The just announced Associated Press/Gfk Poll shows the continued rise in support for Sarah Palin. Palin polls higher than Mitt Romney for favorability, who leads the pack of announced candidates, amongst Republicans.
"_Republicans still give Romney the highest favorability rating among announced candidates, at 61 percent. Palin, who's keeping everyone guessing about her intentions, is holding steady, too, with a 63 percent favorability rating."
Amongst "likely voters" Palin's ratings continue to show improvement with a net gain of six points from May to June with her unfavorables showing a significant drop from 59% to 55% and a concomitant rise in her favorables to 38%.
This poll is just one is a recent series which, taken overall, show a steady rise in support for Palin.

Hillary-A Nation Turns Its Lonely Eyes To You
With President Obama coming under attack from-of all people Al Gore, with the Fed now admitting the economy is hitting, what the president described, before hitting the golf links, as "headwinds", whilst 9.1% of Americans are out of work, with many, especially in the Black community who put so much faith in candidate Obama, for a long time, the Washington Post asks the key 2012 question.
Chris Cillizza at Washpo's The Fix states the obvious in respect to how, given the current economic circumstances, President Obama will deal with the Reagan/Carter question "are you better off than you were four years ago?" There are not many options really.
Obama can state that things would have been a lot worse if he hadn't been elected, which is of course debatable, but may not wash with those on food stamps. He could try and blame the Bush administration, but that shipped sailed in the 2010 elections, or he could find some statistics, which is always an option as 'there are lies, damn lies and statistics" which point to a nascent trending recovery which will be jeopardized "unless I am re-elected." Good luck with that.
What makes the Reagan question even more dangerous for President Obama's re-election chances is, that although the economy under Carter was indeed suffering a "malaise" and inflation was high, the unemployment rate, and feeling of economic malaise (as opposed to foreign policy malaise) was nowhere as bad as it is now-and we saw what happened to Carter's re-election chances.
Clearly, as Cillizza points out-unless, as happened with Reagan's re-election, there are clear and unmistakeable "morning in America" signs of economic recovery, Obama will most likely suffer the same fate as Carter did when the Reagan question is trotted out again.
A response to the Cillizza column pleads for Hillary Clinton to mount a challenge to the president.
"Hillary Clinton should resign from the BO administration and provide the country with an acceptable alternative to BO. We cannot afford another Obama term of unconscionable ineptitude."
This is of course not unprecedented, as it is exactly what Ted Kennedy did to Carter under similar economic conditions. Accusations of disloyalty would not be a problem as she has served in her post in an honorable (especially as she has handed in her notice) and supportive fashion (as has Huntsman, a GOP challenger from Obama's administration for example). She can offer a clear exposition of what she presented as an alternative management style in 2008, and what she would do differently going forwards.
The Republican contenders are busy differentiating themselves from each other as a major focus, whereas Clinton can disregard that aspect and mount a positive campaign, free of personal attacks and fully engaged with the matter at hand-America's economic plight. She would not be mounting a "vanity" campaign and if she did run on economics she would not be accused of running a 'sour grapes" vendetta.
There are no doubt millions of Democrats who would immediately jump to her side, the various Hillary PUMA bloggers, who are still very much extant, would jump for joy at the chance to crank up their support. The Los Angeles Times has already run an opinion piece supporting the concept "Why Hillary Clinton must run in 2012"
But most of all a Clinton challenge would give the American public an avenue to hear an economic alternative free from the Dem/Rep partisanship which automatically dismisses anything from the other side. If she ran, for the good of America, the Democrats and the administration would have to look deep inside themselves to see what they could do better-which would be better for everyone, no matter which party they support.

Obama's Polling Falls An Incredible 17 Points In 6 Weeks From 60% Approval To 43%
Perhaps it has been the spectacle of the Obama's living the high life in Europe with Michelle in $1000 dresses whilst home values plummet and unemployment stays high.
For whatever reason or reasons the polling for President Obama has shown an amazing drop from the 60% approval rating he garnered just a few weeks ago on May 9th in the Associated Press /GfK poll to the Gallup poll out today which has him at 43 % on June 22nd.
In a direct Gallup comparison President Obama was on 51% approval just over two weeks ago, which marks a huge 8 point drop.
In a direct Gallup comparison President Obama was on 51% approval just over two weeks ago, which marks a huge 8 point drop.
This 17 point drop must be one of the quickest in polling history-certainly in Obama's presidency-and if it continues at anywhere near this pace presages bad news for his re-election efforts.

