Romney Campaign "Hires Palin Basher" No Way To Win 3 Million Palin Supporters

Sarah Palin has over 3 million followers on Facebook. Her last 6 endorsed candidates have won, some against all the odds, like Deb Fischer in Nebraska. There are grumblings about the Romney team lacking the guts to take on president Obama like AT THIS LINK. 


So what does team Romney do? Well according to Stacy Drake at Conservatives4Palin they hire someone to run their operation who said, according to Drake’s research, of  Palin  during the recent primary  campaign 


“ [Y]ou’re using a presidential campaign as a vehicle to build a little bit more of a profile as a celebrity, or somebody who’s going to be on TV- somebody’s who’s going to be selling books and giving speeches.”


This alienation of Palin’s mass support is just nutty. Well good luck to team Romney as this spreads to her millions of admirers who felt she was given a bum rap, not only by the left but, and especially, was stabbed in the back by the GOP establishment.

Kevin Madden, a Republican communications expert with long ties to Mitt Romney, will become a more frequent and visible spokesman for the presidential campaign, a source close to the decision said on Friday.

The increased responsibilities for Mr. Madden came in the wake of criticism from nervous Republicans about Mr. Romney’s campaign team.The Wall Street Journal said in an editorial that the campaign “looks confused in addition to being politically dumb.”

Mr. Madden was Mr. Romney’s press secretary during the 2008 campaign, appearing frequently on television and serving as the primary foil for the cadre of national political reporters following the candidate.

You will recall that Kevin Madden complained about Governor Palin during an interview with CNN, before the 2008 election had even taken place, in October of that year, saying:

“Look, that is why people who have done this before, people who have run national campaigns, always tend to look at prospective V.P. candidates, and they’re the ones that are nationally vetted, the ones that have been governors on the scene for a long time, the ones that have been — gone through the scrutiny of the national press corps in Washington.”

Amanda Carpenter noted at the time:

Former Romney Spokesman Kevin Madden was particularly harsh on Palin in an interview on CNN. His criticism of Palin is especially noteworthy because we’re only days from the election.

In a spot with Campbell Brown Madden said Palin’s wardrobe flap showed how “unseasoned” Palin is.

Also, according to Erick Erickson (pre anti-Palin era), from October 2008:

When I was in St. Paul for the Republican Convention, I heard more than a dozen people say acolytes of Mitt Romney were feeding all the stories to the media portraying Palin in a negative light.

In fact, I heard that one of the biggest pushers of anti-Palin stories, including encouraging reporters to pursue the “Trooper-gate” story was Romney spokeshack Kevin Madden.

I did not blog on it at the time because I perceived it to be people trying to finish off Romney. It likewise seemed clear to me that if this was going on, it was people loyal to Romney who were still hoping for his come back and not Romney himself.

In 2011, Madden took a shot at Governor Palin, telling CBS News:

 [Y]ou’re using a presidential campaign as a vehicle to build a little bit more of a profile as a celebrity, or somebody who’s going to be on TV- somebody’s who’s going to be selling books and giving speeches.

Keep in mind that this was FIVE months before Governor Palin made her final decision not to seek the presidency. Governor Palin was still in the process of contemplating a run at that point. To suggest that she was using the presidential election to boost her profile, is to not understand how large her profile is. Madden was obviously trying to “poison the well” by suggesting to Republican voters that her motives for mulling a White House bid were insincere. It was an underhanded thing to do.

So, what are the odds that many of the “anonymous” attacks against Governor Palin from team Romney, actually came directly from Kevin Madden? If you look at his history of on-air statements, and his reputation, it’s not a very far-fetched notion.

The Romney campaign is trying to give off the appearance that they are getting their camp in order to settle the stomachs of GOP donors. Perhaps elevating an individual, who is known to many base Conservatives an an under-handed, trash-talking opportunist,  isn’t the best way to go about that. In fact, you might consider that a “politically dumb” move.

Texas Newspaper "Romney Needs To Step Aside & Let Palin Take Over"

The Lubbock Texas Avalanche-Journal has an impassioned opinion piece up today titled "Romney Must quit  supporting Obama". The article reflects, in the writers vociferous way (some of whose comments I disagree with) the disquiet in some parts of the GOP's camp at what is seen as, at least, a lacklustre campaign by Romney and for others actually a supportive campaign by him. The Wall Street Journal is quoted as another critic of Romney.


