Update:14 Inescapable Reasons Why Palin Is Running For President

Update:14 Inescapable Reasons Why Palin Is Running For President.

#1

Her Mother, Sally Heath, clearly wants her to run (unlike Jeb's Mother who said no, then possibly, and Mitts wife who seems against the idea). For Mrs. Heath to post this so near to the "declaring season" surely must have some family background.

If not, then psychologically as Governor Palin weighs everything up knowing that she has family support is a tick in the "run" box. For Governor Palin to post it in her widely followed Facebook page is something.if she had not posted it that would be something else.

Ha! Believe it or not I received this from... my mom!

Palin's schedule for January includes Iowa this week at what is considered the first"cattle call' for prospective 2016 candidates. Palin will be the headliner

Iowa! Can't wait to be back next weekend. We looked back at pictures of our many fun, diverse adventures in the Hawkeye State over the years and wanted to share some here.

Thank you to Citizens United and your courageous, selfless Congressman Steve King for putting together this awesome Freedom Summit. I look forward to joining you and our new and old Iowa friends to forge the future path – bright and successful – of our party and more importantly our country! If you can't make it to Iowa, you can watch the Freedom Summit live here:

A serious grassroots campaign group "The Earthquake Group" (The Political Earthquake PAC) has set up a website at Facebook is fundraising and has put up a significant billboards for Governor Palin's Iowa visit.

The website for the Political EarthquakePAC is politicalearthquakepac.com website with information about Sarah is palinquake.com

Would they do this without some indication, from somewhere, that their efforts will not be in vain? Either way, the fact that grassroots organizations are in place or ready to go might be taken on board by Palin as she look s to the immediate future.

#4.

The key primary Palmetto state South Carolina received a lot of Palin's attention.

And although she couldn't' make the Tea Party event in Myrtle Beach South Carolina she made a highly professional video which was shown there and she indicated she will be in the state

"Sold Out in South Carolina! Overflow crowds of independent tea party Americans packed Myrtle Beach, SC today to gather, prepare and look forward to 2016. Thank you to the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition for your invite. I bet it was much warmer there than it was here in Alaska! Congratulations on a great convention and I hope to see you soon!
- Sarah Palin "

Governor Palin's immediate schedule allows for venues where a momentous announcement could be made. At the very least, at the end of this immediate schedule, her profile will be even higher than it is now(which seems hardly possible given the massive media interest in her visit to Las Vegas)

especially after her being invited to address to Cambridge University (schedule conflict precluded)

Time is running out.

As I wrote in  LINK

"Palin To Put Supporters And Haters Out Of "Will She Run" Misery By July?"

The first debates are scheduled for August. If Palin has not declared by then it would seem unlikely that,as the declared candidates debate on nationwide TV, she could declare after that date.

# 7

CPAC (Feb 25-28).

Governor Palin being invited set off another media frenzy and,a she did in 2008 she delivered an outstandign speech which destroyed the media's meme.

#8

She didn't say yes-she didn't say no she didn't say stop she didn't say she'd go.

In nearly every interview in the last month Governor Palin has not ruled out running.

"Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, indicated she might run for president in a conversation with an ABC News reporter at a soup kitchen on Thursday.
“Yeah, I mean, of course, when you have a servant’s heart, when you know that there is opportunity to do all you can to put yourself forward in the name of offering service, anybody would be interested,” Palin said."

AND TO COMPOUND THE CONFIRMATION; Governor Palin in Iowa
advises the Washington Post's Robert Costa (no friend of Palin's "She struggles on diminished" he wrote last year)

“You can absolutely say that I am seriously interested,” Palin said, when asked to clarify her thinking about a possible presidential bid."
Palin said,

“It is a significant step, of course, for anyone to publicly announce that they’re interested. Who wouldn’t be interested? Who wouldn’t be interested when they have been blessed with opportunities to speak about what is important to this country and for this country?”

#9. No third party run.

After considerable speculation, after Speaker Boehner was reflected which many on the right saw a a "betrayal of the mid-terms mandate that Governor Palin might head a third party she has shown no interest whatsoever recently-quite the contrary in fact

#10.

The subtle sign?

Whilst continuing to "go rogue" and hold the GOP to account if they stray from the 2014 mid term mandate e.g.

"Sarah Palin on New GOP Majority: ‘It’s Not Just the New England Patriots Who Are Dealing with Deflated Balls’"

It is noticeable that she has taken pains on a number of occasions to include herself in the "big tent"-giving kudos to the GOP Establishment. This could be a strong signal that if she did run she would stay within bounds whilst keeping to her "rogue" nature. To me this is the strongest signal of any that she will run.

“That GOP leadership, that establishment, they've got to get their stuff together. I love what they believe in, I believe in it too."