Christianity Under Potential Threat In Nepal
There is a briefing from the United Mission to Nepal concerning proposed changes to the Criminal Code and Civil Code in Nepal. If the changes are introduced the consequences for Christians in Nepal could be profound. Please read the attached briefing and consider whether you feel you can make a response as requested in it.
UMN BRIEFING PAPER
Draft Nepali “Act of Offence Against Religions”
10 June 2011
Background
A Committee is at present preparing two documents: a Criminal Code and a Civil Code, to replace the old Civil Code. These have been formulated by a Committee
comprised of secretaries from various ministries under the leadership of one
of the senior legal person from Supreme Court. Draft documents were submitted to the Prime Minister on 20 May, and he has since then presented them to Cabinet. The documents will now go to another parliamentary committee and, once revised and approved by them, will be submitted to the Constituent Assembly to be passed into law.
These documents contain Articles (157 to 161) regarding the practice and manifestation of religions which appear to be in conflict with the provisions of the Interim Constitution and basic human rights.
While this is a law that could primarily affect minority religious communities in Nepal, including Christians and Muslims, it is also potentially a violation of fundamental freedoms of opinion, belief and expression.
The Interim Constitution of Nepal declares Nepal a secular state (Part 1 Article 4), gives every citizen freedom of opinion and expression (Part 3 Article 3a) and the right to “profess, practise and preserve his/her own religion as handed down to him/her in ancient times” (Part 3 Article 23). The UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1991) which Nepal has signed, includes Article 18 which safeguards a person’s right to manifest his/her religion. This has generally been interpreted as the right to evangelistic and missionary activities.
Please note: What follows is a preliminary analysis of a draft piece of legislation which has not yet been put before the Constituent Assembly.
The Act of Offence Against Religions
The Civil Code contains 5 clauses regarding religious behaviour. Several of these clauses could provide substantial protection to religious faith and observance, particularly for minority faiths like Christianity. For example, Clause 157 protects religious places, including cemeteries; Clause 158 precludes vilifying another religion; Clause 159 prevents anyone from obstructing a religious ritual.
There are, however, grave concerns about some parts of these laws, and the potential impact on Christians, churches and Christian organisations, as well as other minority religious groups.
Clause 158
“Undermining any religious feeling”
Speaking or writing about one’s religion is a basic right. Could this clause be used to stifle free expression of religion, on the basis that learning about another religion could cause a person to question their own? Further, could this mean that discriminatory practices which are embedded in religious belief – like the caste system, for example, or inequitable treatment of women and girls – would be protected from scrutiny or criticism?
Clause 159
“Putting an obstacle in the way of religious rituals which have been in existence since time immemorial”
Could the last phrase be used to argue that only the traditional religions of Nepal (Hinduism and Buddhism) are afforded this protection, or that the exercise of “newer” religions in Nepal could undermine the traditional ones?
Clause 160
"Converting a person or abetting him to change his religion"
"by offering inducements or without inducement," and preaching "a different religion or faith with any other intent".
This clause is of serious concern. This law seems to go further than Nepal’s Interim Constitution of 2007, by making it an illegal to act or behave in any way which might lead someone to change their religion, even without offering inducements. This could include a number of actions that most Christians would see as being integral to the exercise of their faith, as it might result in another person wishing to become a Christian.
Response
As far as we can tell, the legislation has been drafted in Committee, without consultation or communication with faith groups. Certainly, the leaders of the key Nepali Christian umbrella organisations have not been informed. At present, Christian leaders are seeking further information and legal advice, and working on ways in which they can feed into the process from now on. A concerted response has not yet been devised.
What can you do?
Please pray:
for a united Nepali Christian voice on the proposed legislation;
for opportunities for Christians to meet with and influence legislators;
for the passage of fair legislation that guarantees full religious freedoms for all Nepalis.
Contact your Foreign Minister and express your concern about the legislation and ask that s/he calls on the Government of Nepal to ensure that any legislation guarantees full religious freedoms for all Nepalis.
Contact the Nepalese Embassy or Consulate in your country, and ask them to share your concern about this legislation with the Government of Nepal.
Left's Latest Palin Meme "OK She's Not Dumb-But She's Faking Dumb"
In a further instance of "be careful what you wish for as it may come back to bite you" schadenfreude the leftist meme they have been pushing about Sarah Palin -that she is "dumb" has had a severe setback.
In a case of delicious irony this has been caused by the release of the 24,000 emails from Palin's time as Governor of Alaska, which the main stream media salivated over until their release, and whimpered over when they found there was no "smoking gun" of any sort.
Not only has the media's witch hunt made Palin seem right in her complaints about press bias, but the actual emails showed a hard working, very concerned, and very human and likeable person. This has destroyed a number of the lefts attacking missiles.
The "Palin is lazy" message has gone by the boards as her work load-24,000 emails alone- was hugely impressive. The "Palin administration was "corrupt and vengeful" has also bit the dust as no such aspects emerged, in fact quite the opposite, to the degree that emails surfaced where Palin pleaded for any attacks against her staff to be turned against her.
But perhaps the most common attack against Palin has been that she "is so dumb she can't create a sensible sentence." Sadly for the left the well constructed, well thought out emails, that one would expect from a person who was professional journalist, are of such a standard that they have been compared highly favorably to the immortal speeches of Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King.
In an an analysis of Palin's writings entitled "Writing analysts claim Palin writes "better than most educated American's"
They don't examine why this might be the case (actually it is not, she has most certainly become more guarded and worldly wise) but if it was, it would be because of the inexorable attacks on her and her family by a rabidly leftist media.
The latest bubble to be burst is of course the "dumb" one. It is apparent to everyone that the emails revealed an intelligent person. So much so that the left has retreated to a fall back position, which is actually dumber than the Palin caricature they created. This one is "OK, Palin is not dumb, but she sounds dumb, because she is pretending to be so to capture the hicks and rubes who are attracted to her show of dumbness."
lest I be accused of making this preposterous concept up, in response to a piece in the New Republic which stated " Call her defensive or parochial based on the cache of her spontaneous writings while serving as governor of Alaska, but something easy to miss is that Palin, in contrast to her meandering, involuted speaking style, is a thoroughly competent writer—more so than a great many people most of us likely know…." … And yet, the oratorical Palin is the swivel-tongue we all know—which means that Palin demonstrates with almost scientific precision that writing well stems not from general linguistic ability, but the specific activity of reading early."
The far left Firedoglake blog ridiculed the linguistic conclusion by quoting a Twitter post ". the reason Palin talks “funny” is that she’s faking the folksiness… So Palin may trip herself up translating herself from English into cornball. GHW Bush had same problem." and concluded "As it happens, this is an issue that’s come up before — as shown in the video inset above. It depicts an evolution toward scatterbrained speech uncannily like a similar transformation of G.W.Bush when he decided to run for the White House.
So not only is Palin not dumb, she is in fact now accepted as a clever writer, and so Machiavellian clever that she is disguising her cleverness behind a façade of "transparent pretense". That this "pretense" seems to have been not so transparent to the media for over two years, is either a tribute to how very clever she is, or how very dumb they are.

