Gingrich Rises To 20%/3rd Place In Nevada Poll-Inexorable Rise Continues After Palin's Support

The Washington Times reports the result of the Western republican leadership Straw poll in Nevada.

Mr. Gingrich, who has also risen in recent national polls after his campaign’s shaky start, secured more than 20 percent of the vote. Texas Rep. Ron Paul finished with about 10 percent, Mr. Perry received almost 4 percent, and Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota received just 1 percent."

As expected, flavor of the month Herman Cain is in first place, continuing the pattern of shooting star,Non-Romney candidates to so do. However the interesting aspect of Gingrich's ascendancy is the slow and steady rise which relates to his impressive debate performances and thoughtful appraisal by prospective voters-not a knee jerk reaction to media publicity.

The other interesting  aspect of Gingrich's rise is that it coincides with the very favorable comments about him by Sarah Palin. There would be a dramatic  further rise in the level of support for Gingrich if Palin came out with a full endorsement.

There has been a clear and unmistakable rise in the level of favorable comments about Gingrich by Palin supporters at the various Palin fan sites- where there are murmurs of a Gingrich/Palin tickets being heard. This example from Texans for Sarah Palin is by no means unique and is seen across the Palin blogosphere. This includes tentative toe in the water statements by the likes of Prof. Jacobson at Legal Insurrection.

Listening to the clip of Gingrich at the RNC Convention below it is clear he stands head and shoulders above all the current candidates for the quality of his intellect.