And:

Do these 14 points lead to the conclusion that Palin will run for president? The weight of them leads me to conclude she will-we shall see, and shall see soon (see point #6)

#11. The 2008 key people are still in place plus some new advisers of note:

(Costa Reports Washington Post)
"Palin arrived in Iowa Friday alongside Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), one of her closest political allies, and Jason Recher, one of Palin’s longtime political advisers."

Which elicited this comment

"Jason Recher, FP expert who helped prep Sarah Palin for VP debates in 2008. Hmmm, seems like she has retained a few key people in her circles"

N.B. If Palin chooses not to run in 2016 but endorses a candidate enthusiastically then, in that person
"Palinism in the presidency" comes into effect. Thus, in effect, Palin herself is the candidate and can be said to be running.

CPAC (Feb 25-28).

Possibly the ideal avenue for a declaration. Governor Palin is not listed as an invitee/speaker at this point but it was the same last year when her coming to address CPAC  was left to right near the event which of course drove up interest massively. If Palin is invited it will set off another media frenzy-if she isn't
that might signal she will not run (although her commitment on Feb 25th might be a valid mitigating factor.)

Palin Ends All 3rd Party Speculation (Or Does She?)

On January 15th I wrote, at Bob Belvedere's 'The Camp Of The Saints'
an article "Third Party 2016: Viable Reality Or Pipe Dream?" after there had been considerable calls for the formation of a third party by conservatives unhappy with Boehners re-election which some saw as a betrayal of the mid-terms mandate.

The article was not so much focused on possible third party personalities, although Governor Palin was mentioned, rather it covered the constitutional, practical and Electoral College aspects.

These facts are, at the end of the day, more important than consideration of any particular proposed leader of a nascent force. In politics, as mundane as such things are, as e.g. "how many signatures are required to access a line on the Virginia ballot" are in reality the make or break aspects of third party creation.

However, a message from Governor Palin, in the form of the video above to the tea party meeting in Myrtle Beach South Carolina, Courtesy of Conservatives4Palin has apparently rendered any further third party consideration as moot.

In her message; "Sarah Palin ‏ Sold Out in South Carolina! Overflow crowds of independent tea party Americans packed Myrtle Beach, SC today " Palin advised inter alia "Republicans, Independents, even Blue Dog Democrats, Reagan Democrats need to get together and decide the future of the party .. so that we can elect a Republican President in 2016."

The core message appears quite clear, Palin is urging a broad tent coalition of Republicans of all stripes with the welcome addition of conservative Democrats unhappy with the current direction of that party.

To advise that coalition which includes, on the face of it, Establishment Republicans, in an address to the antithesis of the Establishment "independent tea party Americans" leaves no room for the possibility of a third party as it would be these very sort of grass roots people who would have to be the rock which such a party was founded on.

Whilst not an absolute it is, I believe, more than fair to state that without Governor Palin leading a conservative third party there is nobody else who has the mass following, name recognition and fundraising ability who could make such a concept any more than a waste of time and a will o' the wisp to vanish after the general election never to be heard of again.

But...what is left unsaid perhaps, is-what might happen if "Republicans, Independents, even Blue Dog Democrats, Reagan Democrats" don't get together? What might eventuate should e.g. Mitt Romney get the nomination on a platform of mass amnesty or Jeb Bush on a platform of mass amnesty and common core?

Clearly there is still much water to flow under the GOP's bridge with perhaps the largest volume being wither Governor Palin?

With the first Republican candidates debate scheduled for this August the next six months will go far to resolving both her candidacy and the third party issue.

The highly professional video presentation, equal to any active candidates promotion as far as quality is concerned, to the Myrtle Beach gathering, and a shout out to Iowa both on the same day, might be an indication of the former.

The latter matter is now, surely, at least dormant if not dead, but may rise phoenix like as matters await resolving.

If The Establishment Sabotages Trump Is A Trump/Palin Third Party 2016 Viable?

I wrote this in January well before Donald Trump's ascendancy. If at this crucial stage the Establishment insist on doing everything possible to sabotage his campaign and he goes third party there is every chance he could win given the utter disgust the public has with the current situation.

This might be a momentous time in American history.

I have made a slight revision to the original but the basic outlise stands in my opinion.