In an an analysis of Palin's writings entitled "Writing analysts claim Palin writes "better than most educated American's"
"AOL News brought samples to two writing analysts who independently evaluated 24,000 pages of the former governor’s emails. They came back in agreement that Palin composed her messages at an eighth-grade level, an excellent score for a chief executive, they said.“I’m a centrist Democrat, and would have loved to support my hunch that Ms. Palin is illiterate,” said 2tor Chief Executive Officer John Katzman.“However, the emails say something else. Ms. Palin writes emails on her Blackberry at a grade level of 8.5.“If she were a student and showing me her work, I‘d say ’It’s fine, clear writing,’” he said, admitting that emails he wrote scored lower than Palin’s on the widely used Flesch-Kincaid readability test.
While some would initially scoff or laugh at Palin’s grade-level assessment, past speakers and writers of note have scored comparably. Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address was a 9.1 and Martin Luther King’s famed “I have a Dream” came in at 8.8. Remember, Palin’s results were based on e-mails, not riveting speeches, so the fact that they score remotely close to the aforementioned works is intriguing .
Overall, this is good news for Palin, as her writing was found to be better than some CEOs’. The New York Daily News sheds further light on her abilities:
Well, so much for the Palin is dumb meme, but how has the left responded now that bubble has burst? In actuality they have had to deal with two burst bubbles. As far as the "Palin is too polarizing" theme, which the emails show is not true, they have taken a rear guard fall back position that "Palin was a non-polarizing figure when she was Governor, but subsequent to her becoming the VP candidate the "new " Palin has become a changed, polarizing person."It turns out Palin’s writing skills are still better than most educated Americans. Global Language Monitor gave Palin’s emails a score of 8.2, which actually exceeds that of most chief executives."
They don't examine why this might be the case (actually it is not, she has most certainly become more guarded and worldly wise) but if it was, it would be because of the inexorable attacks on her and her family by a rabidly leftist media.

I’m not sure which is more surprising… that Palin or Bush thought they could fool people (and the media) with such transparent pretense, or that so many were in fact fooled."
