Radical Left Finds Being In the Driving Seat Makes them Unexpectedly Car Sick

I wrote the following yesterday as part of  an essay about the 2008 election and the (most enjoyable-karma based) spectacle of the radical left flailing about in a maelstrom of uncertainty and confusion as the "Rainbow President" drops further down the polling gurgler.

"However the progressive support, of no matter what age but especially the younger progressives saw, through rose colored glasses, only a rainbow future. For those under 22 years of age they would have basically only known the Bush years as they became politically aware and would have been filled with most of eight years of on-line blog and main stream media hate."

It reminded me of the old (actually going back to the Gladstone/Disraeli election contests) commentary regarding the party in opposition criticizing the administration they were trying to supplant.

"The man on the stagecoach sitting next to the driver can give all sorts of expert instruction as to how to hold the reins, how to take the oncoming curves and etc and be absolutely correct in all his commands and instructions. However, no matter how confident and capable, when the two men switch seats the former instructor, now having actual responsibility, is all of a sudden capable of making the most horrendous errors and overturning the stagecoach"

True words in the 1800's and an object lesson for the radical leftists who have been oh so smug and righteous throughout the Bush years-no wonder they are all at sea! They should look forward to the upcoming drubbing in November as it will put them in, at least in one if not two, governing areas back where they feel most comfortable-carping and complaining in opposition.

Obama's Candidacy Unleashed Forces Now Splitting Dem's Apart & Paving Path For Palin

In various analysis of the 2008 results it is often commented on regarding the large number of new voters who turned out for Obama. Also highlighted is the substantial involvement on his behalf by what is termed the "progressive left" especially young people.

Curiously these same forces were to have been the propelling force for George McGovern to gain the White House but who didn't turn out on election day-in fact the youth vote split evenly between Nixon and McGovern. This is especially curious as McGovern was clearly seen as being far more radical leftist than Obama was generally viewed.

Older hands would have had the life experience to know that the hopes and expectations piled onto Obama, or rather the Obama image, were fanciful. When the hard facts of economic and political reality appeared he would be unable to create the expected Nirvana and compromise would be the (natural) order of the day.

However the progressive support, of no matter what age but especially the younger progressives saw, through rose colored glasses, only a rainbow future. For those under 22 years of age they would have basically only known the Bush years as they became politically aware and would have been filled with most of eight years of on-line blog and main stream media hate.

Their activism in the blogosphere and the various State caucuses would play a significant role in promoting Obama, enabling him to pile us small State after Small State caucus victories, and to eventually destroy Hillary Clinton.

It has to be said that incredible good luck assisted-if Michigan and Florida had not jumped the gun and had their votes effectively annulled and Texas had not had a ridicuolous post election caucus it is likely that Clinton's momentum would have been such that she would have held her "Super Delegates" and had a landslide of non-committed Super Delegates to sew up the nomination.

Obama's victory, with impossible expectations and the destruction of Clinton, has unleashed forces which are now splitting the party apart. The PUMA movement is the heritage of the Clinton destruction and, as not only have major progressive planks not been enacted (DADT/Health Care to the degree they wished-for example), but the economic misery is threatening to lead to a tsunami of Democratic Party casualties in November.

The progressive are thrashing about in confusion, bitterness and hate. Sarah Palin is an easy target, but since she is not an elected official and may or may not ever be one, at the end of the day their venom is possibly wasted on that target-as amusing as it is to observers to see the visceral Pavlovian reaction whenever her name is mentioned.

As the President Obama's poll ratings slump the left, who invested so much in him, are bewildered. The NYC Mosque controversy has brought all these undercurrents to a head.In the past week we have seen  an outpouring of joy on the left to Obama's Ramadan comment ("His finest hour") followed by confusion when he walked the comments back. Then Harry Reid-fighting for his political life came out against the Mosque which unleashed a flood of venom against all of a sudden "Spineless Harry".

Now a leftist favourite  Howard Dean attacks the Mosque concept and all  of  a sudden he is discovered to be "Not really a leftist, more a centrist". The radical left is in utter confusion-voices are heard advising they will not vote this November as they are "All the same" whilst others are looking to "Genuine leftists parties" e.g. The Greens to be the repository for their dreams of a perfect society.