This of course stems in some major part with Romney's difficulty over the Obamacare situation-Romney being credited by Obama as being the conceptual originator of President Obama's own health care act.
The GOP, if it loses because of conservative abstention in November will have made a rod for its own back-there will be no use in blaming the majority of Republicans who voted for the other prospective candidates.


The GOP establishment wanted Romney, Romneycare and all and they now have him. 


That writers such as the one in Lubbock are giving vent to their frustration at Romney' apparent me to-ism  is hardly surprising. That there is a call for Palin to take over the reins-a proven fighter unblemished with Romney's Romneycare and flip-flopper reputation also not surprising, rather is it frustrating and saddening that the one person who called out Obama correctly for what he is in 2008 was pushed out of the running.

Romney Must Quit Supporting Obama!

Mitt Romney needs to quit supporting the campaign of Barack Hussein Obama.  It seems that Mitt Romney and his staff lack courage, as did John McCain, to take on a Black Marxist with a Muslim name.  It is time for Mitt Romney to shed all vestiges of Political Correctness, White Guilt, and Islamic Sensitivity.  Mitt Romney must start acting like the Presidential candidate who is capable of saving the United States of America and all of Western Civilization from Barack Obama, George Soros, and all on the Progressive Far Left who are supporting Barack Obama.

These are very difficult, challenging, and serious times.  Government spending and our National Debt are spiraling further out of control.  Few Republicans in Congress have the intestinal fortitude to challenge Obama and his corrupt Administration.  Barack Obama and Eric Holder continue to defy the laws of our nation and to act as if they hold imperial/dictatorial powers over the American people.

Mitt Romney promised the Republicans he was the best and most courageous person to be our Republican Presidential Candidate.  If Romney cannot quickly muster his courage and get his staff on board, Romney needs to step aside and let someone like Sarah Palin, Herman Cain, or Donald Trump take his place.

Obama has not been doing well as our President, and it is time for Obama to begin enjoying his retirement.  The American people agree and want Obama out of their White House.

Obama is apparently covering up and hiding his own involvement in the Fast and Furious gun smuggling operation.  The American people increasingly oppose ObamaCare.  Obama’s economic programs are not creating jobs nor are they creating economic growth.  Government spending and our national debt are both growing at alarming rates.  Obama is providing no resistance to the adverse and hostile actions of Iran, North Korea, China, Russia, Muslim Brotherhood, and many other terrorist groups.

Our Supreme Court just declared that the individual mandate in ObamaCare is a tax.  The American people hate additional taxes, so this was a great political advantage for Mitt Romney until his spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom said it was not a tax but a penalty.

Mitt Romney quickly corrected his spokesman.  Fox News reported,

"The majority of the court said it's a tax, therefore it's a tax," Romney said in a CBS News interview. "They have spoken. There's no way around that. The American people (now) know that President Obama has broken the pledge he made. He said he wouldn't raise taxes on middle-income Americans."

However, the Fox News report continued,

Romney's comments Wednesday in fact mark the second time in three days that the campaign has attempted to clarify its position.

Hours after Fehrnstrom's comment, the campaign issued a statement saying Romney considers the fine an "unconstitutional penalty" rather than a tax.

Taylor Marsh Lets Her Palin Hatred Get The Better Of Her Judgement Once Again

Sigh.....leftist women just can't let it go. Their hate for Sarah Palin, or rather the values she not only represents but lives, burns undiminished. (link)
Taylor Marsh, once again, has another bash at Palin and in doing so abrogates any right to be considered a journalist-but certainly she qualifies as a "journolist" the cabal of media writers who worked to elect Obama in 2008.


Marsh comments on Kelly Ayotte being possibly considered as a running mate for Romney;


"So, a qualified woman finally appears amid all the pasty white males considered on the short list, with many political insiders believing Sen. Marco Rubio’s baggage would be just too much for Team Mitt."

Clearly Marsh's whole attitude is that since her inamorata Hillary did not become president some other woman should. Her reason is so feminista skewed that journalism flies out the window in the process. Firstly, Rubio is an Hispanic and, especially as he lives in Florida would not be considered "pasty white" as if skin color is an indicator of capability-I thought Martin Luther King had put that to rest. 

