will say it again, Joe has got to go.

We all know what Joe Biden said, and we know what he said in context, but it does not matter.  What matters is that no one believes him, and here is why.

After Joe Biden was called out, he doubled down with a flat out lie… that he was endorsed by the NAACP.  The NAACP has a long-standing history since Lyndon Johnson for siding with the Democrat Party.  As a member of the NAACP, receiving weekly emails and updates from my local chapter and Mr. Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of NAACP, I can assure you, the NAACP is entirely partisan and supports the Democrat Party.

With that said, it comes with great chagrin for the Democrat Party, that Breitbart would post “Front Page” NAACP’s statement that they NEVER endorsed Joe Biden:NAACP RESPONDS TO JOE BIDEN COMMENTS: WE NEVER ENDORSED HIM, OR ANYONE.

In response, Derrick Johnson, president and CEO of the NAACP, issued a statement:
Yesterday [sic], former Vice President Joe Biden made a comment about the NAACP’s endorsement. We want to clarify that the NAACP is a non-partisan organization and does not endorse candidates for political office at any level. Persons affiliated with the NAACP at the national, state, and local levels are free to make candidate endorsements in a personal capacity, but they do not reflect support by the NAACP as an organization. The NAACP has one mission and that is fighting for and advancing our Black communities towards an equitable reality. Our primary focus at this moment is to ensure that our communities that have been victims of domestic terrorism and disproportionately impacted by this pandemic have the opportunity to cast their powerful vote come November.
In other words…  the NAACP confirms what Joe Biden’s critics are saying, that the Democrat Party is taking advantage of “American Colored” people and expect them to vote strictly by party line.

Here is what the opposition has to say. Black Voices for Trump released a statement, and I concur: "White liberal elitists have continuously dictated which black Americans are allowed to come to the table and have a voice. It is clear now more than ever, following these racist and dehumanizing remarks, that Joe Biden believes black men and women are incapable of being independent or free-thinking."

As for me, yours truly, I fought racism, sexism, and all stereotypes all my life, and have been on numerous occasions on the receiving end of “reverse discrimination.”   I find it absolutely repugnant that the Democrat Party, for the past several decades, is most vocal against such un-American values, but are in fact responsible for creating laws based on polarizing peoples, and dehumanizing the individual based on gender, race, wealth, and all other stereotypes.

I don't believe you are a racist, sexist or a bigot for voting Democrat. But I do believe that not enough is being done to vet the most vocal leaders within that party.
In 2016, Susan Sarandon said "I don't vote with my vagina" in response to former Secretary of State, Madeleine Albright when she introduced Hillary Clinton at an event in New Hampshire, telling the crowd and voters in general: “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other!”  Ms. Albright’s remark had a devastating impact on the Clinton campaign, and changes were immediately made to shore the damage that such bad publicity caused.

I know I am not alone among Democrats who find racism, sexism, and such un-American bigotry repugnant, and within those ranks are very vocal people against Pres. Trump and the Republican Party because of the things they said.  However, those voices lose credibility when they do not call out their own when they make equally repugnant remarks.

I'm waiting for very left of center, Democrat voters to say something similar to what Susan Sarandon said which would be similar to "I don't vote with my skin."  I am calling on Americans to do what is right, and rebuke Joe Biden.  If we cannot do that, then how will the Democrat Party expect to win 2024?
Come on people, this is 2020.  Why are we still having this kind of language by our Democrat Party leaders?  Mr. Joe Bidens has a history of making racist and sexist comments and is even embroiled in sexual assault allegations.  Is Mr. Joe Biden the best the Democrat Party has and is the honest face of the party.  Enough is enough already.    Joe has got to go!  He cannot win against Pres. Trump, so must the Democrat Party also lose dignity and respect in the process?

Fortunately, there is at least one Democrat who spoke up.  Georgia State Representative, Vernon Jones (D) said,  “you’re not entitled to black support.”  I applaud  Mr. Vernon Jones for saying what needs to be said.

NAACP Responds to Joe Biden Comments: We Never Endorsed Him, Or Anyone

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) responded Friday evening to comments earlier in the day by former Vice President Joe Biden, who claimed — falsely — that the NAACP had endorsed him.
In an interview with host Charlemagne tha God on The Breakfast Club with New York’s Power 105.1 FM, Biden said: “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.” He went on to defend his record on issues relevant to the black community, claiming: “The NAACP has endorsed me every time I’ve run.”
Biden owes his candidacy to the African American vote, which he won by a wide margin in the South Carolina primary on Feb. 29.
The NAACP, more than a century old, is the country’s most prominent civil rights organization.

