HOUSTON --  It is the biggest race in Texas and one of the most expensive races now being waged for Congress.

In The Woodlands, it brought out one of the Tea Party’s biggest names: Sarah Palin.

The former Alaska Governor spoke for 15 minutes at a rally supporting Tea Party-supported candidate Ted Cruz Friday night.

Cruz is running against Lt. Governor and fellow Republican David Dewhurst to fill Kay Bailey Hutchinson’s open Senate seat.

Wearing boots that she said were given to her by Gov. Rick Perry, Palin took aim at “lap dogs in the media practicing yellow journalism” as well as politicians who fall outside her beliefs.

“They spend, they print, they borrow,” she said. “They spend more and then they stick us with the bill.”

The crowd of hundreds applauded loudly.

“Gov. Palin’s support has a tremendous impact in galvanizing conservatives,” Ted Cruz said.

Following the speech, Palin was treated like a celebrity in the crowd. More people lined up for her than for Cruz.

“We need something to build a little more momentum to push us over the finish line,” Cruz supporter Jessica Eppler said.

In the meantime, a small group of veterans met near the rally to band behind Dewhurst, who was campaigning in Tyler.

“For Ted Cruz, this is all about ambition,” supporter Jake Ellzey said. “For David Dewhurst, this is all about country.”

It will be a busy weekend for the candidates leading up to Tuesday’s runoff election. Both will be bringing out political heavy hitters.

Cruz will stomp with former GOP candidate Rick Santorum near Dallas Saturday. Dewhurst will stomp with Gov. Perry on Monday.

Gov. Palin Stops By Texas Chick-fil-A

Earlier this week, Governor Palin called out Rahm Emanuel’s Chicago-style thuggery for his support of banning Chick-fil-A from expanding there. The owner, with a record of good service, happy customers, and charitable contributions simply voiced his stand for traditional marriage. A politician attempting to bully a private business is unacceptable, but “merely more of the same,” the Governor articulated.

Tonight, Governor Palin addressed an enthusiastic Texas crowd at a rally for U.S. Senate candidate Ted Cruz. Not long after taking to the podium, she mentioned that she’d stop by Chick-fil-A later to support the business.

Palin also injected herself into the Chick Fil-A dustup over its owner’s support for traditional marriage. “Jason,” she said, talking to an aide, “you’re going to have to take me on our way back to the airport later. We drive [by] a Chick Fil-A. We don’t have that in Alaska. Love me some Chick Fil-A. So, we’ll go there, Jason, on the way, OK?” The crowd cheered.

Chick-fil-A has not only had to deal with Emanuel’s ridiculousness, but has endured the vitriol of others who have no tolerance for those who don’t agree with their worldview. In fact, as Twitchy reported, when Don Perry, Chick-fil-A’s Vice President of Public Relations, died suddenly today, many of these so-called compassionate liberals took to Twitter to spew their hatred and revel in his death.

Once again, one reason I respect Governor Palin is she has the guts to consistently stand up for what she believes in, but she takes it a step further. It’s not just her own interests she looks out for. She stands up on behalf of others who are targeted by the hypocritical left, yet for this tendency to speak the truth she is called “divisive” and “polarizing”–adjectives she should wear as a badge of honor, considering they often come from those who have never in their lives stood up for anything that might cost them acceptance into the good old boys’ clubs for which they salivate.

Governor Palin, on the other hand, isn’t interested in being in anybody’s club, particularly if it shackles her or robs her of her independent spirit. She refuses to sit down and shut up, and she puts her money where her mouth is. A woman of her word, she did drop by Chick-fil-A, and she shared pictures.

Romney's Political Body Is Still Warm And Christie Says He Would "Certainly Think About Running In 2106"

With the smart money at Intrade having Mitt Romney at a 40.3 % chance of being elected this November, and the Electoral College polling showing him a massive 126 EV votes behind President Obama, the jockeying for 2016 is well under way.

Beltway pundits have explained away the weak GOP primary field as being the second tier having a go at the "next in line" Romney. Really, apart from the media having to pump them up to create reader interest in the slow season, who would have given the likes of Santorum, Cain, Bachman, Paul any realistic chance of getting the nomination? 

Pawlenty was the Beltway pick, but he proved utterly hopeless on the campaign trail right out of the blocks.

In reality, when Palin, Christie, Daniels,Bush and Pence decided not to run, and Gingrich ran out of money only Rick Perry had a reasonable chance, but when he imploded that was the end of matters.

Realistically to unseat a sitting president a campaign needs to run on immense luck. With outside the norm events like a massive depression, Americans being taken hostage and an ensuing failed rescue attempt, a major war or massive scandal being game changers. None of those events are in play except, perhaps, the economic one and even there President Obama still has some degree of the benefit of the doubt.

It is no surprise that prospective GOP candidates for 2016 are looking down the track, but it is perhaps a bit surprising that they would do so openly even before Romney is nominated! On the other hand, for Christie to make noises in that direction is indicative of his personality. 

It is why he will be the keynote speaker at the forthcoming convention and is why he probably won't get the 2016 nomination as he may be destroyed by his own outspokenness. An excellent spearhead vice-presidential nominee in 2016 by the way for exactly those qualities.

Here is Christie response to the 2016 question from Yahoo. Sarah Palin has indicated some time ago that the door is open for 2016 and Jeb Bush who "hasn't ruled a 2016 runout" is openly touted by the establishment wing. Basically there are less than four months before the 2016 GOP campaign commences.

Chris Christie said Wednesday he would "certainly think about running" for president four years from now if Mitt Romney does not win in November, the Associated Press reports.

The popular New Jersey Republican governor resisted pressure to seek the Republican presidential nomination last year, but 2016 is in his sights.

"If there's an opportunity for me to serve in another capacity and I think I have something to add to the mix, I don't think I'd back away from it," he said, according to the AP.

It is rumored that Christie could be given a keynote speaking opportunity at the Republican convention in August.

Romney Polling Behind McCain/Palin Vs Obama In Nearly All Battleground States

For all the negativity heaped on John McCain in respect of his campaign, against impossible odds, and especially the ludicrous leftist meme that Palin "cost McCain the election." Current polling shows the McCain/Palin team did better than Mitt Romney is currently doing.


The highly regarded election analysis site Electoral-Vote.com has a daily update of the current polling results in each state as regards the Electoral College results are on the day. They assign a state to either President Obama or Mitt Romney based on the latest polls. Since the site has been running they have been wrong as to the final result, and that very narrowly in 2004 so their methodology must have some merit.


If the site is viewed AT THIS LINK it can be seen that, based on current polling President Obama has a massive 126 Electoral College (where it counts) lead over Romney. If a mouse is hovered over each state it brings up the latest poll from the state plus the history of the final results from the previous five elections.


In the case of the battleground states for 2012 the surprising result, surprising in the face of the huge media beat up of the McCain/Palin teams result, shows that in every case Romney is polling at best even with McCain/Palin's final