But Marsh is so determined that sex trumps qualifications, after all what experience has Ayotte actually had to be an heartbeat away from the presidency, that she actually overcomes her prejudice against conservative, right to life, Christian women to push for Ayotte to be amongst those considered.

Secondly, Marsh has no way of knowing who is on the short list, which deliberations others  in the media have commented on as being highly secretive.  Susana Martinez has been bandied about which seems to have escaped Marsh. She writes; 

"Obviously, her politics aren't mine, as I could never vote for a woman who’s against my own individual freedoms and right to self-determination, but then I'm a liberal, not a religious conservative."

And then she segue's into her hobby horse, bashing Sarah Palin.

"Conservative women have been silent on the importance of getting past Sarah Palin’s disastrous vice presidential run. It’s one of the least reported and written about realities of the 2012 race, with the only one I know having mentioned it regularly being yours truly"


The explanation why Marsh is the only one mentioning  this theme is that it is so preposterous and discredited no journalist of repute would  say such a silly thing.

Look Ms Marsh, try, really give it, non-prejudicial analysis, a try. Palin's vice-presidential run was not "disastrous" it did not cost McCain the presidency, it has not made the selection of women more difficult.  The reality Taylor is it is the male campaign managers for McCain who have distorted the truth to cover their ineptitude. But don't take my word for it as a mere male-here below, yet again, are the unvarnished facts from the exits polls and the common sense explanations as to why McCain's campaign, not Palin's was so disastrous.

Here are the facts;

When they start apportioning the blame to the real people responsible for it – McCain’s team and Game Change authors – the schadenfreude will be palpable.

The left’s theme that Palin cost McCain votes is totally refuted by independent exit poll analysis by the likes of CNN.   This sudden discovery that perhaps the 2008 disaster was not Palin’s fault has other reasons for surfacing from the MSM then some new regard for Palin – far from it.  

It is being slowly puffed up so as to tie Romney to McCain along the lines of “the GOP is nominating someone who lost to the last one they nominated, and who ran a disastrous campaign." Thus, shifting the blame from Palin to McCain and his team will be part of the Dem's campaign effort.

This is all to the good, as Palin has survived the onslaught, and when Romney ceases to be “the party leader until November,” as Mitch McConnell said today, the meme she caused the 2008 defeat will have been discarded and discredited by its own creators as she moves towards 2016.

Because it suited the MSM/left to denigrate Sarah Palin whilst she was viewed as a possible threat to President Obama’s re-election chances, the prevailing meme has been that it was Palin’s “disastrous” selection/campaign that led to McCain’s defeat.

This histrionic myth-making reached its apotheosis in the Hollywood hit piece “Game Change” which followed hard on the heels of the Joe McGinnis hatchet job. The release of both were obviously timed to derail the expected Palin run for the GOP nomination.  No doubt there was much cursing by various publishers and producers when Palin decided not to be a candidate.

The Game Change team relied on McCain team gossip and character assassination because it suited their purpose.  What it could not do forever was to destroy the obvious facts, no matter how much they shrouded them in leftist malarkey.

As its most basic, the facts are that:

1. Palin lifted McCain ahead of Obama after she was named to the ticket and gave her convention speech.

2. Palin made the obvious point that candidate Obama had little legislative experience, no business experience and no foreign affairs experience  and had associations with a number of disreputable characters and a history of drug taking.

3. Nobody really knew anything about him, and what was allowed to escape through the “journolist” conspiracy leftist media was quickly shunted off the front page or not discussed at all. Even Jimmy Kimmel questioned this recently –  ”how did we miss this”.    (In 2008, Obama’s own book discussed his eating dog meat).

4. The McCain team and McCain lost the election, not Palin, as this obvious comment states:

“She would have led the Republicans to victory had it not been for the September financial collapse and McCain’s disastrous decision to suspend his campaign so that he could vote for the TARP bailout in Washington.”

The left continues with their big lie that Palin cost McCain the 2008 election. This is often seen in comments from so called “Republicans” along the lines of “I was going to vote for McCain,  but when he chose Palin I switched to Obama” and similar such nonsense.

Here are are the unbiased, unvarnished facts (with links to the full reports in red) from respected professional polling firms.  The major issue was the economy, the Lehman brother’s collapse, and McCain “suspending” his campaign.