If, as seems likely based on the Massachusetts/Virginia/New Jersey elections, the Independents swing to the right and the radical left stay home, the November elections have the  possibility of being transformational-more than, as the centrist Democratic Party commentators pretend  a "Return to the mean".

If this happens it will not be the fault of the progressive left denizens of "Daily Kos" and the like as they have the excuse of having been naive and unworldly in 2008. Rather it will be the fault of the leftist media who so built up Obama in their Bush hatred that they have unwittingly sown the seeds of their parties coming electoral  battering and, even more ironically, may  have paved the way for Palin in 2012.

The Most Beautiful Voice Ever Recorded-Orriel Smith

In the early 1960's, at the height of the folk  music boom an 18 year old girl named Orriel Smith recorded a folk album for Colombia "A Voice In the Wind" which showcased what is surely the purest, most lyrical voice ever recorded.

I have documented her career at this website and have placed some of her seminal tracks there. For pure emotion, clarity of word and tone "Take My Mother Home" is incredible-how someone so young could lend this old spiritual such mature emotional feeling is a mystery.

So too with the classic Irish Fenian song "Down By The Glenside" which is imbued with soaring emotion and a coloratura soprano of incredible purity.

I have had the privilege of meeting Orriel and she is as delightful in person as her talent suggests and, all these years later, her voice is still as pure and sweet as ever as witness the video clip of her singing "O Holy Night" in French.

I am delighted to advise Orriel is working on a new collection of folk songs, the advance listening of which gave me much delight as does her whimsical  "Operatic Chicken" Cd's which cluck to incredible operatic high notes !

For those of you who remember Orriel I hope this is a re-introduction and for those  hearing her for the first time I am sure you will be enthralled  and delighted at this incredible talent.

Palin Or Romney-Whose Statements On the 9/11 Mosque Were More Courageous?

Sarah Palin has led the dialogue on the 9/11 Mosque concept and it might fairly be stated that her call to the President to state his position on the controversy led him to make the two, seemingly conflicting, statements which have led to a veritable firestorm.

Palin, once again, has taken a strong, clear position on a controversial matter and of all the possible 2012 candidates appears to be the one who is doing the heavy lifting for the Republican Party-and of course taking all the incoming flack (not that that bothers her).

To be fair to the other possible major voice in the 2012 scenario I detail below, in full so there is no possibility of bias or being accused of taking comments out of context, all the major announcements I could find by Romney regarding the Mosque situation, his strong and principled statements and all the subsequent media analysis.

Palin's Endorsements; Liberal Media/Bloggers Just Don't Get It.Her Principles Above Expediency

The LSM and the Palin bashing bloggers are either too thick, blind or prejudiced to understand the reasoning behind Sarah Palin's various endorsements and treat the election results like some sort of tallying contest.

Conservatives4Palin have presented a great analysis of how her endorsements have done results wise and have taken to task those in the media who present a distorted view of various results e.g. CNN stating Palin went "0 for 2" when in fact it was 2 for 2 etc. Washington Posts Chris Cillizza on ABC's
"Top Line" also (as expected) made the same faulty analysis.

They, the biased media, all miss the point. If Palin had simply wished to run up an impressive score of winning candidates she could have simply endorsed candidates, like Rossi for example, in Washington, who stood the best chance of winning, or not endorsed any candidate who was not way out in front in the polls.

She made it outstandingly clear during her resignation speech that she would endorse candidates who she felt were standing on back to basics conservative principles and "If I die I die". If 100% of her endorsements failed to win but they presented to the American people a program of renewal for our country then that would be a principled stand worthy of someone of the highest consideration to lead America.

The leftist media can't get it through their collective heads that, with Palin, they are dealing with someone who puts principle above expediency. Of course Palin supporters would wish to see a 100% winning result for all her endorsements (and of course some have done very well) but we  "Get it" because our thinking is conditioned by Palin to put what is right before self.