Third Party 2016:

15 JANUARY 2015

The 2014 mid-terms landslide with its Boehner re-election aftermath, had a similar expression of Tea Party/conservative disgust as did the 2012 landslide. Now, as then, voices have been raised calling for a conservative third party.
Leaving aside persons and personalities, if the question of the viability of a third party is to be considered outside of the emotion of the moment, disgust with this or that possible Establishment candidate, then the Electoral College and constitutional issues need to be examined.
Even with massive enthusiasm and huge grass roots funding behind such a movement, history shows that victory first time up would be unlikely (although a major economic dislocation could prove an exceptional catalyst). Teddy Roosevelt crushed the Republican establishment in 1912, but lost heavily to the Dem’s, La Follette had substantial enthusiasm at 19.24% of the popular vote but did poorly in the Electoral College, as did Perot 18.9% and George Wallace13.5%.
In 1856, the new Republican Party lost in their first outing, whilst performing credibly and, after the next election, became the major force in presidential politics for the next 56 years. Thus the Whigs, who displaced the Federalists, and the Republicans who replaced the Whigs, prove that a new party can, if there is a major social shift, not only do well but can become a dominant force.
Below are illustrations of how a new party could eclipse the GOP as it now stands and win in 2016, although 2020 in a straight two party race would seem more likely. The major question would be whether, if the new party did well but did not win, it could stay around for another run-unlike Roosevelt’s Progressive Party. Thus those who might consider a new party would have to also consider the massive commitment it would require.
The question is, would a third party run give it a realistic chance of winning the presidency in 2016?
The answer is, yes if the environment is right. If by November 2016 the economy is not better than now, or has turned down massively, and if Romney or Jeb Bush were the GOP’s candidate which caused  conservatives to bolt, then a three way vote split is quite possible.
This approximates the three party (Dem/Bull Moose/GOP) 1912 election. That election was prevented from being thrown into the House because sitting President Taft only carried two states, but split the vote with Roosevelt 23% to 27% denying Roosevelt enough electoral votes to stop Wilson having an outright win.
Whereas the scenario below, realistically for the situation over 100 years later, shows the GOP candidate winning enough electoral votes to ensure no candidate had a majority.
It would require a genuine conservative, like Palin, who is the only person with enough name recognition, support base and fundraising ability to have any chance, to head a mass movement third party run. Concomitantly, if there was a major economic downturn, and a split in the left was exacerbated to the point that the “Progressives” stayed home on election day, and the Tea Party turned out en-mass, then the map below (with the prospective third party states in beige) is a very plausible result.
In this scenario the Democratic candidate would not have the 270 electoral college votes needed for outright victory. Under the constitution, the GOP standard bearer, the Dem, and the third party candidate would be the candidates the House would decide from. (presuming no other candidate had any electoral college votes. If they did they would be eliminated from the balloting as only the top three go through for consideration)
Every state would have one vote based  on the result of each states party representation. Thus, for example New York’s one vote would go to the Dem, and Wyoming’s one vote would go to the new Conservative Party, or to the Republican. Given the Republican, in this scenario, would have no chance of winning, it would be presumed that the votes of the states that Republican had won would go to the Conservative. This, if after the first ballot, no candidate had a majority of states votes, and if the conservative was the second choice of general election voters as per the map below.
Given it would be unlikely that the GOP would lose control of the House and the state caucus delegations, thus, on the most recent analysis, the GOP would have a majority of the 50 states votes based on caucus outcomes when balloting.
This scenario played out before. In the election of 1824 Andrew Jackson finished first with more electoral votes than John Quincy Adams, William Crawford came third and Henry Clay fourth. With Clay eliminated he threw the support of his states to Adams, who was duly elected, based on the fact of his having the majority of states.
Interestingly the combined Adams/Clay popular vote was 43.9% to Jackson’s 41.3% so in effect electoral justice was done. Similarly in the map below the combined non-Dem electoral vote is 274-four above the minimum of 270, and thus electoral justice would also have been done 187 years later
The full constitutional scenario is set out below the map.”Undecided” means third party  and the map represents a 2016 scenario disregarding Obama as the Democratic candidate. In the ensuing map from 1912 it clearly shows how a sitting president can only carry two states as did Taft so the scenario is entirely plausible.
MJSheppard-2016-Electoral-Scenario-ThirdParty-xMJSheppard-1912-Electoral-Vote-x
Wilson received 41.7% of the vote and 435 Electoral College votes/Roosevelt 27.4 and 88/Taft 23.2% and 8. Thus Roosevelt/Taft had a popular vote majority (The Socialist Debs received 6%)
The constitution is very clear on the matter. Article 12 states, inter- alia:
“The person having the greatest Number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice.”
Thus, if the no candidate with an electoral college majority scenario plays out, and presuming there are no other candidates who have won electoral votes, the House would meet to choose the next president by January 20th 2017, with the states having one vote each, whilst the Senate would meet to choose the Vice-President.
Based on the current composition of the House, and if voting went strictly on party lines, with no vote switching or abstentions in states with a close proportion of Republicans and Democrats, the Independent (or third party) candidate would be chosen on the first or second ballot.
The Electoral College map is of course set out for illustrative purposes only. Given a political, social and economic environment in such a state of flux that a major third party effort had arisen there is no way of knowing, at this point in time, how any particular state might go on election day. The point is however, that there is a scenario where none of the three candidates had an Electoral College majority and thus a new, third party candidate could win-if not in 2016 then in 2020 — once the movement had bedded down and the GOP had gone the way of the Whigs.
Clearly, all the possible ducks would have to be in a row, a major personality such as Governor Palin would have to lead the new party and, as always money would be the determinate of how far along such a movement could go. Even a Perot or a Bloomberg or a Trump with all their personal wealth in such an undertaking, could only get so far and the fundraising, without corporate or Establishment support would have to be unprecedented from the grass roots. However if the economic and political winds had shifted enough and corporate America saw the GOP had no chance, and perhaps some of the newly wealthy entrepreneur class were interested the finance might become available at that point.
The only guarantee that can be confidently stated is that if a major third party did get underway the windmill it tilted at, without the finance required, would be the GOP’s whose 2016 candidate would be doomed.Whether that is a bad result would be a matter for ones personal predilections, if it brought an internal Reaganite revolution for 2020 perhaps the third party concept might not prove to be quite so quixotic in the end.