Palin’s addition to the ticket was a significant plus factor, which  kept McCain as close as he was until nothing could save him as the economy tanked and the bail-out inflamed passions.

It has been a disgusting spectacle watching the McCain team, through the mechanism of the Hollywood left’s hatchet job “Game Change” put the blame for their incompetence on Palin.  The facts prove otherwise.

Despite the premise of “Game Change” – that Sarah Palin cost John McCain the 2008 presidential election – Gallup polls prove HBO’s assertion categorically false. Palin wasn’t the reason the Republicans lost the election. She’s the only reason they had a fighting chance up until the time McCain suspended his presidential campaign in late September.

Gallup polls from the last presidential race prove that once Palin joined the ticket on Aug. 29, 2008, McCain’s ratings steadily climbed to a point where the Republican ticket even out shined Democratic Sen. Barack Obama.

In the two weeks before Palin joined the McCain ticket, the Arizona senator drifted in the low 40 percentile range, mostly around 41, 42 and 43 percent, while Obama held as much as an 8 point lead at about 49 and 50 percent. Four days after Palin joined the ticket, however, McCain’s numbers climbed to 45 percent and Obama’s sank to 47 percent, narrowing the gap significantly from eight points to two.

Between Sept. 4-6, McCain and Palin actually overshot the Obama ticket by 3 percent with the Republicans in the lead at 48 percent and the Democrats at only 45. McCain consistently held that lead until Sept. 15, and then the candidates balanced out with Obama enjoying a mere three-point lead, and no lead at all from Sept. 22-24, when the numbers were tied at 46 percent.

Some were intrigued as to how McCain’s decision would play out in the polls, but once he suspended his campaign in late September he never recaptured the lead he enjoyed with the breaking news of recruiting Palin.

It was downhill from there.

McCain’s campaign was taken out of suspension, but it never actually got back off the ground. From then, the gap between McCain and Obama only widened, leaving the Republicans at a severe disadvantage. McCain’s numbers remained steady around 42 and 43 percent throughout October, but Obama’s continued climbing, and by October 31, McCain’s standing had dropped to 40 percent and Obama’s had reached 53 percent - a devastating 13-percent gap.

Within days of each other a major pharmaceutical firm, then the British banking system is shown to be utterly corrupt, with Barclay's deceiving its clients and the government, being the tip of the iceberg in the banking system "banksters' as they are now called.


What was one of Britian's oldest and most respected pharmaceutical firms, the old Beecham's which merged and merged again to now be GlaxoSmithKline
is hit with $3 billion in fines for a litany of gross claims. I won't go into the details, as it is too depressing, rather the main charges are detailed below.


Governments deceive, create money from nothing and increase debt, markets are manipulated, an attorney general is held in contempt of congress, American cities are filing for bankruptcy. 


The moral and religious underpinning of society, especially the family unit are undermined, lampooned and Hollywood values are held up to be societal norms and aspirational.


When a politician appears like Sarah Palin who espouses the traditional religious values and economic common sense all the forces from hell are unleashed against her and her family. 


Instead Americans are given a choice between politicians who are backed by the same forces in Wall Street. Who are in the current race, progenitor and inheritor of the governments health care, which has made non-compliance a "taxation" matter.


There are many conservatives who feel it is their duty to vote for Romney and that is their right of course. As for me, I think it will not matter as if Romney loses, as I expect, it may be the last chance to reverse the horrific path society is on. 


A second Obama term, with the coming economic malaise could give the opportunity for a new Reagan in 2016, whether Palin or a "Palin". If Romney's defeat is so large that the establishment can't blame it on the Tea Party then it hardly seems possible that the 2016 nominee will be another McCain/Romney. 


If Romney wins and the economy does not turn around then who knows what the 2016 scenario will be-a sure to lose Romney running against an even further left Democratic nominee? that is a scenario too depressing to contemplate.


Conservatives have an awesome responsibility in 2016 and it will take every cent, every ounce of stamina, every sacrifice that can be mustered to restore the values of faith flag and family. To give back the names banker or businessman or congressman or Reverend the honor they once had. In the meantime it will be a long, saddening and frankly dispiriting four years tempered only by the hope that change can come.

Here is the pharmaceutical industry in this time of corruption. 

GlaxoSmithKline has been socked with US$3 billion in fines by US authorities over charges it marketed drugs for unauthorised uses, held back safety data and cheated the government's Medicaid program.

