This from HOT AIR: with the link to the article praising Palin by Anand Giridharadas
"I seriously have no words to introduce this news story from the New York Times:Let us begin by confessing that, if Sarah Palin surfaced to say something intelligent and wise and fresh about the present American condition, many of us would fail to hear it.That is not how we’re primed to see Ms. Palin. A pugnacious Tea Partyer? Sure. A woman of the people? Yup. A Mama Grizzly? You betcha.But something curious happened when Ms. Palin strode onto the stage last weekend at a Tea Party event in Indianola, Iowa.
Along with her familiar and predictable swipes at President Barack Obama and the “far left,” she delivered a devastating indictment of the entire U.S. political establishment — left, right and center — and pointed toward a way of transcending the presently unbridgeable political divide.A “curious thing”? Really? Sarah Palin has been doing that very thing, almost uninterrupted, for her entire political career.
Regardless of what people might think of her chances for political office or her activism, Palin has been an anti-establishment voice from the very beginning.
"Now the "Culture Vulture" section of The New York Magazine-no lover of conservatives reviews Sarah Palin: You Betcha in this point scoring manner;
"The New Anti-Sarah Palin Documentary Won't Make Many Haters Happy
Mere months after the release of the Sarah Palin hagio-documentary The Undefeated, British provocateur Nick Broomfield (Kurt & Courtney) arrived at the Toronto International Film Festival with a counterscreed, Sarah Palin: You Betcha! The doc premiered Friday and it looks like it may leave Mama-Grizzly-hating liberals sorely unsatisfied: Let's take a look at Broomfield's "revelations" and see which, if any, of his punches actually land.•
Broomfield’s drive to Wasilla through the icy Alaskan wilderness is punctuated by a soundtrack so ludicrous — ominous violins, shrill piano notes — that you’d think he was on the hunt for the Abominable Snowman. Once he arrives, Palin’s local fans turn out to be warm and endearing, not a bunch of raging hicks. Point: Palin!•
Broomfield successfully tracks down Mercede Johnston, the candid sister of Palin's former son-in-law-to-be, Levi. Mercede recounts her brother’s harrowing memories of his traumatic, manipulative appearance onstage with the Palins at the Republican National Convention: “He said it was crazy. And they made him…" — here comes the bombshell! — "…shave." Point: Palin!"
You can read the entire 7-1 match point to Palin HERE Something very very strange is going on, you can add to this sudden treating of Palin as something more than a backwoods idiot,"quitter", grifter (the left's three main automatic responses to anything Palin says or does) CNN's reporting on Palin in a genuinely fair and balanced manner, from time to time.
In fact CNN reporter Don Lemon was absolutely fulsome in his praise of her appearance at the Iowa tea Party rally.Either Palin has now entered a new phase in the media characterisation as a, probably still, "off center" but respected for her insights, commentator-like Jesse Jackson for example, or they feel she is sufficiently neutered and not a danger to the liberals.
It may be that, as some see it on the right, Palin is viewed as a weak candidate against President Obama and by making her seem more acceptable they are, surreptitiously, assisting her campaign, should she run so ensuring , they believe, Obama's re-election.
It may just be possible on the other hand that a combination of exhaustion of endless Palin bashing, allied to the indisputable common sense of the remarks by Palin on the economy, whether agreed with or not, has sunk into even the most concrete bunker thick skulls of at least some on the left.