Updated:L.A.Times Abcarian See Presidential Election As Amusement;Epitomizes Irrelevant Media

From my article at American Thinker

The Los Angeles Times columnist Robin Abcarian Posted a column   "Um, Could Sarah Palin please run for president" a classic example of anti-Palin elitism. She looks to the 2016 presidential elections "with anticipation and dread." Dread because apparently the process is tres tres "exhausting."   Reading her sardonic screed the question rises what on earth does any of what she writes have to do with serious journalism"?

Perhaps that is the wrong question to ask, perhaps, it's "Is political "journalism"  utterly dead in the print media having committed hara-kari with grossly biased coverage of the McCain-Palin campaign in 2008?"

Even though ethical, unbiased journalism died with the liberal media not even making a halfhearted attempt at any sort of even handed reporting of the Obama/McCain presidential race, and especially the Palin candidacy for vice-president, the obvious bias was reported in a straightforward manner. That the Obama presidency has dashed the, frankly idiotic, unicorn ridden dreams of the mostly youthful media contingent, has produced an odd overlay of weltschmertz which, badly, hides the disappointment and blocks the criticism which any honest person would present in their mea culpa.

Abcarian incidentally has made a career choice of being the red meat tosser of Palin hate to Los Angeles Dem's (e.g. such previous condescension as;"Liberals: She can't hurt you anymore. It's time to get over her."Her career is about self-enrichment now, not politics." )

Which snideness epitomizes the absolute nadir of the journalistic descent into irrelevance by a deft, to give her her only due, combination of Palin "snark" with an utterly cynical overview of the upcoming 2016 campaign-a bravura performance of 'sound and fury signifying nothing' to quote a real writer.

Abcarian firstly ruminates sarcastically on past GOP candidates e.g. Herman Cain, Gingrich, Perry, Bachmann for their, to her, "colorful distraction" value. Then, looking to 2016 gives the potential candidates of the Establishment a pass, (of course) before finding fault with current "swimming underdog" (sic) Rand Paul who, whilst apparently having "indefensible ideas" is not as much of a "crackpot" as his father.

Having, for forms sake possibly, to introduce some sort of balance she dredges up Bernie Sanders on the"Democratic" side. That Sanders is an Independent still doesn't seem to matter, but he will do as the supposed "Dem" for her exercise.

Now, it is fair to advise that some dispassionate observers might consider Sanders eccentric, but not so Abcarian. She kindly describes the old gentleman whom nobody except on the wilder shores of "DailyKos" readers takes seriously as a candidate as "a very seasoned political operator, and I see nothing in his history that hints at campaign trail loopiness." Talk about rose colored glasses.

That candidates review would be considered "balanced" if one is a blinkered leftist. Having disposed of the Republicans, except for Jeb of course, she then launches into her bete noir in extremis Governor Palin (that she would ever use the honorific would be a miracle of selflessness and journalistic ethics) and there follows four paragraphs dripping with utter sarcasm.

It is interesting that on the same day Time ran a deeply sincere and honest portrait of Palin as a caring human being which article was totally stripped of the usual leftist cant that Abcarian so clearly relishes.

Writing like a teenager (you can just hear the giggling) Abcarian flexes her journalistic muscle and surveys Palin for 2016:"I could not help but get a teensy bit excited over the weekend when she sparked a war of words with animal rights activists after praising her 6-year-old son for stepping on the back of his dog to reach the kitchen counter."

And the denouement. With all intellectual muscles stretched to breaking  point-after all millions support Governor Palin so Abcarain's comment should be expected to be well measured and insightful-but instead we are served up this tripe.

But Palin’s response to PETA’s criticism shows that she would be a formidable contender in 2016, simply for entertainment value:
Seriously, how do we get this woman to run?"

Clearly the media of integrity and seriousness is dead and what remains views the political process as a source of utter partisanship, titivation, and personal amusement.