The Justice Department said GSK was fined over misbranding its drugs Paxil and Wellbutrin, and for holding back data while making unbacked claims for its diabetes drug Avandia.

GSK pleaded guilty and agreed to the fines in what the department called the largest health care fraud settlement in US history.

GSK, one of the world's largest health care and pharmaceuticals companies, admitted to charges that it had promoted antidepressants Paxil and Wellbutrin for uses not approved for by US regulators, including treatment of children and adolescents.

The British drugmaker also conceded charges that it held back data and made unsupported safety claims over its diabetes drug Avandia.

Altogether it will pay $1 billion in criminal fines and forfeitures over charges relating to the three drugs.

fines for illegal promotion of those drugs as well as others; paying kickbacks in their marketing; and making unsubstantiated claims about Avandia's safety and efficacy.

A Romney-Palin Ticket; A Reconsideration A Condemnation

I posted an article, linked below, that set out the current polling situation which has Mitt Romney at 43%. This level of support is where John McCain was prior to his selection of Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential running mate. 


Further, and more importantly, the current Electoral College state by state polls (as illustrated in the post 
AT THIS LINK ) show Romney a massive 114 EC votes behind President Obama.


I commented that, in contradiction to not only the leftist/MSM meme that Palin "cost McCain the election" which is of course ludicrous, elements of the GOP also establishment hold that view too. 


Be that as it may if one took the "anyone but Obama" tack (as Palin herself does) and beating Obama is above over all other considerations, then for the good of the country/GOP, if the polls continue as they are, Romney might have to look at a "game changer," Someone like Palin, or Palin herself, instead of a "boring white man" as is currently the received wisdom.


I did not say however that I would wish Palin to be chosen or accept the VP nod. I have written on a number of occasions that I will never vote for Romney, not even if Palin endorsed him, campaigned for him, or was his running mate. On the other hand if she did any or all of that, I would not abandon her either.


It is important that the conservative element is seen not to actively oppose, or campaign against Romney. Firstly, if he loses, as I expect him to, the establishment must not be able to say that he was stabbed in the back, or would have won if only the Tea Party etc. supported him. 


Secondly, if that happened, the waters would be muddied for 2016 and the establishment could trot out another in the Dole/Bush/Bush/McCain/Romney line, when what is needed is a Reagan. Whether Palin would make the ultimate sacrifice and join a Romney ticket would be a massive decision for her, but if ABO is the ultimate decider she would do it I believe, putting principles above personal considerations.


That would possibly be a massive detriment to the longer term well being of the country and the GOP as, if Romney lost, then once again, the hatchet men would come looking for Palin and she would most likely never get the chance to run in 2016. She would have lost any (false) kudos with the establishment and have alienated the conservatives.


In respect of the latter it is of much value to present an opinion that was sent to me (from "Guest25555" at the link above) in respect of my original article, as it touches on the major points and hopes for the future, from a Palin supporting conservative who disagrees with the tenor of my previous post. 


Not since G.Mennen Williams impassioned response to the nomination of LBJ as Kennedy's running mate, has there been a similar response to the concept of Palin as Romney's ticket mate.


This shows the very real challenge for Palin should, and I agree it is unlikely, the offer from Romney eventuate, but such are the hazards when the great reach out for the brass ring.

"First of all it has no chance of happening.  Romney will never pick her.

Be that as it may, as a huge supporter of hers I wouldn't want her to accept the offere in any event.  I haven't supported her and followed her for all this time just to see her sell out and become in effect a cheerleader for Mitt Romney.  

I haven't done that just to see her tell everyone how great Romney is and watch her twist herself in knots when the media asks her to defend Romney's MA mandate while she attacks Obama's mandate.  Let Portman or Rubio or whoever do that.  Let them defend Romney's being 47th in jobs as Governor.  Let them defend him being on record that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism.

I don't want to see her become just another lackey for Mitt Romney.  He has plenty of them already, he doesn't need any more.

Even since Nov 5, 2008 the establishment and those in the 

GOP power elite have yearned for Romney and told us he was the perfect guy, that he was the only one who could beat Obama, and we should have gone with him in 2008.

I don't want any excuses this time.  Let them have their dream guy.  Let them have their dream VP in Portman or Rubio or Ryan or whoever.
