Marinus van der Lubbe was a young Dutch communist who entered Germany in the troubled times of the rise of the Nazi Party to assist the Communist underground.
He had a troubled life of unemployment, physical difficulties, and youthful radical activism. This culminated in his being charged by the new Nazi government with setting fire to the Reichstag (Parliament) building, which he may or may not have done, or may have done as a dupe of the Gestapo.
Hitler used the burning of the Reichstag as a pretext to establish his dictatorship through the Enabling Law, which allowed for the suspension of parliamentary government and his assuming of total power. He used, as the main excuse for this, in reality, coup, the threat of communism.
The purported activity of van der Lubbe exposed, for the use of Hitler's propagandists, such a threat to the state, that Hitler had to,they said, assume full charge of the levers of total power.
The analogy with how the left today has used Loughner as a stalking horse to attempt to ensure their hold on the levers of power is obvious.
Loughner too is a disturbed young person. And although, as much as they would have wished it to be the case, there is absolutely no indication of any link between him and the Tea Party, much less Sarah Palin, he was a perfect foil for them to viciously attack Palin as somehow being responsible for the attack on Gifford's.
What this, by now clearly discredited and shamed left "progressive" assault on Palin, aided by their enablers in the media, has shown is that there is absolutely no difference in the mechanisms of using and holding power used by the Nazi's and the "progressives.
In the end, by using the Alinsky textbook-a modern, leftist, variation of Goebbels's method's, the end to them, justifies the means- no matter who gets hurt in the process.
Hopefully, with the exposure of their cynically, unjustified attack on Palin their future attempts will only go to expose to the wider public just how despicable they truly are.