Black Blog The Root Most Despairing Spin of Biden's "You Ain't Black"

We Need to Talk About Joe Biden’s The Breakfast Club Interview

This year’s election is going to be tough and it shouldn’t be, but now I’m fully accepting that America is either voting for a Russian-loving, sun-beaten orange Skittle or a soggy white sock with a black stripe and a Southern old white man blaccent.
Let me start this by saying I’m voting for Joe Biden. Full stop.
Let me also add that you should vote for Joe Biden.
Let me also add that if a hat were found in the woods and that hat was running against President Trump, I would have a sign outside my house that read: “Homeless Hat in 2020!”
See, my biggest problem with Joe Biden is well, Joe Biden. He’s the old white guy at the job who always wants to talk with you about basketball or hip-hop to prove that he’s not like the other white guys who mistake you for the valet. The problem is that all of his conversations about Jay-Z and whether Bradley Beal is getting traded are supposed to make him endearing, but he can’t even do that right.
Maybe it’s because Biden still believes in democracy. He still believes he’s fighting a fair fight. Biden still believes that he can rally up the votes to beatPresident Bane in an election he’s trying to steal! Currently, the president of people who enjoy videotaping themselves being thrown out of stores for not wearing masks, is rallying his base to believe that mail-in voting is akin to voter fraud.
And Joe Biden is supposed to save all of Gotham, except Joe Biden isn’t Batman; he’s more like an overly aggressive Alfred.
This could all be so easy. All Biden has to do is announce that his running mate is a black woman and then get out of her way. We know who Joe is and nothing he’s doing is making it better; in fact, he’s only making things worse.
On Friday, Biden made a virtual appearance on The Breakfast Club in which he was interviewed by Charlamagne Tha God, and it might’ve been the most cringe-inducing shit I’ve seen in some time.

“Man!”

First, he keeps calling Charlamagne, “man.”
“I’m following the rules, man.”
“Totally different, man.”
This is Biden’s version of a blaccent. This is the thing he’s doing to make himself cool and hip to the young black community. Imagine a white guy calling you his main man; that’s the way Biden says it. Except, he doesn’t realize he’s playing himself and the community he’s supposed to be reaching out to. Biden isn’t alone in this.
This is a thing that out-of-touch white politicians do all the time. I call it theLove Don’t Co$t a Thing move. It goes like this: Can’t Buy Me Love is a teen romantic comedy that premiered in 1987. It’s an underrated classic that centers around a geeky kid using his savings to pay a cheerleader to help him be cool. When Hollywood wanted to re-create the success of Can’t Buy Me Love, they went and grabbed a young Nick Cannon to star in a remake called Love Don’t Co$t a Thing. Two things are wrong with this idea: The first is that black audiences didn’t like the original movie. The second is that in order to get black audiences to come out, the studio had to hip-hop the title up a bit with that dollar sign for an “s.” What the studio didn’t realize and what Biden doesn’t realize is doing that is degrading and shows just how out of touch they are with the community they’re trying to reach.
You don’t endear yourself to black people by trying to talk the way you believe they do. You endear yourself to black people—hell, all people—by being genuine. Imagine if Obama went on Ryan Seacrest’s show and started calling him “dude” after every sentence.
“See how fucking stupid that sounds, dude?

What the fuck is Biden even talking about?

When talking about something—hell, even I forget now because Biden went off on a goddamn tangent—he noted that Trump is like a carnival act who’s running a con. He claimed that the work is to figure out that you’re being conned and then there is no illusion.
“Let me tell you something, my community figured it out a while ago,” Biden said.
I don’t know who Biden’s community is. Is he talking about the community of old, white rich men? Is he talking about Democrats? Is he talking about his neighbors in Scranton, Pa.? Who is this community he speaks of?
In the same rambling sequence, Biden noted that had Trump listened to him and others and responded sooner to the COVID -19 warnings, there wouldn’t have been 36,000 people “Dead. Dead. Dead. And you guys are wondering what he’s doing? Come on, man. Get a life. Get a life.”
Umm, huh? Again, who are “you guys”? Seriously, who are the “you guys that are wondering what he’s doing”? Is anyone wondering what Trump is doing? I’m wondering WTF Joe Biden is doing.

Biden has a manifesto for black America.

I don’t know how I feel about a white man and a manifesto, but Biden has one and it sounds promising, I guess. Biden mentioned said manifesto after Charlamagne pressed him on his reluctance to admit to his role in locking black folks up. Biden started rambling but nothing he said sounded like, “I’m sorry.”
The New York Times did a whole piece on how Biden’s been trying to downplay his role in the mass incarceration of black and brown people. Biden’s history of working with segregationists on major crime bills is extensive, but no matter what he says now, just remember that this was his boast on the Senate floor:
“The truth is, every major crime bill since 1976 that’s come out of this Congress, every minor crime bill, has had the name of the Democratic senator from the State of Delaware: Joe Biden.”

So what about Amy “I once ate a salad with a comb” Klobuchar being vetted for VP?

“I’m not acknowledging anybody who is being considered, but I guarantee you, there are multiple black women being considered. Multiple,” Biden said,Politico reports.

The Pièce de Résistance

“Listen, you’ve got to come see us when you come to New York, VP Biden,” Charlamagne said. “It’s a long way until November. We’ve got more questions.”
“You’ve got more questions?” Biden replied. “Well, I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”
I can’t with this nigga. I can’t. I mean the more I try, the more he just does this. He even made Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham stand up for black people.

It might be time for Symone Sanders to take Biden behind the bleachers and fuck him up.
Still, I say: Vote soggy sweat sock in 2020. That’s about the best I can do.
